But, “Hollywood’s Not America” singer, Ferras recently twittered that he was writing songs for Adam with famed songwriter, Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson)

Some of his dream collaborators? Madonna and Missy Elliott. About Elliot, Adam says, he’d like to do “Something a little bit urban’ something you can shake your booty to…”

“My record will be kind of a rock-pop-electronic-dance thing, ” Adam said in a recent interview, “I don’t know how to describe it. I think it’s gonna take on a life of its own, as far as genre goes.”

  1. Excellent! It is interesting–and good, I think–that they seem very confident that Adam is going to be huge around the world. Obviously they have to say good things about their clients, but between Simon’s comments about Adam being the first “world-wide star” they’ve found and this statement, it does seem like they are pretty globally oriented with him.
I really am so happy for Adam and Kris and Allison.

    “It’s going to be ridiculous!”

Oh, I certainly hope so. Adam seems really confident that TPTB are on board with his creative vision, which would be amazing.

  2. I didn’t think much of press releases before (usually it’s blah blah oh yeah they are an asset to our label blah blah) but I think they are being very obvious that they plan to market Adam to an international audience. I didn’t think they would do that, but I guess it speaks a lot for their confidence in Adam.

  3. Yayyyyyy Adam!!! So excited! Congrats, I can’t wait to get the album! :)

    (19/Sony – Allison next, pls? Okthxbye. :))

  4. Yayyyyyy Adam!!! So excited! Congrats, I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait to get the album! :)

    (19/Sony – Allison next, pls? Okthxbye. :))

    What Sarah said!

Oh, yeah, It’s gonna be ridiculous, lol. I love Adam.

  5. Yay Adam! So excited to see what the album will be like, sounds like it will be awesome. Such wonderful things said in this press release it really sounds like they think Adam will be a major international artist. I’m sure they’re seeing the dollar signs already. Glad we finally got the official announcement and it’s great to see some news about his music which is what most of us really want.

  6. As press releases go this was fabulous. I love what Simon Fuller had to say about Adam. It means that they are serious about promoting him and will be listening to him and (perhaps) giving him the freedom he needs to make the kind of album he wants.

And Lara Spenser’s opinion of Adam seems to fit with what most people have said when they’ve met him. The guy really, really, really seems to have star quality. And he’s super nice to boot.

  7. Guess I should say, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“congratulations RCA!!à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ :lol_wp:

    Exactly!

    And, what Sarah said! :-)

    WhoooooHoooooo RIDICULOUS, indeed!!!!!

  8. That’s one gloriously glowing press release. The excitement about his signing seems to jump off the page.

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

Congratulations Adam!!! Please do not disappoint.

  9. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know where to post

All news goes in the Headlines thread…

  10. And the great news keeps on coming!!! YAY ADAM!!!

Now, can we have similar news about Allison? Pretty please?

  11. When they say Worldwide star I think they mean like Madonna, Aerosmith, Bowie, Celene, and artists like these who are truly iconic. I am thrilled Adam signed with RCA… they are the label that handle all the successful AI contestants like Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry (even though he is a douche), and David Cook.

    Simonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s comments about Adam being the first à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“world-wide starà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

The funny thing about Simon saying this is if you look at other Idols, Kelly, Cook, Archie and Elliott for instance, they are worldwide stars. Kelly is in Australia right now, Cook & Archie just finished some shows in Asia, Elliott is also huge in Asia. If thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not world wide, I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know what is.

Maybe Simonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s definition of a world wide star is if they are popular in the US and the UK.

Well…I’d say Kelly is definitely a world wide star. But Cook and Archie are JUST starting to make inroads in a few other countries. Elliot is JUST popular in Japan.

When they say WORLD WIDE. They mean Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa…EVERYWHERE!

  13. LOL, they are releasing these in a timely fashion this year. I’m guessing the Allison/Jive one will come within a week.

  14. Simon Fuller and Barry Weiss said some GREAT things about Adam. Its obvious they are going global with this album. I can’t wait!!! I’m glad Simon and Barry use the word global star in their statements describing Adam. Since they are actually in the industry, they know whether or not there is potential there by experience… not just opinion.

Thank goodness they didn’t wait too long to announce Adam’s record deal, even though we already knew it was with RCA. lol

Are Jordin and Kris the only winners who didn’t get RCA? I always thought RCA was the winner’s label. I dont’ really follow labels though so I’m not sure.

  15. when do we get Megan’s announcement? LOLOLOL

I assume, since Allisonirahetaofficial.com is being worked on, hers is momentary.

  16. Congrats Adam! A dream come true for you!

I’m glad they got this out before Rolling Stone hits the stands.

  17. Congrats Adam and RCA! Hopefully they will together produce a truly great album from an absolutely awesome artist. They have said some very nice things about Adam in the press release and need to give him some real creativity on his album. Best of luck to all and we are waiting……. impatiently! :jittery_tb:

  18. I know this is off topic but why do you find Daughtry a douche PhDude??? lol

  19. Daughtry is a douche….. I thought that was verifiable. :lol_wp:

  20. I’m willing to make a bet right now of $100 to Children In Need that Lady Gaga will be writing one of the songs on Adam’s album.
In fact I just made that bet with myself and you guys have to hold to me to it if I lose ( to myself). Don’t forget.

Umm, there’s a flaw in the logic of this bet (I’m out of pocket either way) but it’s for a good cause so it’s all good.

  21. No, RCA is not the “winners label”. Taylor and Carrie didn’t go to RCA either.

    And congrats to Adam!

  22. Are Jordin and Kris the only winners who didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get RCA? I always thought RCA was the winnerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s label.

No, it varies winner to winner. Kelly and Cook are actually the only winners to be signed to RCA:

    Kelly went to RCA
    Ruben went to J
    Fantasia went to J
    Carrie went to Arista Nashville
    Taylor went to Arista
    Jordin went to Jive
    David went to RCA
    Kris went to Jive

  23. Congrats to Adam, this is most excellent news.

There are exceedingly high expectations on all sides which = major pressure for him. I fervently hope that his album lives up to the hype. We’ll see.

