Caleb Johnson – The Journey Begins: Part V

Country singer RaeLynn: ‘I’m not the kind of girl to take off my clothes’ – RaeLynn’s elimination from season two of “The Voice” didn’t stop the bubbly blond from pushing forward in the music industry. It took a lot of hard work, determination and faith to get to where she is in her career. “I very much believe in God and believe he’s helped me get where I am today and he keeps me calm,” RaeLynn told FOX411. “Growing up with God on my side and helping me through this journey — it’s crazy [but] thank you Jesus. I’ve always been that way…I pray and I cuss.” Praying and cussing are just two of the many things RaeLynn learned from her mentor and musical inspiration Miranda Lambert, whom she has toured with. – Read more at FOX News

Gwen Sebastian: Blake Shelton affair rumors are ‘stupid’ – Gwen Sebastian thought she finally got her big break when she joined Blake Shelton’s team in season two of “The Voice.” The North Dakota native had spent many years touring with her band and was ready to begin her solo career when she was axed right before the live shows. Sebastian continued to work on her own music, including a number one hit duet with Shelton called “My Eyes,” which prompted rumors of an affair. “Honestly, I just don’t even look at any of rumors,” said Sebastian who is married to drummer Louis Newman. “We all think it’s silly and stupid and we love each other. I don’t know how I can pay back Miranda and Blake — they’re just cool people and I love them.” – Read more at FOX 411

Good for RaeLynn! Maybe singers who take their clothes off do it because they can’t attract much attention any other way.

  • ptebwwong

I just saw Ella Henderson (XF UK finalist) perform on GMA. She has a #1 hit in the UK & several other countries. Is she getting a major push in the US?

  • girlygirl

I can’t think of any current female country artists who take off their clothes. So RaeLynn’s in the right genre, anyway :)

I don’t think it’s necessary for any artist to take off their clothes to attract attention. But it isn’t something that bothers me all that much one way or the other.

  • girlygirl

I’ve read that the label is planning to push her hard to the US. I really like her current single.

  • Bernice

Well its about time that she’s being acknowledged in the US. Glad that she finally got to debut on US TV.
Her song ‘Ghost’ is brilliant, and been number one almost everywhere.

  • ptebwwong

In the article, RaeLynn is talking about not showing too much skin in general. She says she won’t post bikini pictures. Current female country artists showing too much skin is actually common.

Here’s part of the press release announcing Brad & Carrie’s return as CMA cohosts for the 7th consecutive year…I feel like the implication from Brad’s quote is they are going to be formally credited as writers for the 1st time this year, but it’s not explicitly acknowledged. I’d think and hope David Wild will return as head writer, they’ve made a great team along with show executive producer Robert Deaton.

“Carrie and Brad are unmatched as a hosting team,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “They have impeccable comic timing, industry credibility, critical acclaim, and a natural rapport that makes them popular with our live audience and the viewers at home. We are delighted to have them presiding over ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night.’”

“Brad and Carrie are more than hosts, they are an important part of the CMA Awards brand,” said CMA Awards Executive Producer Robert Deaton. “They bring so much to the table beyond what you see on stage during the broadcast. They are gifted creative collaborators, who routinely raise the bar and set the standard for live television hosting.”

“Over time there’s been an evolution of who we are as hosts of the show – what fits, what’s comfortable, what’s real, and we love being a part of the creative team,” added Underwood. “We feel the responsibility of what this night means to our music community, to our fellow artists, and to the viewers at home.”

“Shoot, we’ve written a bunch of the jokes every year. This’ll just be the first time we have to pay union dues,” quipped Paisley.

I’m generally in favor of keeping one’s clothes on — not least because I live in a region where the cactus spring surprise attacks — but as soon as a rather marginal talent starts going all moral high ground on the issue, I want to buy things from gals in scanty bikinis just to be contrary.

  • No Thanks

Was this ever posted? The trailer for “A Walk Among The Tombstones”. ASTRO is a supporting character, he’s only seen very briefly in the beginning of the trailer. But this looks GOOD!

