Remember Antonio “Skii Bo Ski” Wheeler from American Idol season 9? judge Kara DioGuari and guest judge Mary J. Blige were impressed with his smooth soul stylings. And although Simon Cowell thought he was awful (He was REALLY smarmy) Wheeler advanced to Hollywood.

Well, now the Idol alum is wanted in Orlando for armed robbery. Via Orlando Sentinel

An Orlando man who was tased several years ago while strapped to a hospital gurney — and who later competed on “American Idol” — is wanted in an armed robbery that police say started with an offer to sell cheap computers.

Daytona Beach police Saturday obtained an arrest warrant for Antonio “Skii Bo Ski” Wheeler, 25, on a charge of robbery with a firearm. Officers say he offered to sell a man and a woman “overstock” computers in the parking lot of Best Buy, 1900 W. International Speedway Blvd., Friday about 4:10 p.m.

Wheeler again met with the two a short time later at a nearby Target, where he showed them two FedEx boxes he said contained Mac laptops, a report states. Then Wheeler demanded money and lifted his shirt to show what looked like a 9mm Glock handgun, according to the report.

Wheeler had successfully sued the City of Orlando in 2005 after he was tased by a police officer as he was handcuffed and strapped to a gurney at Florida Hospital after an arrest on a cocaine charge. The Officer pulled the taser after Wheeler resisted a hospital worker’s attempt to catheterize him.

If some who auditions doesn’t make it past Hollywood week then they shouldn’t be considered an “alum” IMHO.

I remember him as a bit sleazy with an affected way of singing.

He’s an alumnus? At what point are you not an alumnus? When you just sit at home and watch the show?

  • mjsbigblog

Quibbling about the meaning of “alumnus? Really? LOL. He made it past the judges. He’s an “alumnus”.

I think, as the years past and more and more people are under that umbrella, I’ve narrowed my personal definition of an alumnus.

You’re wrong, MJ.  It’s like someone who attended a few classes at a college then quit is an alumnus.  In my book, performing on a live show is required for “alumni” status.  I suspect some people will have tougher requirements, which I can understand.
