OK, between the news about the single, the Skechers campaign up and running, the new Facebook page, the SU2C bit, and the sweet messages fans left David here, I think I’ve had about as much good news as I can take in 24 hours span. Wow!!!
So much good stuff! When it rains, it pours… Guess there won’t be a magic rainbow after this rain though… LOL

I saw his facebook thing last night. :) I am loving facebook so much more than myspace these days, so I was stoked that his peeps put up a fb page too. Yay!!

these are good news. Probably looking at Sept. 30th or Oct. 6th for single release, which just sounds fantastic. By then, The Magic Raibow has probably sold a bit more than 900,000, which is also shocking but good.

mj, do you think the late September/early October info you heard would match the September 23rd rumor spread on XM radio today? That seemed logical when I first heard it, but I don’t know if it qualifies as “late” September enough.

You know what? Either way I’m stoked… To think that not a week ago people were still uncertain a pre-album single was even coming out at all…

Love that advert and all the wonderful news about David. TOML has sold 864,000 and I think we will see the Oprah effect next week taking it past 900,000 which together with his new single event will take TOML to platinum. I cannot wait to hear David ´s own tracks. I am so excited.

I cannot figure out to SU2C link. They have a list of people and David is not on it am I missing something? Sketchers add is good the girl is perfect the way she is looking at him. I’m hoping that the news of the single is true, but I’m guessing that it is. Tour coming to an end and they don’t want him to cool down too much.

Very nice photo for the Skechers ad. And, of course, he’s looking at actual vinyl records because that’s what all of the cool kids are into these days. Seriously, my son had me buy him vinyl copies of albums that he already has on CD for his birthday because the listening experience is supposed to be so superior. Ha Ha, wait til he’s listened to them a few times!

Sooooooo much Cookie news today, I’m all atwitter! It was clear in the last few days that something was in the works so I’m happy to hear that his single should be out within a month.

I was hoping to see shots in the Sketchers ad from that Extra clip we had seen – maybe those will be for their next ad campaign. I love that he’s in a “record store” in this ad, lol.

Lets be honest though, I would be more shocked if the sources were NOT saying the single would be released shortly after the tour ends when he’s available to promote it on all the talk shows which just returned from summer vacation!

The XM rumor I put about as much stock in as I put the supposed Grandma board/release on the 15th rumor. All I saw was a post on Idolforums that ‘someone’ at XM said the 23rd. Too vague for my taste. I trust MJ.

OK, so here’s a question… “Recording Artist” and not “American Idol”. Was it the same for Carrie? I’m curious if this is something specific to DCook.
And I bet we’ll hear a definitive release date and get a title for the single very soon. It seems like things moved from a slow crawl to a sprint… I don’t see them waiting too long to let more info slip.

All this single news has me so excited. With regard to the conflicting dates it might be that his song will be available to radio on the 23rd but not released to iTunes and/or have it’s add dates until late Sept/early Oct.

Um, I think the link above is wrong… This is the new Facebook page. It’s not a personal profile, it’s a musician’s page where you sign on as fans, upload pics and such.
So far, it’s alot more interesting than the MySpace page, that’s for sure!

A single from my boy. The only prob is I want to get it legally and here in Copenhagan you cannot download rom the Amerocan itunes store. We have our “own” itunes store but it sucks!

Does anyone know if I will be able to legally download it from his facebook page? I think my daughter downloads that way?

I’m not sure about downloading through his facebook page, but I have every intention of getting the song legally. I’m sure there will be a gifting effort to help those of us who live abroad and can’t get the single on our own.
I got TOML through someone kind who gifted it to me, and I’m sure David’s new signle will put people in a giving mood.

I still don’t understand why Amazon.com’s mp3 downloads are restricted to the US. If they were to open that up for international purchase (which they have with non-downloadable music), they’d be making tons off people who can’t use iTunes and still want to purchase music legally.

I’m not savvy enough to know how it’s done with iTunes (although that’s how most people gift, so I’m sure it’s not that complicated), but through Amazon.com you get a regular mp3 file, and the girl who gifted me TOML simply sent it to me via e-mail. Very easy to do.

I believe foreign versions of iTunes will carry the single, but my country doesn’t have one at all, so that leaves the kindness of fellow Cookies to rely on.
It’s just amazing to me that hard copy CDs are still easier to purchase legally than downloads (if you live outside the US). You’d expect it to be the other way around.

Make up a US iTunes account and buy a gift card (eBay, I suppose, not where I buy them though) and there you go, buy whatever you want. Or, make up an account and get someone to gift it to you.

I believe it will be available worldwide, maybe other countries will have it earlier than America. Not a big chance but that’s what happened with Pink’s So What, so, keep your hope up. LOL.

Apparently he said by the buses today the single will probably come out mid-October. :wallbash_tb: To go from late September to mid-October seems kind of drastic. I’m annoyed, but that actually seems more like typical RCA.

Yea I read where he said mid October for the single and that he was auditioning for his band tomorrow in Tulsa. Of course this is second hand from a fan so who knows. :sad_wp:

I already whined about the mid-October thing in the other thread, but so far we’ve heard a second-hand report that the date is 9/16 (from David’s grandma, lol, via some mythical “Grandma’s for Cook” site), XM’s report that it’s coming out on 9/23 (apparently heard by some IDF poster on XM 20 on 20), mj’s late September/early October at the latest, and now a secondhand mid-October date from David himself.

Well, if he gets the Archie treatment with a radio premier a month before his actual release and add date, I guess we could still hear it within the next 2 weeks. I think all the new promotional stuff going on over the last couple of days suggests that we’ll get some kind of news sooner rather than later.

Well the thing to keep in mind is what exactly will happen mid-October. Is that when the song will first be heard or is it or the adds date? Huge difference. Two weeks ago I heard Christina Aguilera’s new single was coming out 9/19 and yet last week it leaked and has been gaining airplay, but the adds date is still set for 9/19. With Daughtry It’s Not Over leaked the last week in October but didn’t go for adds until the first week in December. He said at the Bridgeport afterparty we would have info about the single within 2 weeks. So unless something changed at the last minute he may have been referring to just basic information like the title or actual release date.
