I am loving his live performances. I laughed when he sang to Cale.

  • girlygirl

And YouTube of Can’t Stay Away (which wasn’t shown on GMA itself)

Carrie Underwood played right after Kris. So we got to see two great singers.

  • gingerly

It’s so much more fun to watch this big roll out having no investment in this year! I watched the Can’t Stay Away performance on ABC’s site. I think that it’s either a much easier song to play and sing harmonies, or the band has really tightened up since the Conan performance. Anyhow, I loved it!

So I just scrolled up and watched LLWD. I just don’t really like this live. The band did better but I’m not loving the harmonies.

  • windmills

Kinda fug outfit but really good stage presence, good vocals, and a fun performance from Kris. Nice job!

Congratulations to Kris on the release of his debut album. What a special day for him. I’ll be headed to WM to pick up his album later today.

  • dhunken

GREAT PERFORMANCE! Kris sounded absolutely fantastic.

  • glitter

Wow Kris is wearing a sweater color me shocked!

  • sleepinin

Oh, cool. Can’t Stay Away (sounded great too) – I guess it’s in the lead in the battle for the next single?

  • Lynneville

Loved Can’t Stay Away! Way to Go Kris!

  • CathyMK

Great job, Kris! They’re a fun band to watch.

Oh, cool. Can’t Stay Away (sounded great too) ‘“ I guess it’s in the lead in the battle for the next single?

Or he just likes performing it. David Cook almost never performed Come Back to Me before it became the single.

  • jack5791

He’s so humble and awesome. Go Kris!!

  • MusicAlltheTime

They sound awesome on both songs!

  • Ratna12

    @ tinydance:

I’m on West Coast, so Kris is not on GMA yet.

“Carrie Underwood played right after Kris ” ?

How can that be ? Carrie was at Conan last night (Los Angeles) and I know that she will be on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night / Friday morning. (in LA also)

  • summersnow

The band performance seems better here than on Conan. More energy as well. I was hoping he could perform more songs since it’s supposed to be a “concert”.

  • Mtlfan

yeah me too i liked more this performance than the Conan one

    love the song CSA!!!

  • Mtlfan

I guess CSA will be the 2nd single. good pick :)

  • smartcookie

That was excellent. I like the outfit, too. But, yeah, don’t read too much into the second song played. I wouldn’t mind if the second single was CSA, but Cook did “Declaration” everywhere with “Light On,” and that wasn’t his next single. He did name his tour after it, though. So maybe by this time next year, Kris will be finishing up the “Can’t Stay Away” tour? I’d go for the “Undone” tour myself.

I’m so excited at what a good live performer he’s become and how energetic Mr. Chill is these days.

  • Starr

I felt like the sound was off on this one. I can’t really put my finger on what was off about the performance. Either I couldn’t really hear the strings or Kris sounded a little tired, and I don’t blame him. But he shouldn’t have gone to the Empire State Building until 1 in the morning! He should have rested LOL Fun performance anyway.

  • lucy

So maybe by this time next year, Kris will be finishing up the ‘Can’t Stay Away’ tour? I’d go for the ‘Undone’ tour myself.

I don’t know. “Can’t Stay Away” sounds like a good name to me — sends a subliminal message to would-be ticket buyers… Hey, you Can’t Stay Away from this one! Like hypnosis, kind of.

  • Seeker

CSA or BWCU, I’m down with both. Both are excellent choices. (infact, I’d throw in ‘Bring it Back’ but that’s just me.)

Kris has always given an excellent live performance, and has always been an energetic! live performer. He’s perfected the ‘Bounce’ during the Idol Live Tour. God, I love the bounce!

  • Starr

Loved the falsetto on “Can’t Stay Away” by the way.

  • hoosiermama

I’m so excited at what a good live performer he’s become and how energetic Mr. Chill is these days.

YES! This was soooo much better than Conan. Everyone looked happy and full of energy. Love when Kris bops up and down–it’s like his signature move. And he kept his eyes open alot, which is more like he did on Idol (and not always what I saw in the tour YT videos). It made for a great audience connection. He’s just so adorkable! I loved it.

CSA was fun to watch, too. Great energy again. Kris, you got funk! Yes, I detect a little throat issue there, but it was still an excellent performance. Really enjoyed seeing him walk over to Cale like that. Maybe he was making up for the miniscule tv time Cale got on Conan? Ha! Whatever, it was nice to see him highlight his friend. I think the band is gelling. It’s all good today!!!

  • colette

    sweeeet….

this song is going to make it. this is the 12th? 13th? time I’ve heard it, and I could hear it over and over. how many recent singles can I say that about?

also, the more I hear it the more I appreciate that this song is about something other than: 1) you dumped me and I hate you; 2) I’m going to steal your girlfriend; 2) You’re so sexy

It’s about mortality, carpe deum, wake up and smell the universe — how refreshing!

    another thought:

does anyone share the experience I have of Kris’s music? How it sneaks up behind you? you think well, OK, it’s alright — then find it stuck in your head?

  • Seeker

Brings over my comment from other thread:

YouTube of Can’t Stay Away. Little rough on the vocals, but good energy.

OMG Youtube already! Excellent! ANd Thanks!!!
Yeah. A little Rough but sounded more like sore throat or tired vocal cords than strained vocals (OIC! Did I make sense?). He sounded smoother on LLWD tho.

@Kris Allen’s Band, On LLWD, Plz support Kris on the wordy chorus by singing ‘Ticking’ & ‘To Say’ , which Kris purposely drops coz he needs to Fking! BREATH! for a sec! For Fsake! It’s so simple!

    Wow… So relavant!Watever!

“does anyone share the experience I have of Kris’s music? How it sneaks up behind you? you think well, OK, it’s alright ‘” then find it stuck in your head?”

