Kris Allen and Adam Lambert stopped by the Today Show this morning for an interview and performances. They addressed the AT&T power-voting controversy–Adam said there’s no conspiracy, and that everyone needs to “calm down.”

Afterward, Kris performed “Heartless” and “No Boundaries.” Adam performed “Mad World.” Plus, in the 4th hour, Kris, Adam and Rickey Minor were interviewed by Kathie Lee and Hoda.

I didn’t like this interview. I still have to watch the Early Show interview with Adam. But yeah.. I didn’t care for this one. Too many redunant questions maybe?

  • mmb

Was there….Adam and Kris both sounded good…crowd was screaming for Adam

  • clearone

Haven’t seen the interview but Kris got lucky this morning not having to sing No Boundaries! Bet he was glad for a change.

Without having listened to it I get the impression that AI trotted them out there to diffuse the AT&T rumours. I know it’s their ‘job’ so to speak but it’s times like this that AI’s claws dig into them and they do what they’re told. We know they’re both happy with the way things turned out but I would like to know their own personal thoughts on it, not the scripted ones.

It’s nice that they finally got to do another interview together. Wonder what’s up when they’re done in NYC? Adam hasn’t done late night yet.

  • Cinemaniac86

Actually, I really liked this interview. It was better than many of the more recent talk shows (ESPECIALLY Regis & Kelly). The interviewer seemed much more genuinely interested, she addressed the bromance and had fun talking to them, and also didn’t seem like one of those conspiracy nuts. Instead, she made a conscious effort to dissuade people from harping on about the voting being rigged, so kudos to her.

Exactly. The interview left me cold, and I usually love their interviews.

It looks like there were a lot of people there.

Will Adam ever be given clearance to sing anything other than Heartless? Why not One or Feeling Good or A Change is Gonna Come? That is rather frustrating for me, and it must be for him. How many different spins can you put on the same song?!

I think the Slezak interview for Idolatry is the best. But it was nice to see Kradam together.

  • suebrody

Sorry, I meant Mad World, not Heartless! At least Kris doesn’t have to keep singing No Boundaries. :P

This appearance was announced last week and is the same thing that Idol winner and runner-up have been doing for years (go look through the archives). AI would have to be crazy clairvoyant to know they would have a texting scandal in N years so they better start booking the kids on the Early Show to diffuse it when it flared up.

We know theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re both happy with the way things turned out but I would like to know their own personal thoughts on it, not the scripted ones.

I did not get a vibe that they were acting (if so, pretty good acting). These two seem really down to earth and it seemed like an honest take on things, to me. Adam seems pretty unflapable and has been clear in several interviews that he got what he wanted out of the show. They are both ready to move on and endless harping about a few votes from a few parties is detracting from the messages both of them want to get out there. They want to be musicians. Not part of some tabloid scandal fodder cooked up by over invested fans. That’s not going to help either of their careers. It only pulls focus from their music.

  • rockvixen

I love Mad World but please sing something else Adam……….

  • jersey

Actually, Kris also sang No Boundaries, a little later in the show. Then both Adam and Kris stayed for the next show with Hoda Koppe and Kathi Lee Gifford. Rickey Minor also joined them for that interview.

  • al2009atw

Thank you Adam. People need to relax and stop the conspiracy talk. I think the media is definitely the one to blaim here. Anyway, love you Adam.

  • JazzRocks

I loved Adam on Regis & Kelly! That was the best for me – better than the morning shows. But any Adam is great Adam. The best ever interview? Absolutely the Slezak Idolatry one. Adam at his very best. What a great guy. He has it all.

  • hwc

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s nice that they finally got to do another interview together.

If the goal is to promote the American Idol, I don’t think he benefits one iota from these joint appearances, especially when he’s the opening act on national TV. If anything 19E should put them on opposite coasts and attempt to tamp down the opportunity for comparisons.

They’ve got a real sticky situation for the tour. I think they’ve gotta go Allison > Adam after intermission, then lower the temperature in the room with Anoop, the kid with the hat, and Gorkey before the rave up for the American Idol and a big rock-out group song to close the show.

  • jersey

HWC, Kris sang before and after Adam.

  • Sunn

Adam wasn’t in best voice today, he sounded tired and a bit hoarse. No that I blame him, with all the running around he’s ben doing it’s a wonder he can stand let alone sing. Kris also wasn’t on best form vocally.

Can anyonplase direct to an Adam-Early Show link?