  24. Yea! Congrats to Adam! Fall cannot come soon enough, because I can’t wait to get his album! I love the sound of it already – I knew there was a reason I loved him so much all season.

I always gravitate toward the edgier pop music – anything with a good beat, darker, funkier – and even on a show like Idol that forces contestants to sing country and disco, I could tell that’s the kind of music Adam would gravitate toward. I even love the urban sound idea – that could be really cool.

A lot of current music really can’t be defined either – it’s become a mish-mash of all sorts of different influences, foreign, latin, hip-hop, r&b, rock. I think Adam fits that niche (or non-niche, as it were) perfectly! I would also love to hear some funky collaborations!

  25. I have another question that I hope someone can answer for me. 19 Records is his management company and RCA is who will produce his CDs correct? Therefore, Kris & Adam have the same management company but different companies to produce their CDs???

I have another question that I hope someone can answer for me. 19 Records is his management company and RCA is who will produce his CDs correct? Therefore, Kris & Adam have the same management company but different companies to produce their CDs???

As far as I understand yes, different companies , RCA for Adam, will produce and market their CD’s. Both however will be managed by 19.

  27. Simon Fuller and Barry Weiss said some GREAT things about Adam. Its obvious they are going global with this album. I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait!!! Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m glad Simon and Barry use the word global star in their statements describing Adam. Since they are actually in the industry, they know whether or not there is potential there by experienceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ not just opinion.

Completely agree about the global spin – Adam has talked about wanting to reach a global audience too (love of travel, performing in Europe, Asia, etc.) – and he seems to have a lot of fans already overseas! In the US, I feel we can be a little too insulated about who are artists are – many of them don’t translate well overseas, and similarly, a lot of big foreign stars have a hard time making it in the states. I love the global spin of Adam and his outlook on music, though! And I think his performances would travel well overseas! Bring on the world tour!

  28. Congrats to Adam!

American Idol produced only one global star and it’s Kelly. The chances for Adam to be second one are slim to none, good for him if he reaches the Davids/Jordin level of success.

IMO being an international star (for artist from US) is to be well known not even in UK, but in whole Europe. It’s been 8 seasons and I can count that kind of Idols on the fingers of one hand.

  29. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“My record will be kind of a rock-pop-electronic-dance thing,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Adam said in a recent interview, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know how to describe it. I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s gonna take on a life of its own, as far as genre goes.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Well congrats and good luck to Adam. I hope he’s able to pull off what he wants to do. However, I have to agree with past assessments that he’s not going to set the music world on fire with his first album and be some big change agent in the industry. Sounds like he’ll be marketed as a pop/rock artist which is safe because we know it’s tried and true. Sounds like they’ll market him sort of the same way as Kelly Clarkson is currently going. That would be ensure hopefully good success for him. The electronic dance thing raises an eyebrow for me because I just don’t see that selling well, AT ALL. But more power to him if he’s able to pull it off.

  30. Blake tried to be different with his electronic stuff and that didn’t work out too well, so I guess we’ll see what happens.

  31. I wasn’t sure making this official would be as exciting as it is because I already pretty much expected this via the rumor mill, but what Simon Fuller and Barry Weiss said is truly thrilling! As always, Adam will have to live up to high expectations, and I can’t wait to see/hear how he does it. As much as he appreciates this chance and as talented as he is, I have no doubt that he will. Congratulations, Adam!

  32. this kinda smells like Simon Fuller might be managing Adam…..any thoughts?

  33. Are Jordin and Kris the only winners who didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get RCA? I always thought RCA was the winnerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s label.

Actually, now that you bring it up, you got me thinking about it, and it’s more likely that runner-ups get assigned to RCA than the winner. I don’t think that really means anything because I honestly think that Sony tries to assign people to the label that makes the most sense. It’s just a cute coincidence that I noticed based on your question.

    Runner-ups:
    S1: Justin – RCA
    S2: Clay – RCA
    S3: Diana – RCA
    S4: Bo – RCA
    S5: Kat – RCA
    S6: Blake – Arista
    S7: Archie – Jive
    S8: Adam – RCA

As you can see with this list and Ladymadonna’s list, the only year that the runner-up and the winner were assigned to the same label was S1. That year, they also signed Nikki (third place) to RCA. Fourth place finisher Tamyra was exclusively signed to 19R and they released her album on their own. I don’t know Clay’s status, but other than him, the only runner-ups that remain signed with their original labels are Archie and now Adam.

Anyway, congratulations to Adam! Always great to get the news.

  34. Is this earlier than usual for record contracts to be announced?

I’m guessing they will announce Allison’s next (maybe by the end of this week), then a lot of guessing begins up to the August 20 deadline. (After that date, they are free to sign anywhere)

  35. Sunn Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll happily hold you to that $100 (although I agree youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re out money either way :P) Lady Gaga writing for Adam – Oh MY. That would be EPIC.

Thanks jerzytrash I’d appreciate that, I’m such a scatter brain. But Gaga would be epic, and I have a feeling it’s not too far fetched either.
We shall see. (crossing fingers, toes and eyes for luck)

  36. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know where to post, but I found a nice clip about Adam :)

Wow… this is great. Thank you for posting it!! She managed to say everything that Adam’s fans feel. And she’s right. Adam might have lost the competition, but he is still an American Idol, and the above press release proves that.

    Yea!!!

  37. AP about the Rolling Stone cover:

    Most interesting quote:

Lambert says he was inspired to audition for the Fox network singing competition after having a “psychedelic experience” at the Burning Man festival in Nevada.

    Thanks to mickeybordentwo from TWOP.

    ETA the quote.