@collete – That’s Kris’ amo! How his music works on most of us, I think. A song at 1st u tot was Meh… but it gets stuck in ur head after 2nd or 3rd listening. Then u fall in love with it. Sneak Attack!

  • FifthHouseSun

Kris seemed excited, energized. Big congrats on his big launch day.

  • SarahP

is it only me or does anyone else thing that the drummer looks like Paul from The Wonder Years? except with different colour hair ofcourse

    good solid performance…

  • mistyluv7

OK here goes! LLWD is not my favorite song……too many words and sounds forced. Good thing he has back up. Love Can’t Stay Away and I’ll bet that will be Adam’s favorite too……real funky. He has a good Band. That will help him get his footing. Anyone other than me notice that the Guy with the long black hair gets more animated than Kris. He’s cute too. He really works that mic. I would have liked to have heard a few more songs sung LIVE ( wouldn’t we all ) ; ) Nice job Kris!!

  • cookcricket

Thanks for posting mj and for the utube girlygirl! Kris did sound great and great stage presence for sure. I heard the somewhat rough vocals on CSA, but it still sounded great! The only thing I noticed that hasn’t been mentioned was that he didn’t smile at all (I don’t think) during this song. This is not a criticism of his performance in the least, I just noticed that for some reason.

    Kris, you’re awesome!!!!:)

  • TwigLA

Thanks for the vids. Kris and the band did great. Very upbeat and lively.
I liked when he went over to sing with Cale. THe GMA stage is much more amenable to moving around than having to stay on the mark for lighting and cameras on the Tonight Show.

I didn’t hear anything tired or off in Kris’ voice or performance. It was solid.

One piece of advice to Kris. Don’t say you don’t listen to radio much :) Bread and butter, dear.

  • MusicAlltheTime

I heard the somewhat rough vocals on CSA, but it still sounded great!

I actually prefer the somewhat rough vocals in a live performance. It sounds more rock-n-roll.

  • Seeker

Cookcricket, Didn’t Kris smile when he went over to Cale… I did notice Cale’s mega watt smile when he noticed Kris trying to make eye contact with him. Adorable!!
What an incredible moment to share with one of ur best friends –
Singing at the GMA’s, promoting a Big Banner album – and just a year ago they were ‘Unknown, small town artist’, opening for ‘Unknown small town band, Latture’.

How far you boys have come… So Proud!

  • Eileen99

Love Kris with his sweater and t-shirt. Just. Yes.

The band looks so much looser in these performances – and sounds tighter to me. They look like they’re relaxed and having a great time. Love the bass player, he’s all kinds of UNF.

  • cookcricket

Seeker, I’ll got check it out again. Such a hard thing to do, my arm has to be twisted ya know. Hee hee. CSA can’t stay outta my mind!!!! :)

  • jms

Yanno, Kris’s music is really not my thing but I really appreciated these two performances. They sounded and looked good up there and the style seems to really suit Kris. And he’s adorable in that cardigan. :)

  • cookcricket

Okay, now I know what the problem is with the smiling. :) While I’m watching bouncy Kris sing I’m just grinning from ear to ear the entire time and I guess I just feel everyone else in the whole entire world should be too!!!!!!! Yep, that’s it!! Love him!!!

  • Seeker

    cookcricket!!! *hugs U*
I’ve been the same all day!!! I’ve written the most ridic comments in my Kris delirium!! I love the Kris Bounce!! And I loved this performance, I love how he went up to each band member. How all of them seem so much more relaxed! I just so happy RN!

  • lifeisgood

I love Can’t Stay Away! Band looked and sounded great.

  • Mary102

Hey all – I was at the gma show today. Kris and the band were so good!! They had so much energy and fun performing, and kept joking and having a good time on stage together when not performing. I had such a great time and Can’t stay away is one of my fav songs!! Loved it!

After, Kris met with all the fans and took pictures. He was such a sweetheart! He said to me “so nice to meet you.” Swoon! And he’s so pretty up close!

  • cookcricket

Thanks for the report Mary102-a little jealous here. ;)

  • fuzzywuzzy

Kris looked and sounded good this morning on GMA. I thought that he was supposed to be performing outside in Times Square? What happened?

  • hoosiermama

Thanks for the report Mary102-a little jealous here. ;)

DITTO!!! It did look like they were having fun–glad to hear they really were!

Just watched Kris and the guys on Alexa Chung. No interview, just sang. Sounded good (but I think the GMA was better). Now tomorrow–Regis and Kelly? The Kris Drizzle continues…. :-)

  • jersey

I loved the CSA performance on the ABC site. I wish they had broadcast that in addition to LLWD. Thanks for the recap Mary102!

  • Mary102

Aww – to make you guys feel better I’ll try to get pics that I took at gma online for you guys! Hopefully today or tomorrow.

  • ai_fan

I haven’t seen this appearance posted anywhere (got it from KA official). Yeah for KA official being up to date on appearances!

    The Bonnie Hunt Show
Date: Tue, 2009-11-24TV Appearance Location: The Bonnie Hunt Show, NBC Venue: 2PM on NBC

  • http://MJO judes

The band was so tight here!! No problem with the drummer this time!!!! They were closer together & obviously had no sound issues- makes such a difference- so helped them to be looser in their performance!!
When Kris doesn’t have his guitar it frees him to interact with the band more !! This was so good!! I’m loving all these performances & interviews!!

    Good point! :D

    I AGREE!! lol

    Yay, no drama.

Taking a brief respite to say he was great on Live Like We’re Dying, but a bit strained, IMHO, on Can’t Stay Away. This is why you don’t stay up till all hours at the Empire State Building. Hee

Thanks, ai_fan. I love Bonnie Hunt’s show! She does good interviews.