ETA: Kris also performed No Boundaries today. It’s on the MSNBC website..

How does the tour normally go? This year will be my first time going, and thats only to see Adam. I just assumed they performed in the order they got voted off with a few duets thrown in the middle??

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

I just added Kris’s “No Boundaries”

  • jersey

Traditionally, this happens every year with the final two. The runner up sings one song on all their appearances (ie – in season 5 Kat sang “SOTR”) and the winner sings two (Taylor, “Taking It to the Street” and “DIMYP”) whenever they appear together for promo.

  • Cinemaniac86

Their voices both need major rest, I think.

Also, they need to sing some other shit, I agree. Kris is forced to sing “No Boundaries” everywhere, haha, but at least perhaps do “Ain’t No Sunshine”; and Adam, do something upbeat like “Black or White”.

  • hwc

Why not One or Feeling Good or A Change is Gonna Come? That is rather frustrating for me, and it must be for him. How many different spins can you put on the same song?!

That’s what professional musicians do! Adam wil sing the same three or four songs fifty shows in a row on the tour. He’s sung Mad World, what, three maybe four times this week?

Plus, he’s singing these things at 8 o’clock in the morning. I’m not sure he’s wants to do a big Aretha Franklin vocal like Feeling Good or A Change is Gonna Come at that hour of the morning! Mad World is perfect.

  • RubySlippers

All these great interviews help with the American Idol hangover or PAIS (Post American Idol Syndrome). Thanks mj, muchly.

In the beginning of Adam’s song, I swear there is a guy who looks like Jim Cantiello from MTV American Idol in 60 seconds in the background right behind the lady with the green sign…
    Is that him??

  • SpenserJ

Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve got a real sticky situation for the tour.

I don’t really see the tour order as a big issue. For me, Adam & Kris are just two really different kinds of great. If I were to go, I’d be happy with whatever order in which they wanted to give me those two. As long as the Gokey period was long enough for both a potty and a bathroom break, it would be all good to me.

  • jersey

” a potty and a bathroom break”???? LOL, spense.

When do they start rehearsals? Because from what i remember last year, after going through the media gauntlet, the Davids only had a weekend to go home to SLC/Tulsa, pack up/put in storage, celebrate with family, rest a little before going back to LA. And their voices were giving out by the end. That’s how bad it was and I don’t think it’ll be any different with this year’s Final 2.

  • Sunn

In the beginning of Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s song, I swear there is a guy who looks like Jim Cantiello from MTV American Idol in 60 seconds in the background right behind the lady with the green signà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

It normally goes is more or less order of finish. But, these are arena rock shows so the producers have to consider performance energy levels in the hall. The year I went had two distinct waves of energy with DAUGHTRY doing Whole Lotta Love right after intermission, then getting mellow with Elliot and an acoustic boys song, then another big crescendo with Taylor Hicks’ entrance to Jailhouse Rock. The energy level in the hall plummetted with Elliot as the whole place sat back down between DAUGHTRY and Taylor.

Whatever Adam does will be “big”. It’s going to be tough to follow that and to provide the big finale with acoustic guitar.

  • TwigLA

Very much enjoyed the joint interview and the latest ‘elephant’ had to be addressed. I see nothing different or scripted in their response to it. These guys are a great team.

Nice to see Michael Orland at the piano. I had thought it odd when I saw another pianist was at the rehearsal in the clip from yesterday. While Adam sang beautifully, there were at least two times that his voice was off and sounded tired or getting a sore throat. Hope these guys get some vocal rest.

    Loved Kris as always.

  • http://www.myspace.com/rjveritas MrRJ

Oh SpenserJ (wasltp) you are such a Mommy using the word “potty” I too would have to avoid any Gokey moments in his sleazy late 80s lounge lizard outfits yelling at me.

  • SpenserJ

    a potty and a bathroom breakà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ???? LOL, spense.

I’m such a moron. I mean to say a potty break and a beer run!

Gokey moments in his sleazy late 80s lounge lizard outfits yelling at me.

LOL MrRJ – I think even the lounge lizard look is probably more dressed up than Gokey plans on getting now that he’s off TV. Boy’s got no style.

  • mmb

Adam is singing mad world everywhere because 1) they probably have clearance for him to perform it and 2) it is his only song that sounds great with just a piano…there is not a band travelling with him, and unlike Kris he can’t accompany himself on guitar….luckily, it is a gorgeous song, he sings it a little bit differently every time, and his voice is just gorgeous in person….thank god the NYC tour is coming to an end…I can only blow off work so much to trudge around and hear him sing…my love for him is beyond rational….