  38. I would think Kelly qualifies as a global star. Not in the legue of Madonna but she is still world wide known.

  39. Blake tried to be different with his electronic stuff and that didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t work out too well, so I guess weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll see what happens.

That stuff is more popular overseas (such as in Europe), correct? Maybe he should have done more of his promoting over there?

  40. Is this earlier than usual for record contracts to be announced?

No, it’s the usual time. Last year, Cook’s deal was announced on May 28th and Archie’s on June 5th. Signings were announced a bit late in S6 (announced in August). For S5, Taylor’s deal was announced May 31 and Kat’s deal was announced Jun 7th. What is a little unusual is that the runner-up’s deal is normally announced a week after the winners. Perhaps they wanted to rush it out to have it out there for the RS cover?

  41. The electronic dance thing raises an eyebrow for me because I just donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see that selling well, AT ALL. But more power to him if heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s able to pull it off.

This term, of course can be used any number of ways, but my take was that he would go the more Lady Gaga route as far as that is concerned, and that is certainly popular right now. Heck, even BEP kind of falls in that realm.

As someone who listens to a lot of pop/r&b/hip-hop/rock music, I’d say the dance/electronic spin is actually way more commercial now (then again, it’s a fad, like so much else, and music is constantly evolving). The important thing is staying true to yourself, while also matching the changing tide of music (not an easy thing to do). But if the music is catchy, with a good hook and beat, and strong marketing, I think it would do well.

WRT Blake, no offense to him, but I never expected him to do much of anything after Idol – in fact he was one of the weaker runner-ups EVER on the show (just not much of a singer, and not very versatile). Thought his funky edge was cool, but the beatboxing? That is definitely not current. JMO.

  42. Here’s to hoping that the stars align and the muses work overtime to make each song a gem.

I’ve noticed that for past Idols, having just one bona fide hit song was enough to cement their star status.

I hope Adam and his collaborators can deliver a hit in all the genres he chooses to pursue!!!

  43. Is this earlier than usual for record contracts to be announced?

    No, it’s later than AI7.
They announced David Cook’s record deal – 5/29/08
    David A. – 6/5/08

Total gossip — and I mean gossip — is that the hold-up had something to do with Kris’ contract negotiations.

  44. Here is what it seems to be for the other finalists:

Danny – Waiting for August 20 to sign to a Christian label?

Allison – Appears to be next to be signed, presumably also to Jive/19E

Matt – Seems like someone who could get major-label interest, but to 19E?

Anoop – Hard to say. He might be more for acting than singing professionally.

Lil – The tour is critical for her since she collapsed in the finals. A bad tour = oblivion. A good tour = possible contract.

Scott – He has solid home backing (and several albums already), so a distributor might be helpful.

Megan – Rumor mill suggests 19E to pick her up, but would they really go for her over others?

Alexis – She deserves a contract, but would be hard-pressed to find one, unfortunately.

Michael, Jorge and Jasmine – Would be happy to be signed anywhere, even something little. Oblivion more likely.

  45. Wow, that RS cover is HOT!!!! And he says that Kris is his type and having him as a roommate was distracting at first. LMAO! Kris is probably cracking up at that quote.

And it’s just pathetic how ridiculously excited I am about an album I haven’t even heard yet!!

  46. after having a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“psychedelic experienceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

    huh?

  47. Here is a preview of the Rolling Stone Cover with ADAM!

That picture is totally hot… thanks for posting Phdude!!

  48. Nice cover shot, handsome! “Wild” idol! lol

Now THIS is the Adam fashion style I like (rather than the YH award look). That cover is going to eventually needs its own front page spot for sure!

  49. Hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the cover

    http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2009-06-09-lambert-rollingstone_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Yowza — I just saw the cover photo and read that little article. I think I mentioned on another thread that I might start drooling (when another poster mentioned the cover and said it was hot). Okay, officially drooling now…

I’m glad the RCA press release was so low-key — not! I know that if anyone has a chance to live up to these high (pun intended there — read the USA Today article) expectations, it’s got to be Adam. He already has an international fan base.

  50. All I can say is, WOOT WOOT. Rolling Stone awesome cover, 19 signing, 20-20 interview; it makes this Glambert’s heart go pound pound.

  51. Yeah, and no “I’m Gay” headline blaring from the cover. Good job, RS!

  52. Total gossip à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ and I mean gossip à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ is that the hold-up had something to do with Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ contract negotiations.

LOL. That Kris is such a diva. j/k

IDK, we started seeing Kris’s label updated to Jive quite some time ago. I think Kris signed in the usual amount of time. Maybe the PR person was on a holiday. Maybe they wanted to wait to see if Kris’s career would be ruined by singing the NA badly. Maybe they got rid of FAX machines in Arkansas because they are so 20th century and Arkansas is all about new technology like text phones. Maybe it took an extra week for Simon Fuller to get over his bitterness about losing so that they could get a nice quote from him. Whatever, it’s not like these announcements are unusually late. Is this “gossip” or “fan speculation”?

Anybody know what kind of snake that is in the picture? It sure is a pretty colour (I don’t see an apple. Maybe they meant the snake was apple green). Any word on the photographer?

  53. this kinda smells like Simon Fuller might be managing Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦..any thoughts?

Adam’s PR didn’t say anything about management while Kris’ did. If Kris is signed to 19M, I’m not sure it’d be a good idea for Adam to be there as well. I dunno, conflict of interest or whatever…?

  54. The closest to a global star in AI history is Kelly Clarkson. Kelly looked like she might breakthough as a global star in 2004 with her Album Breakway — 13 million WW, US 6.1 million — #1 in Ireland and NZ. But her two follow-up albums didn’t do that well worldwide.

She had one sign that hit #1 in a non-English speaking country, Switzerland
    “Because of You” in 2005.