  • Mel432

Even Carrie has been showing lots of leg (she doesn’t have boobs to show). On AI show, Lauren showed lots of cleavage. Miranda reveals lots of cleavage. How old is RaeLynn? Maybe she’ll change her mind once she is in her 20s.

AXS TV Brings Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor U.K’ to U.S.
The music-focused network, a partnership with Ryan Seacrest and Mark Cuban, will broadcast episodes a week after they air on ITV.

  • ptebwwong

RaeLynn is 20 yrs. old. I do agree that most female country artists are showing lots of skin now.

  • Marko

  • girlygirl

I don’t consider showing off one’s legs as showing lots of skin. It’s not inappropriate at all — people all over the world walk around in shorts. Unless they’re walking around in really short, really tight booty shorts, lol.

I go to lots of writer’s rounds and shows in Nashville and the female artists for the most part are not flashing tons of cleavage or wearing really tight clothes.

  • ptebwwong

I don’t consider showing skin to be inappropriate. Actually, for some songs (Ex. Carrie) it makes sense to show some skin. I just think there’s certain performances & artists who show too much skin sometimes.

  • windmills

And gosh, Tim McGraw was topless in a recent Men’s Health photo shoot, plus the boys of Florida Georgia Line hardly ever wear sleeves.

Too, do we really know if Luke Bryan is wearing pants or he just paints his legs denim-colored?

    ;) ;) ;) ;)

  • standtotheright

The latter would explain a lot.

  • fuzzywuzzy
  • Mel432

People all over the world also show cleavage and midriff. What is showing skin, if not legs? Boobs with nips, and a nekkid butt, as well as crotch?

  • justbreathe

I like anything with Liam Neeson.

  • stef

No one really jumps to mind for me either. Short skirts, sure, but nothing particularly crazy / R-rated.

Unless she is counting Miley as a country graduate :P Or LeAnn I suppose in paparazzi pics

“Sebastian continued to work on her own music, including a number one hit duet with Shelton called “My Eyes,” which prompted rumors of an affair.”

I see their share of supermarket tabloid rumor-mongering on Blake or Miranda at the checkout line. Must have missed this one. Seems pretty flimsy stuff for a Major Rumor.

  • girlygirl

I’ve never seen anything about this rumor before, so it must not have had much steam.

Honestly, the part of the article that interested me was this part: “Sebastian continued to work on her own music, including a number one hit duet with Shelton called “My Eyes,” ”

That suggests (to me, anyway) that she wrote or co-wrote the song. But she didn’t: it was written by Andrew Dorff, Tommy Lee James & Josh Osborne.

  • stef

Even if she co-wrote it, I wouldn’t necessarily say that would make it her own music in the most important sense when to the public it’s Blake’s song in which she had featured vocals. Still, it’s a good thing to have had that chance and the song reaching #1.

The rumor thing in the article blurb struck me funny, as if it was thrown in there to attract attention or sympathy for her. It felt out of place, but admittedly I didn’t read the full article so may have missed more context.

  • Incipit

OK, so don’t take your clothes off. Seems like a reasonable call. But in response to what?

So, is she trying to let folks know that she was ‘invited’ to take her clothes off? Is that why she brings it up? What am I missing? A nudity epidemic in Country Music? It seems a gratuitous piece of information, without any context that I can see. So yes, OK. SMH.

  • Anny_nanny

When closer to Christmas, her career will go “nowhere”, she will be able to say proudly that it’s because she refused to undress.

Alex & Sierra ‘Just Kids’ Acoustic Video, Exclusive on
I think it will be released later today on Vevo

  • girlygirl

since a lot of the female reality show contestants get criticized for their appearance, their weight, etc., I thought this HDD article about songs addressing these issues might be appropriate to post here

  • Incipit

Oh, how nicely devious. I like it. I’ve even seen that ploy used before. All I knew about this chanteuse is that she was badly ‘pitch challenged’ on the show. That would be a better reason than a lack of nudity. IMO.

    Go figure. *Snerk*