  • rockvixen

I remember someone posting on some board that they were at the cbs taping and Adam came across someone as he was leaving said “oh my gosh how are you” like he hadn’t seen that person in a long time. I guess he’s referring to people like that who come out of the woodwork after he is famous and want to be their friend now. Adam is going to have to get used to the fame. Katy Perry gave him some good advice “keep your friends you had before this around…keeps you grounded”.

  • dulce

Kris doesn’t necessarily have to close the show. In previous years, they’ve split the contestants up, like Blake ending the first half of the show and Jordin ending the second (which probably won’t work this year)…or they have all of the contestants come out for the finale. The concert designer will figure it out. And since Kris does have fans of his own, I’m sure they won’t mind him closing the show whichever way they decide to go.

  • rockvixen

The interview was boring. Geez they are journalists can’t they come up with some interesting questions?

  • Tess

I think sometimes we, the insatiable fans, forget that these TV and radio gigs aren’t directed toward us…but are directed to the viewers of the show that aren’t really AI fanatics. Press tours are a way of introducing performers to a different demographic or to people that may not have heard or seen them before. Even if we may get a bit “tired” of the songs, to many they are very fresh.

When these guys go out to promote their albums they will probably only have one single that they will sing….over and over and over again. And yes, us fantards will get really tired of it but that is how the cookie crumbles.

Last year on the tour they had mini concerts from the idols (boring) that went from # 10 to #1. I’m hearing rumours that this year they are going back to the “older” format where they will have more group sings, duets, and that the solos will be scattered throughout the evening. That may keep me in my seat when the Gokester performs because it will only be one song instead of 3 in a row.

  • hwc

HWC, Kris sang before and after Adam.

So I see. I stopped the DVR and turned the TV off after Adam sang.

  • Eileen99

I’m a huge Kris fan but also love Adam and downloaded his album, too.
Speaking of Adam performing Mad World because he doesn’t have a band to accompany him – how great would it be to have Kris accompany him on guitar while he sings Mad World (instead of the piano)?

  • ptslittlecomment

^^^^ Yes, that is Jim. Good eye. But we don’t know if he was there to see Kris or Adam or both. He seemed to be more of a Kris fan IMO, but Adam seemed to be winning him over toward the end.

  • suebrody

I see no reason that Adam can’t sing Track of My Tears, Feeling Good, or A Change is Gonna Come. They don’t require lots of instrumentation (he could certainly sing ToMT, but maybe he can’t get clearance for it). I’m sure he is getting sick of MW–I realize he’ll have to sing it over and over on the tour, but he also get to sing lots of OTHER songs on the tour, or so I hope.

I thought the interview with Kelly and Regis was quite good (Adam was very relaxed, had fun with it, and actually got to talk about fashion and his musical background and influences). And he looked FINE. Of course, the Slezak interview was by far the best (I love that Slezak’s mom cried when Adam didn’t win ;-) ). It seemed to cover every pertinent topic, and he was relaxed and candid. I am sure Kris’s will be great, too. Gokey’s-if it happens–should be painful. As will his singing during the concert (don’t subject Allison to a duet, Gokey!). Perhaps I can take notes for later blogging during that time…I am only going for Adam, Kris, Allison, and Matt (okay, to be honest, Adam, but I’m happy the others will be there as well).

  • maturin

Idol and AT&T have MATH and common sense on their side

Math: Hey, don’t drag me into this! Freaking fans never listen to me anyway. And don’t get me started on the judges! KARA, I have six words for you honey . . .
    Common Sense: Dude, give up.

  • hwc

great would it be to have Kris accompany him on guitar while he sings Mad World (instead of the piano)?

Not great at all. I don’t even know if he can do the kind of argpeggio accompaniment that the song demands.

  • Sunn

Off topic: do we know what label Adam has signed on to? I know Kris label in Jive.

  • weareallinnocent

Cool. Thanks for the videos mj! You’re a lifesaver. :-)

That was most definitely Jim Cantiello, as he has written up a short article about it.

Shout out to Kradam bromance in the article.

I thought both were signed under 19 Entertainment. Or is 19 more their management company, and not their record label?