  55. If he goes the Lady Gaga route, then I definitely won’t be getting his album. Popular or not, I cannot stand that overly autotuned robot with no sense of musicality whatosever. At least Adam can sing, but I wonder if they’ll water down his vocals with some overproduced electronic beats.

No thank you. Kris’s album will suit me just fine.

  56. Well, I see the snake on his thigh……..where’s the apple, lol.

  57. whoa nelly! hot hot hot! i can’t wait to read the whole thing!

i wonder how the Idol Machine feels about him talking about drug use… although i suppose it earns him some rocker cred :)

    oh and HELL YEAH!
    :clap_tb:

    (just for you elephant1212 :)

  58. after having a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“psychedelic experienceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Oh, a little meditation, a little sweat lodge, some ‘shrooms … lol.

Love that boy. Love the snake and the butterfly, too. For some reason, I’ve thought of him all along as Idol’s black and silver butterfly. And there the darned insect is, right on the cover. Guess I wasn’t the only one getting that metaphor for Adam.

  59. Holly crap!!!!!!! I just gasped out loud!! Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sitting in an airport. Everyone is staring at me thinkingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know what the hell theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re thinking but I bet ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s embarrassing.

    :lol_tb:

If it makes it easier, I’ll gasp with you. Holy crap, that is some gorgeous cover. *drool*

  60. OMG! The Today show just aired a segment and showed Adam’s cover of RS! HOT, HOT, HOT!! Lots of leather, his arms raised sexily above his head, VERY “come hither” look on his face!! They also quoted some of the info. I don’t want to be a spoiler. Adam is EXTREMELY candid. I think a lot of people will be VERY surprised at some of the things he says….

  61. Actually, Lady Gaga can sing quite well, which can be seen in her live performances. She is also very musically talented, she likes to do several version of her songs and arrange them differently. She plays the piano, don’t know about other instruments.

  62. Here’s a quote form the USA article for Kris fans:

But exactly what is his type? When Idol producers put him in a room to share with Allen, Lambert says his first thought was, “They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

And one quote for the ladies:

Still, Lambert, 27, says he doesn’t mind attention from the opposite sex. “I loved it this season when the girls went crazy for me,” he says. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hot.”

It’s all hot ladies!! The man is just sooooo….

  63. i wonder how the Idol Machine feels about him talking about drug useà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ although i suppose it earns him some rocker cred :)

At least he’s honest and admits it. Too many past contestants act like they are perfect and have made no mistakes. Thats when it backfires on you. Adam is such an open book. Its actually refreshing. I don’t think it will keep people from buying his music. Adam is such a mature sexy though. I want CD cover and music video now. lol

  64. Well I guess I should be happy the news of his signing with RCA lasted a whole hour before RS broke.

  65. What does Adam’s contract really mean in terms of guaranteed income and is it usually just for one year or longer? The first time I’ve really cared to think about this. . .

  66. Yeah, and no à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m Gayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ headline blaring from the cover. Good job, RS!

I never thought that would be the focus on the RS story. Part of it yes, but not the point of the article. Certain blogs/news outlets will zero in on the one or two lines that address it, but I bet we’re going to get to know more about Adam the person/artist.

  67. Awesome RS cover! The tease of the interview has really left me wanting to read the whole thing. Fascinating. I like interesting, complex people who have truly lived life.

  68. HELL YEAH!!! Remember when Paula said Adam would be iconic?! Well, you see it happening already. There are so many overseas fans (e.g., Mad World is getting tons of airplay in Israel) that I have no doubt that he will be successful world-wide. Adam will NOT put out a meh album; he is going to work with too many well-known artists/producers. This is big, people. You have charisma, you have tremendous vocal prowess, you have out-of-this world performance excitement: he’s got it all. And he is so humble about it, b/c he knows how hard it took to get here…I can barely handle it. OMG.

    :)

  69. OMG! The Today show just aired a segment and showed Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s cover of RS! HOT, HOT, HOT!! Lots of leather, his arms raised sexily above his head, VERY à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“come hitherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ look on his face!! They also quoted some of the info. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t want to be a spoiler. Adam is EXTREMELY candid. I think a lot of people will be VERY surprised at some of the things he saysà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.

Thanks — I just started recording Today (I’m on the West Coast). What time zone are you in, so I know when to look for this segment?

I’ll bet it’s going to be a BUSY day on the internet for Adam fans….and everyone else as well!

  70. I’m a big fan of Adam and if I could of would have voted for him during the competition but the talk of electronic, dance, Lady Gaga and Missy Elliott is not what I’m looking for in a record (and I do have a variety of tastes). Sunshinegirl I tend to think that too with all the talk of electonic etc I hope they don’t water down the vocals because that is his absolute strength.

    Great cover of RS.

twinkle it probably does earn him rocker cred (doesn’t earn any cred in my eyes though but the music community will embrace it)

  71. I’m going to wait to read the whole RS article, but the excerpts did not impress me at all. I purchased Adam’s music and saw his talent from early on, but from about mid season, I saw an actor emerging. The RS interview has him saying all the right things to be this edgy, cool, gay, wild pop star. Maybe this is who he really is, but the words come off as phony. Yes, coming out to RS is way cooler than just being who you are. Loves the attention from the ladies. It’s all hot! Kris is hot too, all good for the Kradam fans. Bragging about drug use. Oh well. The cover photo is very hot and should sell many magazines.

  72. This “could” border on too much information, but then not everyone reads RS. (hope he isn’t still using pot)….

  73. twinkle it probably does earn him rocker cred (doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t earn any cred in my eyes though but the music community will embrace it)

Sadly, no doubt it will. I’m glad he’s being up front about it but if he’s talking of being a role model for kids of any kind, he best not still be doing the drugs. Yes I’m being judgemental.

  74. What does Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s contract really mean in terms of guaranteed income and is it usually just for one year or longer? The first time Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve really cared to think about this. . .

