I just listened to his version of a thousand miles, I’m sorry but I think it is horrible. He takes a really pretty song and transforms it into a horrible, screechy, and dreary mess. Even Casey Carlson’s version was better.

Maybe screechy was not the exact right word to use, but he is just blasting out notes as high as he can go. There is no subtlety in his singing, and the cheesy piano background music that sounds like karaoke backing tracks doesn’t help him at all.

I love A Thousand Miles. I like David’s version better than the original. I never really liked the tone of Vanessa’s voice or how she sang the song. Zero Gravity is a lot of fun to listen to as well. My favorite though is ATM.

I can’t believe it. Archie was never my favorite last season, I was a Carly/MJ/Cook fan, but I have to admit, that I’ve ended up enjoying Archie more than I thought I would. For the first time, I’ve bought something from a non-Adam AI related artist, and it was ATM by Archie. What a lovely song! Way to go David, a bright future is ahead of you. Can’t wait for the Christmas album!

Nice to see Jive got iTunes ads this time around. Is Zero Gravity going out to radio or is this purely an iTunes release?

Echoing Jolene on the question of radio strategy for Zero Gravity. I’ve heard so much about this song being the savior of Archie’s career (although I don’t think his situation is quite that dire – heh). Any whispers about an adds date? I’ll admit with the new non-Christmas album already in the works, I’m a little surprised they didn’t hold this one off to be the lead single. Since they seemingly opted away from that, it would be nice if they could get him some airplay in the interim by releasing this to radio.

I’m another one who is interested in an adds date for Zero Gravity. I’m also curious about the itunes charting. If you buy the EP, does it chart under albums? If you buy each song seperately, when enough are sold, will they appear on the singles chart? I don’t particularly want the TMH video, but do want ZG and ATM. Am holding off purchase because I’d go ahead and buy the EP if they (itunes) don’t plan on charting the singles.

I think Zero Gravity would sound better without that remix… I dunno, but the remix sounds very cheap to me.
ATM is very in the Angels zone, I think those who like Archie’s Angels will like it.

Bought this last night. Both sound great. No suprise there. Surprised how much I like ATM, as I’ve heard it now so many times.

I wonder if they are waiting to see how well it sells before making a decision to release ZG to radio. Of course, it could end up tanking on radio like ALTNOY, so I’m not holding my breath either way.

I don’t think there is any intention to release ZG to radio. I think it was put up on iTunes to make David, Mike, and the fans happy. I actually think that the song might do well on dance stations but not pop stations. And maybe they decided to not put it on the album because it wouldn’t have fit with the other songs on the album.

I’m thinking that Zero Gravity won’t be released to radio and I’m not one who thinks this song would save a career that doesn’t need saving, anway. It’s a great song, and I love it, but David is capable of many great songs.

That being said, I listened to all three songs from the bundle on my morning walk and Zero Gravity definitely got me moving. Loving David’s version of A Thousand Miles, also. If you are a fan and are listening more than once anyway, try listening to Zero Gravity with your iPod equalizer set to “dance” and to A Thousand Miles with the EQ set to “acoustic” — very nice. His voice is so rich on A Thousand Miles, and the acoustic setting emphasizes this.

Well the album isn’t exactly a cohesive sound as it is. ZG would’ve likely fit much better than YEDL. I’m just sad that he only had one successful single off his first album. It makes me nervous for how well received future singles might be for him on radio. Jive, you better get your asses in gear and be ready to push his next single release on radio hard! There’s no excuse for ALTNOY not doing better than it did.

I don’t really fault Jive for how ALTNOY did. They put out two mediabase ads and David did tons of radio interviews. Radio just did not want to play it. Maybe because it sounds a bit dated. It probably would have done great back in 2000. I like the song and of course wish it would’ve done better. The only thing I think they messed up with is waiting too late to release it. They should have released it when Crush was peaking. I also don’t see why they took the HAC adds date away. At least then it would have been played on VH1 and it would have seen sales as well as the album. I think it would have been okay for this one song to just get play on HAC and AC.

I dont think that Zero Gravity will be realesed to radio :/… why because if they wanted to they will already have done it before the iTunes released day.

Is Zero Gravity just a remix of the demo he recorded? I like it (I bought it) but the ending is slightly anti-climactic compared to his live performance. In concert, David sings Eb-G on “Zero” before the final “Zero Gravity.” And it’s a nice kick (versus the Eb-C on “zero” on the single issued today, merely a repeat of the melody). If this is a remix, then I understand. He probably came up with the variation in concert and hadn’t thought of it yet when making the recording.

Only slightly disappointed with that tho. Still frustrated that, even with this fan pack, they aren’t marketing Zero Gravity like they could. David could use a few upbeat hits to build a track record and shake the Idol stigma in the music industry.

I agree with everyone that A Thousand Miles is lovely, but it’s a little gift to the fan base. he won’t get more fans with it–no matter how gorgeous it is. (I don’t mean to slam David–I like him–but look at what’s selling.)

Right now Touch My Hand is the #1 music video on iTunes overall! Because of that, he’s getting some free advertising on the front page of iTunes (i.e., a thumbnail in the top music videos section). Yay!

I love ZG, but YEDL remains my very favorite. I’m glad I discovered it on the album. I thought for sure YEDL would have been the song to launch him. TMH and ALTNOY do little for me.

There really is no one else more adorable than he is. I could just watch his Vlog’s all day long. What he considers boring and silly, we just relish.

Maybe I got my hope up too high. Was hoping Zero Gravity would make it as a hit. This version is lacking. Still bought it though, cause I enjoy his voice and music!

Last year, I got a poor taste in my mouth from the early Archu-pimpage– and maybe a fan or two that got a little carried away– and, I’ll admit, that residual taste did linger for a while after the season ended.

But, eventually, the more I saw of Archie himself, I eventually came to sincerely appreciate the kid as an exemplary human being. And now given the nature of this year’s post-season hyping with which we are being absolutely inundated, your boy looks like the epitome of class. What a fine example of an American Idol runner-up (or an American Idol or a finisher in any place, for that matter).

Anyway, looking forward to great things from him (and hopefully a little more of a piano-singer-songwriter vibe!)….

He’s never stopped touring and brings in 100k at a clip singing solo at various fairs. His appearances in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines were hugely popular. His Manila concert with Cook before 50,000 was completely sold out. Before that his solo tour sold out. It just stood out to me especially yesterday and it warranted my mentioning so. The contrast between last year’s second-place-finisher’s class and this year’s second-place-finisher’s crass couldn’t be more glaring.

And even if the media mania’s prediction of superstardom does end up coming true for this year’s runner-up, then I wouldn’t want that for either David. If that’s what defines a superstar, then I want don’t to see superstardom for either of last year’s guys.

Zero gravity is great! I can not believe it did not make the album. Well, at least we have it now… This should have been the NEXT David’s single, I am sure it would have done very well on the radio….