19 is management ,and as far as I know they’ve both signed on. Kris’ No Boundaries was released through 19 and Jive, but Adam’s Mad world is listed under 19 so no record company that I can see. I’m an Idol freshman and am hoping that some veterans around here could educate me the record label/Idol procedure. When are these things usually announced?

  • Lys

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even know if he can do the kind of argpeggio accompaniment that the song demands.

He can. :) True, he never did it on the show, but he did in at least two of his original songs.

  • Anya

hwc: “I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even know if he (Kris) can do the kind of argpeggio accompaniment that the song demands. ”

Yeah, he can, I am not a great guitar player and can do arpeggios. That’s what they teach in music programs.

  • Cinemaniac86

“No Boundaries” should be below “Mad World”. NB was the last performance ;) .

  • lola

    edit: knock it off

  • http://randomizeme.wordpress.com arca

    From the mtv article:

All battle talk aside, the guys legitimately seem to like and support each other. While Kris warmed up, Adam stopped signing autographs, so he could watch (and groove). Kris clearly made googly eyes back at Adam (“in the godly way,” as Danny Gokey might say). Later, while Adam crooned “Mad World,” Kris strummed his guitar and sang along backstage.

    Team Kradam for the win!

LOL – gotta love Jim Cantiello! I didn’t know he was aware of that godly love thing. I wish Slezak would bring that up for Idolatry.

  • Mary102

They usually do the same song after the finale for all the talk shows – last year Cook usually just performed The World I know (and occassionally Time of My Life). I think it’s usually something they performed toward the END of the run, hence MW for Adam.

Probably more of a marketing ploy by AI – since Adam more than anyone else probably wants to bust out 20 news songs right now (or at least songs from his whole repertoire).

Re the tour – as far as I know it is ALWAYS in reverse order, so as much as I’d love Adam to go last (I think it will be a bit of a let down to have him second to last), it will definitely go down that way, and no way they’d have him earlier than that. The only times it’s been slightly different have been in the early performances (like switching 8 and 9, to get a better segue or something). But Adam is going to KILL it on stage at the tour. However, I think Kris will sound great doing Heartless, though unfortunately he will also have to sing NB (shudder). Heartless will probably be his encore, I’m guessing.

I love Kradam together – I absolutely loved their press conference after the final 2 performance! So good together! Adam just has such a positive energy, and I think that gives Kris a lot more confidence and sense of ease.

And re the scandal, I think Adam is being completely honest: based on his attitude about the outcome, he is completely at peace with it, and I believe too that, scandal or not, Kris won fairly (the itunes sales definitely support a strong Kris backing as well). So I think we should just move on and be ok for both Kris and Adam and their future success.

  • hwc

Yeah, he can, I am not a great guitar player and can do arpeggios. Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s what they teach in music programs

Yeah, I play a little myself (barely). That’s why I asked. I’ve never seen the American Idol do anything but strum barre chords.

    .

  • Eileen99

Arpeggios are not hard if you’re a good musician. And, he played viola for years and scales and arpeggios are practiced until your fingers are sore. Not hard to transition this to guitar.

  • apaze1

They showed one of the triplet burn victims in the audience for MW. I am glad they let them stay for the show. Should have let them backstage IMO. I hope they were able to get autograph/photos. What brave young women and so pretty.

I really enjoyed both performances. MW is such a haunting song, and the way Adam sings this really moves me. They both look tired. They need a full night’s sleep!

  • Kirsten

I thought both were signed under 19 Entertainment. Or is 19 more their management company, and not their record label?

19 offers all kinds of services. 19 is the parent company with lots of little 19s under it for legal reasons (for instance, your management company cannot also be your record company because it’s an unreasonable conflict of interest)

19E-Runs the Idol show (and other shows)

19M-Management company that manages many Idols

19R-Record label which all winners/runner-ups (and some others) get signed to usually in conjuction with Sony. Songs recorded during the show (like “Heartless” and “Mad World” are released under the 19R label. Coronation songs are released in conjunction with Sony (although, there have been a few artists that 19R signed, but didn’t end up releasing under Sony labels).

There are also touring divisions (19T?) and divisions for touring merchandice (I seem to recall that’s 19TM). Anyway.

Perhaps if we could see a listing for “No Boundaries” on Billboard, we might get a clue as to the label. I suspect right now that it’s probably RCA since it’s stayed that way for a while. RCA has done well by TCO’s before, so it would be a good fit.

  • lavender1960

Sorry Kris will be closing the show on the tour, the winner always goes last, please.