Usually, the lbael extends an advance to artists. This money is used to record the album and pay for living expenses until the royalty cheques come in. There is no guarantee of income. Blake Lewis complained that he didn’t get any (I think he sold around 300K albums). Before royalties are paid, the advance must be paid back and some other costs (e.g. 50% video costs, touring costs (if the tour doesn’t make enough to cover the cost of the tour)). Out of the royalties you do get, you also usually have to pay the producer’s royalties and, of course, your managers. Plus, some of the royalties are kept in reserve in case your next album flops.

Recording contracts are normally measured in albums, not years (though, there is typically an upper limit to the amount of time that an artist is allowed to take to make an album). The label only has to release an album if they like it and has options for subsequent albums (i.e. in a three album deal, they may exercise the option for all three albums or they might not).

  75. Lizardino, I’m on the East coast so everyone else should have plenty of time to get all recording devices ready.

  76. Please don’t throw anything. MHO is the reason they are pushing Adam as a world wide star, is because many people in the US won’t buy his cds. IMHO, there are to many places in the US that feel Adam is a little out there. The Bible Belt, the Midwest are 2 that come to mind. Now every place is Hollywood.

  77. OMFG- snake, zipper jeans, lying down, open shirt….dies………flatlined

  78. Here is a preview from RS itself (with a video of the photoshoot):

    RollingStone

The flamboyant Idol singer hits our cover and bares all, talking about his childhood (à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ I started to realize I wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like every other boy,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ he says), the drug-fueled Burning Man epiphany that led him to AI (à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ I realized that we all have our own power, and that whatever I wanted to do, I had to make happen,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ he tells RS) and his run on the show (à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ I was like, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m going to glue rhinestones on my eyelids, bitch!à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“).

Burning Man led to him going on AI? That’s novel.

  79. Keep in mind that USA TOday is DEFINITELY going to pick out the most outrageous, inflamatory quotes they can find out of the article. We have no context at all with these quotes – it could be anything from total druggy (doubtful since I don’t think his lungs would be up to singing job if he was regularly smoking stuff) to just experimented a few times and not a big deal or somewhere in between.

  80. he also talks about his parents finding out he was gay at age 13 when he was looking at gay porn on the computer lol…flove him!

  81. Keep in mind that USA TOday is DEFINITELY going to pick out the most outrageous, inflamatory quotes they can find out of the article.

Yup. We’re going to have to wait until Friday to see the whole thing. I’m sure the whole article isn’t about pot and gay clubs. lol But that is what some will focus on to get hits to their sites and to sell papers.

  82. Given that Adam freaked out about not having his humidifier at the mansion because he needed to keep his vocal chords moist, I definitely think he’s too smart to still use pot (which I might add the legalization of which is being discussed in CA right now to fix the economic crisis; and I don’t know anyone under the age of 30 who hasn’t at least tried it–and I’m not a rebel.)

I genuinely love Adam’s enthusiasm in the PR. I could care less about the expectations and pressure from management; as long as Adam is excited about the project. There are no guarantees in this business, but as long as he has fun with the journey.

As far as electronic elements. Adam said that rock will be at the core of the album, but he does like electronic elements (see “Born to Be Wild” as an example). Of course, the ballads won’t be electronic. He’s also stated that it will be a mix. A little for everyone. So, if you don’t like only a couple of the songs on the album, that would be a major coup.

  83. DEFan — thanks for the time frame! I appreciate it.

I think that Adam just continues to be Adam in this article. He’s always said he’s an honest guy, and I see this article as just a continuation of this. Considering how much gay kids still have to overcome in our country (even in places like San Diego), I think he is remarkably mature and grounded. I also don’t think finding out about some drug use would be too much of a shocker to anyone. Some of the places in the country that have the highest drug use among teens are in the midwest.

The fact that Adam is goal-directed, proud of who he is and forthright about it makes him a pretty good role model in my opinion. BTW, I say this as a person of strong faith who really appreciates someone who is NOT pretentious and trying to be “perfect”. His life is a REAL life, and all the more fascinating for it — and I can’t wait for his album! WOOT indeed!

Those pants he’s wearing in the photo shoot are the ones he wore for “Whole Lotta Love” — not that I pay attention to this stuff or anything…

  84. Well, as this RS article will prove, Adam’s one of those MMV type people, as is Kris (in different ways), I think. (and Allison, Danny … lot of them in the group this year.) Some love each of them to death, and some wouldn’t be caught dead near one or the other (or both!) of their albums, I’ll bet.

Now, if people were still buying music, albums, concert tickets, etc., then that would work out fine since there are 300 million of us just in the U.S. and billions more around the world, and you don’t need to sell *that* many albums to get everybody a nice return on their invested bucks. But with music sales dropping, who knows if it’s enough to be a MMV person today? If enough people love you so that 500,000 people actually *buy* your album, will that be enough to keep them signed? It should be — but I don’t know whether the record companies have copped onto the new economic realities in music or not.

Will be interesting to find out.)

  85. I just look at the cover after reading all the posts — thinking that I would be sooooooo much cooler having been “warned” that it was hot. But I have to say I was breathless for a moment.

That is one hot cover photo!

Please donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t throw anything. MHO is the reason they are pushing Adam as a world wide star, is because many people in the US wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t buy his cds. IMHO, there are to many places in the US that feel Adam is a little out there. The Bible Belt, the Midwest are 2 that come to mind. Now every place is Hollywood.

I’m not throwing anything but I do disagree. I live in Mississippi, in the “buckle of the Bible Belt”, and have many Mississippi friends who adore Adam. I know Kris fans in California and Adam fans in Alabama and Tennessee. So please put away the broad brush.

Is Adam for everyone, no probably not. And he’s been pretty clear that his first album was not going to be ballads and show tunes. Although I would love to hear his gospel ablum, I think that I may have to wait a long time for that!

