Britney Spears Confirms X Factor Departure

Britney Spears releases an official statement confirming her X Factor departure:

“I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season.  I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it’s time for me to get back in the studio.”

“Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much!  I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”

According to TMZ, Britney is negotiating for a lucrative Las Vegas residency. Plus, there are reports that she’s hoping to do scripted comedy series. She’s just signed on with new agents. She’ll be represented by CAA for any future deals she signs.

Well…good luck to her! I don’t believe her X Factor experience hurt her. Simon and company look worse for X Factor ratings fail, despite having one of the biggest pop stars sit on its panel

“Oh no, you’re kidding! What awful news!”, said absolutely no one anywhere.

Not surprised she is going for a Vegas gig. She needs a very controlled environment. A scripted show in a closed set would be good too.

I definitely think this didn’t affect her in the least, she was the face (or at least her face was in many gifs) of the least popular singing competition, but she was undoubtedly the star, the show failed on its own, it wasn’t her fault, and she had a minor music hit with the will.i.am song. This isn’t a leave Britney alone thing, the fault is entirely Simons, there aren’t any Cheryls, Nicoles, Paulas or Steves to blame now.

No, it did not seem to hurt her, but. It did not exactly help her either. I do not think that her song sold any better than it would have had she not been on the show. Her handlers probably were banking on higher rating to boost her sales. If the ratings are not high it really does her, or the other judges, no good.

Seriously? Is Britney an adept comedienne? I don’t follow her, so I have no idea of her previous experience in this kind of television show.

I remember a while back she was on How I Met Your Mother. She wasn’t too bad, but she wouldn’t be able to carry a TV show IMO. Even if the show tanks, I think this will be better than staying on XF though.

She did OK on HOW I Met Your Mother, but nothing to write home about. It helped that her character was slightly off kilter. Her inflection sometimes sounded odd or flat. I did not watch X factor but it sounds like that maybe her speech pattern. Maybe as a result of the meds.

I still have a long term concern over a talented young lady who is massively bi-polar at best and schizophrenic at worst and who is undoubtedly on a full bore regiment of medications that tend to zombie someone out in the best of scenarios.

I am sure that many of the people around her truly care about her as a person, but it is probably hard for any of them to step away from their meal ticket.  I so admire someone like Kristie McNichol who got it those many years ago and decided to live her life out of the spotlight instead of put everything out their continually for the gossip press to have a field day with.  Britney has two lovely boys and enough wealth to ensure a good life for all 3 of them.  Its a shame those around her will not let her lead it.

She was OK on How I Met your Mother, but she was AMAZING when she guest starred on Will and Grace a while ago. She played a Southern butch lesbian posing as a hardcore Republican to make it in the TV industry and came on as Jack Macfarland’s cohost for his talkshow. She actually had great comedic timing and good chemistry with Sean Hayes. The girl is more talented than some people give her credit for IMO. That role changed my opinion of her when I saw it. I wish her luck!

I missed that one. Was it before or after the breakdown and the medication? I ask for comparision purposes.

Once somebody becomes a big enough celebrity, lots of people apparently think they are highly qualified to do anything whether they really are or not.

TMZ is reporting that her and the fiance have broken up….he’s with ICM and she moved to CAA….hmmm…..wonder if his booking her on XF had anything to do with that?

She’s guest starred on Will & Grace and How I Met Your Mother before, I thought she was pretty funny on both.

Britney isn’t the first “unqualified” judge to take a seat at the table on these judging shows lol. Even people who I thought would be great, have let me down. Hopefully she can remain focused on her music and maybe find a new boy toy to revitalize her. Time to clean house Brit!

A TV show would be good, because the poor girl cant sing :)

  • Trina

Britney has sold over 100 million albums over the course of 15+ years and is one of the richest women in showbusiness all because of her supposed lack of singing ability. If she ends up doing a TV show I figure it will be because she WANTS to do one not because she needs to.

I am not convinced anyone is making Brittany perform.  I think it is what she knows and loves and she is not ready to give it up.
Her sister was not pressured into continuing in the business and I don’t believe her family is pressuring her either.
Perhaps Brittany suffers more when she is not working—we just can’t know.

She’s a thirty one year old woman with two children and her father makes all of her decisions for her. Considering how bad she got, her parents intervening and having her committed against her will, saved her life. But Britney has paid a price for her fame, she’s probably going to have to be medicated for the rest of her life and daddy dearest will hold the reins to her fortune until the day one of them die.   As for her “supposed lack of singing ability”, it’s a proven fact, she only lip syncs. When was the last time she ever sang live? I have no doubt she’s going to do another album and then she will stumble through another tour. It’s what she do, because that’s all she’s been trained to do. She’s a little puppet dancing to the tune of her daddy puppeteer.

I liked her music, but Britney wasn’t good on X-factor and came across boring and odd.  I’m glad she’s gone.  I hope if that obnoxious Demi Lovato leaves too. I didn’t care for their personalities or judging.