I liked the mini concert format last year so I believe Cook did 5 songs and then they ended with a group number where the infamous Mavid shenanigans ensued, leaving the show on a very high note. Except, sorry Rihanna, when Please Don’t Stop the Music comes on the radio I have to turn it off now. Watching Mavid every night on You Tube means I can’t stand that song anymore, I am sure the Season 7 peeps feel the same.

Perhaps Kradam will be Mavid inspired.

  • hwc

I see no reason that Adam canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t sing Track of My Tears, Feeling Good, or A Change is Gonna Come.

Feelin’ Good and A Change is Gonna Come are just way too big vocally for 8 am in the morning. Those are both powerhouse, 4th of July fireworks vocals. Adam could sing them cabaret style with the piano, but it would all be a bit much at the crack of dawn. He could do Tracks of My Tears, but Mad World is the most popular song on his album and the best selling song he’s selling today.

    On 19E:

They are both the management company and the record company. They then turn around a do a joint venture on the record deal with another label. There’s no consistency in how that is listed. David Cook is just listed on iTunes as 19 Recordings, LTD. Others are listed as 19 Recordings/Jive. And, so forth.

  • Mary102

Hadn’t heard about S6′s tour, with Blake actually ending the first half of the show. Is that true? Because that seems weird. Having gone to S5 and S7′s tours, there was a lot of excitement building up to the top contestants (I wasn’t a big Archie fan, but still got really excited thinking of him performing near the end, etc.) I think this year’s order was just about perfect, in terms of when people were eliminated (well, except the top 2, jmo :-) ) so I can’t see them messing with that.

But I also hope they have more duets this year – last year they had the 1 or 2 group numbers, but no duets, which definitely sucked. (S5 had more duets, like one with Bucky and Kelly, plus Chris and Elliot).

  • Cinemaniac86

Jim Cantiello’s genuine fanboyism makes his articles particularly more enriching and endearing than most others’.

I bet he follows MJ to stay up-to-date ^_^.

  • Mary102

Oh, and in terms of what to sing, I second someone’s suggestion to have Adam do Tracks of My Tears with Kris accompanying him on guitar — that would be the ultimate Kradam moment!

  • adamisthemanfan

Yes!! He finally hit the last note of Mad World perfectly! it was a very clean execution and it sounded beautiful. LOL To Kris about the texting he’s a cool guy…it does kinda suck he’ll be closing the show though…I think him and Adam should alternate or something it would be more exciting.

  • beachn

A good friend of mine was at the TODAY show this morning. She got to shake Kradam’s hands and said they both were wonderful with the crowd. She noticed that Adam is truly like a big brother to Kris – like a protector and guide. He lipsynced every note with Kris while Kris performed and was the first to bring his hands together for a big applause when Kris finished. The NY crowd was more enthusiastic for Adam but very kind to Kris.

She was most impressed watching Adam “taking care” of Kris !!

  • AC

I thought they both sounded great, especially so early in the morning! The only problem with Kris going at the end of the tour is that it ends with the song No Boundaries. hehe.. other than that, Kris can definitely hold his own. As a Kris fan, I was kinda worried when he was going to be 2nd in the finale but he showed that he can definitely keep the crowd excited. Even with the songs they sang today, they were both showstoppers but just in different ways. yay, Kradam for the win!

  • SpenserJ

The only problem with Kris going at the end of the tour is that it ends with the song No Boundaries.

I don’t think he’s required to sing that song last. I’m sure he can pick more of a crowd pleaser to end his set with. I suspect maybe they’ll end the whole show with a group number again too.

  • ross

And since Kris does have fans of his own, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure they wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t mind him closing the show whichever way they decide to go.

Right. Pretty sure he won this thing. Guess that indicates he’s pretty popular. Ha.

Anyway, I would love to see these two do a duet on the song they sang in the last Ford commercial. Loved that song by them.

Arpeggios are not hard if youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re a good musician. And, he played viola for years and scales and arpeggios are practiced until your fingers are sore.

Well, you know a lot more about him than I do. All I have to go on regarding his musicianship is what I saw on Idol: he can strum barre chords.

  • AC

oh, one more thing, I’m not surprised that in LA and NY in which most of the media is taking place, that Adam would get more applause. I think (to me) they’re both loved but depending on the city, they will probably alternate getting the loudest most applause.