  86. That RS cover, wow…umm just WOW! As for the drugs, Adam seems like a smart guy and has worked hard to get where he is, I have totally faith that he won’t do anything stupid to mess it up. It’s nice that he is so open about everything. Some of it is a little out of my normal comfort range but that’s the thing about Adam, he is getting me to think about things I haven’t before. I can’t wait to read the whole article, it will be interesting to hear what contributed to making Adam who he is now. I have a feeling this article may seperate the real Adam fans from the kinda Adam fans. It will be polarizing just like everything else Adam.

  87. Is Adam for everyone, no probably not. And heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been pretty clear that his first album was not going to be ballads and show tunes. Although I would love to hear his gospel ablum, I think that I may have to wait a long time for that!

He might well throw some of that into his live concerts, though! Clearly, from Change is Gonna Come, he loves that flavor of music, too, and knows he does it well. And lots of things turn up in live concerts that don’t show up on albums…. which is to say: I’m looking forward to his gospel stylings, too.

Well, maybe down the line a Broadway musical about a highly successful gospel-style singing, charismatic preacher who finally comes out as a gospel-singing, charismatic gay man. I’d buy tickets to that, lol.

  88. Burning Man led to him going on AI? Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s novel.

Hey, if Obama can admit to sampling drugs (pot mostly) and still be loved, I don’t see why Adam can’t.

  89. Given that Adam freaked out about not having his humidifier at the mansion because he needed to keep his vocal chords moist, I definitely think heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s too smart to still use pot

You can use pot without smoking it. And, let’s not forget that he decided to do idol after his psychedelic experience, which I would assume to be no earlier than 2007. I wouldn’t be at surprised that he may still be into some recreational drug use. As long as he stays in control of it, it’s no biggie.

I love Adam, but I think it would be naive to think that he may talk about some things in this RS article that aren’t going to make some of his Glamberts a little uncomfortable. He seems to me to be someone taking in life in great big gulps and people like that tend to do things that most of us might find quite shocking. It will be interesting to see what the response to the full article will be.

  90. Kristin, thanks for the link to the RS video. Really worth watching. He certainly sounds like he’s pretty real in that video.

i wonder how the Idol Machine feels about him talking about drug useà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ although i suppose it earns him some rocker cred :)

I don’t think that he would have discussed it unless 19 was OK with it.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m a big fan of Adam and if I could of would have voted for him during the competition but the talk of electronic, dance, Lady Gaga and Missy Elliott is not what Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m looking for in a record (and I do have a variety of tastes).

There is lots of electronica that doesn’t have munipulated vocals. They are far more likely to auto-tune Kris’ vocals (like The Fray, Mraz, etc.) than they would mess too much with Adam’s vocals — but I agree if the do over-synthesize Adams voice it will be a mistake.

Even when Adam was an unknown session vocalist, they didn’t alter his vocals significantly. Listen to the MTV America’s Best Dance Crew “We are the Champions” Hip Hop track and he vocals were left mostly intact on the two final dance tracks.

  91. Go Adam! Finally, people should stop wondering about your sexuality (as if it matters to me). Adam showed his sexuality via photos of him kissing a man, holding hand with drake but there are people who still wants their pound of flesh. They still want him to say it. (Personally, i wanted him to just show it rather than say but hey what every Adam wants i am fine with it. Now its out, people and SO WHAT! I still believe in him and love him. Glambert fans still love him and will support him. He is still a hottie!! Now that it is officially out, let’s see if America will react and proved that it is indeed a homophobic nation. (Personally, i hope not but reading some other entries online does point to that direction.)

I salute you Adam. Just concentrate on your music and you will do well. You fans will continue to love you and support you. GO GLAMBERT!!!

  92. As far as his drug useà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve now had THREE Presidents who have openly admitted to drug use (Bushà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“no commentà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ which is a yes to me notwithstanding.) And I think that if he can create a a slight schism with the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Just Say Noà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ crowd to having his younger fans à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“secretlyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ listening to his music (Hairspray anyone?), more power to him!!

Exactly! lol I”m sure we’ve had more than just those 3 Presidents that have experimented, not counting at least a quarter if not more of our Congressional members. And lets not forget our olympic gymnist Michael Phelps!! Admitting you’ve done something in the past is very different from advocating that same behavior.

  93. Well, as this RS article will prove, Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s one of those MMV type people, as is Kris (in different ways), I think. (and Allison, Danny à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ lot of them in the group this year.) Some love each of them to death, and some wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be caught dead near one or the other (or both!) of their albums, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll bet.

    What is MMV?

  94. “Matt – Seems like someone who could get major-label interest, but to 19E?”
I really hope 19 decides to pick Matt up, even though some are saying that it may be best fro him to wait for a label that would be better inclined to promote him the way he needs to be promoted, I just can’t wait very long for some good news!!
Anyway, I am kinda surprised that I am not hearing any buzz on Danny, he seems to be slowly drifting into oblivion…
Congrats to Adam (and Allison cause we all know it’s coming soon)
And if megan gets signed, I may be one to buy her album, We’ll see….
LOL at Adam being “distracted” by Kris :tongue1_tb:

  95. They didn’t wait long to release Adam’s contract after Kris. I thought they’d at least wait a week. Maybe we will get another one tomorrow at the rate they are going.

  96. This is a great press release. They seem to have a lot of confidence in Adam. Did anyone really think Adam has never tried drugs? I thought so. But, I think he’s at the stage in his life that he isn’t going to lose it. Everyone took the Drag pictures and went with it and now we know he only dressed like that a few times. Might be the same with Drug use.

I think his album will be a mix of lots of stuff. He, like all artists, will record a bunch of stuff. But doesn’t mean it’s going to make the album. This summer will be a process for him, so even he doesn’t even know what the end result will be.

Losing was good for him though. He was able to get the contract that he wanted.