  • Mary102

Regarding the last song for the tour: even if Kris has to do NB last, he will likely come out for an encore (Cook did Billy Jean last year), and so I can see Kris ending with Heartless – which would be a great closer (though more low-key (that is, less accompaniment) than the typical final number. Then they’ll have a big group number with everyone to end the show.

I hope they stay true to Kris’s style for the tour – not try to “arena” it up by putting too much band to back him up – that would suck for his style. Then again, previous concerts had many great “intimate” moments with minimal accompaniment (Brooke White comes to mind last year on piano).

Regarding the arpeggios = I’m a cellist (similar to viola ;-) ) and if he can play viola, arpeggios would be very easy for him (they’re very basic for string players in general) – so I’m sure he could handle it.

  • lg

Speaking of Adam performing Mad World because he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have a band to accompany him – how great would it be to have Kris accompany him on guitar while he sings Mad World (instead of the piano)?

Yeah, this. If if ever happens, my Kradam love will kick into overdrive. I think Kris is a good musician and a quick study and could pick the shit out of Mad World, or anything else he wants to.

  • kansasfemale

Not sure if this has been mentioned…but for those of you wondering about the label

    it’s Sony for both apparently

at least it is on Napster

they are both on the front page of New Releases…

    records say 19 / Sony

  • RemusL

kansasfemale, Sony-BMG is the main music company but under its umbrella are various record labels including Arista, Columbia, Epic, J, Jive, and RCA.

AC, on last season’s tour, David Cook definitely did not close his set with “Magic Rainbows”. There’s no way Kris wall close his set on tour with “Natural Disasters”. :P

Cinemaniac86, I’m sure Jim Cantiello and MJ email back and forth and talk via cell phone all the time. Both of them regularly join Rickey on his website for roundtable discussions after each week’s Tuesday night performance show and Wednesday night results show.

I like the other pianist better actually (the non oliver guy). He seems to sneak in a few jazz chords if… I sooooooo wish Adam would do Tracks of my Tears!

So what is an arGpeggio anyway? Must have missed that in music class.

  • Eileen99

Exactly – and, I’m sure playing the viola since 4th grade is also where he learned some of his beautiful phrasing. You just can’t play any classical solo repertoire without knowing how to make gorgeous phrases, especially those Bach suites :-)

  • taran33

As much as I will enjoy hearing Adam sing having Kris close the concert will be the highlight for me. Except that I will have to wait that whole time to hear him sing!

  • jlc

Oh, and in terms of what to sing, I second someoneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s suggestion to have Adam do Tracks of My Tears with Kris accompanying him on guitar à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ that would be the ultimate Kradam moment!

That AND them doing that song from the last Ford vid..they sounded amazing together.

  • LaTasha

fmoroc, that was incredible!! Adam is such a flirt; I love it.

That Michelle Collins interview (and the accompanying pics) was awesome. Now, my question is, this “Best Week Ever with Paul F. Tompkins” – is that a tv show, internet thing, what? I’ve never heard of it, but by the sounds of it it’s going to be absolutely hilarious, and I wanna see it!!

  • Michelle

Perhaps if we could see a listing for à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“No Boundariesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ on Billboard, we might get a clue as to the label.

FWIW, I’ve been hearing that on the Billboard charts, Kris’ NB is listed as 19/Jive. Which, Jive: makes me scratch my head a little since I mostly know them as very pop/R&B…but hey, Z100 single premieres ftw! (Just as long as they don’t hand him leftover songs that are nothing like his style!)

Last year it was a big build up for both Cook and Archie. Archie got 4 songs, Cook 5. But it’s not like they are doing a super long set so the two of them seemed to close out the show. Really, it was fine for both of their fans and at most venues the crowd loved them both and were excited for both.

One negative about going last is that some fans of other contestants leave early to get a place by the bus. It can be annoying to those watching the show and want to see it to the end. But I’ve heard of people who say Kris bores them but at least they can leave early.

Some are truely concerned for Adam in some areas of the country and hope there aren’t security concerns or other homophobia stuff. I think it best for him not to close out the show. If it was too much focus on him at the end, he might get more words, boos and other stuff that people are expecting.

  • erinnthered

At 1:40 in the NB video…is that Malan Breton from Project Runway?

  • chicksineggz

I really hope the tour this year is more like S5 or S6 ‘s format. I didn’t like how in S7 each contestant got a few songs back to back and that was mostly it. I want more duets and I hope they mix it up.

  • Cinemaniac86

    Jim and I are buds. :) .