  97. Congrats to Adam :) Wow, they sure announced as quickly as possible for him!

LOL at getting high inspiring him to audition for AI. and whatever Kris did to distract him, I guess it worked when it needed to. Muhahaha :devil_tb:

  98. They didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait long to release Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s contract after Kris. I thought theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d at least wait a week. Maybe we will get another one tomorrow at the rate they are going.

Kind of makes me wonder whether, like me, they ended up being big fans of Kradison. I love all three, and it would be hard for me to pick a takes-it-all-and-goes-beyond-the-others winner, too. So let’s have a rollout of contracts one after the other.

(Sorry, Danny. I was prepared to love you, too, because I like your vocal tone, but you just never stepped up with enough variety or subtlety for me, dawg. Better luck in the future…Matt and Anoop — I kind of love you both, too; maybe somebody will pick you up and help you develop your fine talents.)

  99. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“To find a talent as exceptional as Adam Lambert is a rare and special event,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of American Idol and Founder & CEO of 19 Entertainment. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I am thrilled that American Idol was the platform for the world to discover this brilliant young man. He is unique and unforgettable and a certain star of tomorrow.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“There are no longer any rules in terms of where the worldà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s next superstars may come from,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO RCA/JIVE Label Group. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We are thrilled to be getting involved with Adam Lambert as we all at RCA Records believe he is one of those rare, future global starsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ .

I don’t recall 19E and a record label Chairman ever speaking so positively about an Idol runner-up or even an Idol winner for that matter. In the press release, I think that 19E and RCA have clearly signalled that they will put their full resources behind Adam. Combine this support with his talent and I do think that he has a real chance to be a “global star” and probably one of the most successful, if not most successful Idol contestants EVER.

  100. He, like all artists, will record a bunch of stuff. But doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t mean ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to make the album.

Good point. A lot of times they record like 50-100 songs, but only 10-12 make the cut.

  101. Something I posted:

Burning Man led to him going on AI? Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s novel.

    A response:

Hey, if Obama can admit to sampling drugs (pot mostly) and still be loved, I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see why Adam canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t.

I’m sorry, I don’t see how my post even addressed the issue of drugs let alone seemed to be critical of them.

Burning Man is kind of a counter-culture celebration. American Idol is more closely aligned with corporate culture (big contracts, powerful management). So, I just thought it was kind of interesting that somebody would cite Burning Man as the catalyst for trying out for American Idol. I don’t think there is anything wrong with this motiviation. I just think it’s interesting that there are so many roads that lead to Idol.

  102. Kind of makes me wonder whether, like me, they ended up being big fans of Kradison. I love all three, and it would be hard for me to pick a takes-it-all-and-goes-beyond-the-others winner, too. So letà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s have a rollout of contracts one after the other.

Well…they usually let the first announcement “breathe” a bit before they roll out the rest. iirc usually the space is about a week between the first two. This feels more like Kris’ announcement was a formality and they did Adam’s as soon as humanly possible to take over the news cycle. I kind of doubt Allison’s will come out *tomorrow*. But eh, what do I know :)

  103. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t recall 19E and a record label Chairman ever speaking so positively about an Idol runner-up or even an Idol winner for that matter.

They did last season with David Cook.

  104. Losing was good for him though. He was able to get the contract that he wanted.

That’s the fantasy that a lot of fans of the non-winners have every year, but the fact is, if they’re under 19’s control, they’ll do what 19 wants. Adam may have some big ideas and they may be on board with some of them, but you really have to look no farther than Bo Bice to see how RCA works with runners up who are different from the typical pop star. They’re likely going to play it a little safe for the first album. RCA’s not known for taking big risks. Kelly had to fight tooth and nail for My December after already proving herself on the first two records. And yeah My December didn’t set the world on fire, but it’s by far her best artistic work to date and I think her fans appreciate it more than her big sugary poppy songs that get played a bajillion times a day on the radio.

  105. Reading this in the morning made my day a very happy one, can’t wait to get this album, his voice is the one thing that I adore, and I couldn’t care less about the genre so as long as he doesn’t go the auto tune route, I’m gonna enjoy it.

  106. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t recall 19E and a record label Chairman ever speaking so positively about an Idol runner-up or even an Idol winner for that matter. In the press release, I think that 19E and RCA have clearly signalled that they will put their full resources behind Adam. Sorry, but, LOLOLOLOL.
They called Cook “one of the greatest talents ever to be discovered by AI who would sell millions of records”. They also called Jordin a “future global superstar”. And, Blake Lewis was called “one of the most unique Idol contestants ever”. And one more for the road: Taylor Hicks was “expected to sell at least 4 million” at the time of his album release.
Press releases are supposed to be glowing, and seeing as 19’s world currently revolves around shoving Adam Lambert down the public’s throat, I would expect this one to glow in the dark. It means absolutely nothing in the long run, though.

  107. Wow.. Adam is the 4th most trending topics on Twitter. People can’t get enough of this guy!! lol

  108. They called Cook à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“one of the greatest talents ever to be discovered by AI who would sell millions of recordsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . Good point. I guess the Glamberts are entitled to bask in the glow while they can though. Only time will tell if he lives up the lofty expectations that are being set before him and the ones he has for himself.

    This.

  110. Good point. I guess the Glamberts are entitled to bask in the glow while they can though. Only time will tell if he lives up the lofty expectations that are being set before him and the ones he has for himself.

    ———————————–

Well I voted for only Kris but Adam was my 2nd fave. I have to say.. I think Adam may be one of the few who can live up to expectations. So glad we found Kris and Adam and Allison. I would listen to Kris every day, Allison when I am feeling my tuff chic moments and Adam when I just want to dance around and rock out a bit.

  111. From Lucy:
“Well, maybe down the line a Broadway musical about a highly successful gospel-style singing, charismatic preacher who finally comes out as a gospel-singing, charismatic gay man. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d buy tickets to that, lol.”