I know, I’ve seen the chats with Rickey =). That was all part of the joke, haha.

  • KrazeeK120

Well, you know a lot more about him than I do. All I have to go on regarding his musicianship is what I saw on Idol: he can strum barre chords.

Also, he played the piano. And even “strumming bare chords” is more “musicianship” than many of the others showed. I really don’t know anything about guitar so I can’t make a judgment on Kris’ technical skills. What I do know that whatever he was playing sounded fine with the band and most of the rest of the contestants didn’t even play an instrument on the show so props to Kris.

I think it best for him not to close out the show.

I think it best for him not to close the show because he is not the winner. Only one of two things should come at the end of the show: the winner’s set or a group number. No solo other than the winner should come last. The winner should at the very least be allowed the last individual set of the show, no matter who it is.

Anyway, back on topic, another great interview from the top 2. Obviously they have to do some press together because their ends on the show came simultaneously so it’s really great to see two people who really share a close friendship do these interviews together. They are both really honest, yet really supportive of each other. No PR disasters or sufferers of foot-in-mouth-itis here!

I think adam wont sing songs like feeling good, Achange is gonna come or if i cant have you on interviews with Kris cause they will be compared and he doesnt want to overshadow Kris. And Mad world is his most mellow song.. ADAM looked tired… the first interview was boring..

  • Michelle

Pop/rock is the type of music that Kris says he wants to do, so it makes sense to me.

Well…I dunno how “rock” Kris really is, even of the pop variety, and even if he were there’s not really any pop/rock artists on Jive’s roster. It’s all pure pop and Pop-R&B. Well, we don’t know anything for sure till it’s announced so I’m not gonna stress :)

  • skylight1219

They’re both tired. Why don’t they let these contestants get some rest before pushing them out on the interview scene? This is all kinds of wrong and bad for their health. They need to rest not only their bodies, but, their voices as well.

    AI/19E = slave drivers.

LOL! Yeah, a lot of people say the same thing about Adam, but they need to see his Citizen Vein videos on YouTube before they judge him.

  • Mary102

Finally got to hear these performances from the show – Adam sounded amazing! And you could just sense the emotional connection with the audience – that was just really great to see – people mouthing the words, really connecting to him.

As for Heartless, idk, I’m obviously biased, but I just can’t get into that one as much. Mad World is just so much deeper and more moving, and Adam’s voice is so exquisitely beautiful on it. Heartless, to me, is just kind of there. But Kris did a good job too.

Interview was kind of boring, and short, but it was nice to see Kris talking more during it. Adam seemed to stay more on the sidelines for it, probably on purpose to let Kris shine more.

  • ShariG

Thanks for posting, MJ. I missed most of this this morning. I loved both guys in interview. Kris has been great in interview with and without Adam and Adam as expected was also great. Neither of them needs the other to be personable and in every way charming, but they are both cuter together. I am looking forward to concert and No Boundaries definitely doesn’t have to be the last song. Cookie sang Billie Jean as his last song. I suspect Kris will sing Ain’t No Sunshine, No Boundaries, Heartless, Falling Slowly and I don’t know what else. i actually loved everything he sang this year so whatever will be just fine with me. He has earned the right to be last and should be last. Adam will be great regardless of where his songs fall lin the program and I highly doubt than anyone would be leaving after Adam sings. They usually do a group number at the very end and it is so much fun to see them all interact with each other. It would be a shame to miss that whether you are a Kris fan or not. I agree with the earlier poster that it would be fun to have some duets or other combinations of singers this tour. I missed that last season.

  • ShariG

I don’t think Kris has to worry about Adam over shadowing him in the least. They are just very different. I think Adam sings Mad World because it is one of those that sounds good with just a piano to accompany him. He doesn’t play instruments himself and AI didn’t send out an entire band on this press junket with them. Mad World was one of his most acclaimed songs. I’m glad Kris is getting to sing Heartless and not just No Boundaries alone. He has to promote NB for 19, but Heartless promotes him as an entertainer and he has been knocking it out of the park.

  • Katie1

I have never enjoyed AI as much as I have this year…Kradam is what kept me watching…Adam is amazing and I cannot get enough of Kris’s Sexy voice….
For the fist time I didn’t care who won because I knew they would both have great careers….I am in my early 30′s and I will be going to see them on the AI tour (is that crazy for a 30 something year old to want to see them?) …I don’t care who closes the show but I have to admit it would be great if Kradam did close the show with the song they did in the last Ford video…I loved it…

  • ShariG

The performers typically do meet and greets after the show with those people with tickets to the meet and greet before they come out to sign autographs for other fans. People have plenty of time to line up outside for autographs after the concert is over. There isn’t any real need to be rude and leave early. I think the people who said Kris bores them and at least they can leave early might not actually do it when the concert is actually happening because it really is a lot of fun. I didn’t see any Archie fans cutting out after Archie and before David Cook took the stage. Too much Mavid fun after Cook’s set. They always try to have something really great to close the entire show that will be of interest to all of the fans, not just fans of the winner.

  • http://krisallenonline.blogspot.com/ kizgold

I really want a Kradam moment on tour also, but a new song. Kris is not Adam’s backup musician.Don’t even mind the idea of Kris playing while he and Adam sing, but not playing one of Adam’s songs. Just my 2 cents.

  • isisdagmar

ShariG: If you don’t mind my asking, I’ve bought a ticket to the concert, but how does a person buy tickets to the meet and greet? Also, what was the “Mavid fun”?

  • ross

Finally got to hear these performances from the show – Adam sounded amazing! And you could just sense the emotional connection with the audience – that was just really great to see – people mouthing the words, really connecting to him.

This is exactly what was happening when Kris was singing No Boundaries, also.
It was sweet to see all the kids mouthing the words along with him. Despite what I’ve read here I didn’t see or hear that Kris had less of an audience response or fewer cheers than Adam, and I’ve watched this stuff a couple of times.

I think Adam sings Mad World because it is one of those that sounds good with just a piano to accompany him. He doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t play instruments himself and AI didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t send out an entire band on this press junket with them.

I think he also sings it because it’s his hit song at the moment, it’s the song of his that’s highest on the charts.

  • skylight1219

I don’t want Kris playing backup guitar for Adam. They both deserve their time to shine on stage. However, a duet would be nice. I also don’t think there will be any problems for Adam regardless of what area of the country they are in. I would hope that people aren’t that nuts. And, if they are, they should just stay home.

  • xdahlia

ahh i love kris’ facial expressions. especially that last one after the interviewer suggested a nail saloon person.

    MJ, have you seen this?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWf3qzNHBYg

Adam talked to Access Hollywood about the Clay Aiken fiasco. LMAO at his answer, Adam-1 Clay-0

  • mandabutter

Yes, ‘archieallen’ Adam-1 and Clay-zippo. He said something similiar re: Clay’s blog on a morning show radio, Scott and Todd, I think?? MJ posted a thread, it was about 1:30 in the interview (that’s totally from memory, don’t hold me to it.) GREAT ANSWER. I love the 2 thumbs up in the Access vid!!

Today Show performances and interview — Love KRADAM, I told myself I wouldn’t get emotionally invested in this season after I went crazy for Cookie last yr. (Still am :P ) But, I am just eating up these interviews, I can’t get enough!! Kris and Adam were both amazing and fun to watch.
Keep it up MJ!! We love all your hard work!!

  • alyssanix

    Kris Adam = CUTENESS!!!

I love seeing the guys together doing interviews. They’re awesome separately but they’re AWESOME together. I hope we get another duet during the Idol tour. Or do I have to start bribing people?

And Adam gets an A for dissing Clay. Clay was totally asking for it.

  • KrisAllen1

I heard from a Kris fansite that he did have fans and a good crowd Ross. I also didnt get why people said that Adam had a bigger crowd on here.I heard they
both have crowds of fans.People were singing with Kris and thats a clue.

  • melvel

On the show, it wasn’t really clear to me how good of a guitar player Kris is, but when I saw his impromptu performance of Come Together during his Arkansas visit (it was in one of those radio stations, I think)… I thought that he really has some mad guitar skills. Check out that video.

  • Mary102

Speaking of the tour – anyone know about actually meeting them after the show? Is it total pandemonium? Not really possible? Only possible if you have the meet and greets? Every year I tell myself I want to meet them, but I always chicken out at the end ;-)

Not to mention, I wasted 2 hrs at 1am in a bad part of town after Daughtry performed, only to have him rush by with hardly a nod :-( Kind of a let down.

  • liz_dc

ahh i love krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ facial expressions. especially that last one after the interviewer suggested a nail saloon person.

Sorry if this has already been posted…..Susan Boyle came in 2nd in BGT.