    The Ted Haggard Story?

Wasn’t Burning Man so much as it was the ‘shrooms at Burning Man. … Now, *hallucinations* getting you to try out for Idol — makes *much* more sense to me!

    The Ted Haggard Story?

Well, not quite. Ted could’ve been the basis for that score, but he missed his chance because he keeps on trying to cram himself back into the closet, lol. So far, I’m afraid this musical is going to have to be wholly fictional!

  114. hellothere

The big difference is the buzz Adam started receiving from the beginning of the show. When people first saw him in the auditions, they started looking him up on youtube and saw how incredibly talented he is. Adam is far more unique and artistic than those you mentioned, and IMO, more talented. He is also charismatic and adorable, of which I don’t ever remember people mentioning about the above (not that they aren’t). What also differentiates him from the rest is the Young Hollywood Award he received Sunday, and he got far and away the most attention from that. Also his cover story and buzz of Rolling Stone mag. It is now all over the place.

It isn’t 19 that is shoving Adam down our throats. He is just the IT guy, and everyone wants to talk about him. Fortunately, Adam has mad talent, and that will carry him far, around the world.

  115. Great news for Adam, the AI machine is going full out for him, he is going either to be a massive success or the biggest failure out of AI, anyway it should be entertaining.

    Just waiting on Allison now…

  116. Great news for Adam, the AI machine is going full out for him, he is going either to be a massive success or the biggest failure out of AI, anyway it should be entertaining.

The worst thing that can happen to Adam is fronting Queen or having the lead in Spiderman on Broadway. So, no, he will never be the biggest failure.

  117. The worst thing that can happen to Adam is fronting Queen or having the lead in Spiderman on Broadway. So, no, he will never be the biggest failure.

With all the hype that the AI machine has surrounding him, he needs to outperform every single previous contestant right out of the gate. After all, he is their first star, right? To hell with Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. He is all there is, right? Anything less would be a failure, with such unprecedented promotion, both during and post show. Hell, they’ve even relegated the winner to room dressing in order to further their cost. In all technicalities, everything Lambert related should be selling like nobody’s business right now, and he should have outsold Kris post-finale by a WIDE margin, taking the lack of Kris promo vs. Adam hyperbole into consideration. And, well….he didn’t.

He is also charismatic and adorable, of which I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t ever remember people mentioning about the above (not that they arenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t).

I definitely think Glamberts are right to bask in the glow, but statements like the above always needs some YMMV qualifiers. There are actually lots of contestants on AI every year who start receiving buzz at the beginning of the show due to pre-Idol stuff. How incredibly/undeniably talented those youtubes prove him to be, well, that’s a mileage thing. Besides, only big fans really look those up. Adam’s buzz on the show for the vast majority of America was due to what he did on the show.

And sure, in your opinion, Adam is “far more unique and artistic” than the other Idols mentioned, but I wouldn’t say that’s what everyone thinks. I also like his personality a lot, but I personally don’t think he’s adorable. I just don’t get the sense that everyone in the media is buzzing about his adorable-ness any more or less than the past Idols. I do think he is getting tons of buzz in tons of areas– the only thing I can safely say is he’s getting more buzz than past Idols in some areas, and maybe less in others, heh. I guess buzz is hard to quantify, but more importantly, it’s hard to predict what current buzz means for the future.

So anyway, is Adam signed with 19M? The PR was vague on that. Kris’ was clear, but Adam’s didn’t explicitly state that despite the glowing quote from Fuller.

  119. With all the hype that the AI machine has surrounding him, he needs to outperform every single previous contestant right out of the gate.

    Not true. LOL

  120. Adam’s candor is extraordinary. I felt like he was sitting at my kitchen table. Adam is the straightest guy I know. Which is alot, because ever since high school gay guys and me stick. I guess because the are like one of the girls-only better lol.
Adam’s manerism is masculine: he fights guys and flirts with girls. He actually said that he’s feeling “Bi-curious ,going the other direction” and that he would maybe try it with a stranger (woman)-I think he should do it with a groupie yeah! that’s Right!! my # is 1 (908) ADAM-FAN LOL.

  121. With all the hype that the AI machine has surrounding him, he needs to outperform every single previous contestant right out of the gate.

    Not true. LOL

Why is that not true? If someone is hyped up to be the best thing since sliced bread, well, they should be. If someone claimed to have a cure for cancer, it should cure cancer. If someone is supposed to be the best thing to ever come from American Idol (which must be the case, as his media coverage thus far is virtually unprecedented), they should be able to prove it in sales and industry respect. The hype is happening now, so he most definitely should be able to do so right out of the gate. Unless, of course, the hype has no substance to it. In that case, yeah, it’s not true. And yet, the hype train rolls on. So, I am expecting massive sales and multiple Grammy noms to go along with the best album ever. LOL

  122. hellothere, it’s not true because Adam is not the one doing the hyping. The hype comes from external sources beyond his control. Just because you are buying into the hype and expect massive sales and multiple Grammy noms (what, not wins?) doesn’t mean he needs to fulfull your expectations in order to be successful.

He has never said that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. What he has stated is that he hopes fans will like his album, that he hopes he will like his album.

  123. i can’t wait to get my RS copy. i looooved the video.
i would love if he worked with jim steinman (Meatloaf, air supply)onsome tracks.

This. And I think a lot of Adam’s fans think he has a better-than-average chance at being very successful, and it would seem that TPTB agree, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to become Madonna with the first CD. Maybe some people think that, but most fans have more realistic hopes. I just want him to make a good album and hopefully have it do well, and then he can go from there.

  125. To hellothere : I don’t think Adam is getting “shoved down anyone’s throat.” The public is demanding him, are hungry for him and can’t wait for his album or for that matter any little snub of information about him. After all the moving and super fantastic performances on Idol there’s no question it will only be more fantabulosness. Go, Baby, Go!
