Oh, poor Adam Lambert and Sarah Silverman–the victims of lame award show patter as they introduced the Best Comedy category at tonight”s VH1 Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Yeah, Sarah goofing on Adam’s coming out probably looked good on paper…but…

But hey, Adam sure looked spiffy in his suit and new haircut!

Yeah, it was lame, but that shape-shifting line was funny!

Poor Kristen Chenowith had the worst of it, with horrible skit after horrible skit.

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Adam looked great and yeah for playing WWFM when he walked on stage. The jokes were typical award lame. At least Adam didn’t have to make the jokes.

And seriously I can’t believe they let that Jonas kid be the house band. Maybe he is a good songwriter and guitar player, but he’s just not that great of a singer.

• mr

Exactly!! These joke are usually lame, so at least it wasn’t Adam getting the awkward silences… and his one line did get laughs- “Sarah- who doesn’t?”

• LeHommeAdam

They played WWFM! Love it, Adam was gracious and gorgeous. :)

• JosieX

Adam looked very cute, but how unfortunate that they cut the camera to a laughing little kid right after Silverman’s penis joke. That was weird, I don’t know why they would do that.

• suenigma

Oh my! Unless you are receiving one, award shows suck bigtime. His suit and hair looked beautiful, but he needs a lighter/more natural shade of make-up, IMO.

• Truthiness

Well his hair looked better than some of the pre-show stills. And it was lame, but at least Adam’s part was mercifully short and knowing Sarah Silverman, it could have been much, much worse. So all in all, I was okay with it.

I really felt badly for poor Chen who, from what I read, had a hard road to slog through.

Well, I am back to now The Big Sleep, whose dialogue just really makes the lameness of this even more painful.

• bridgette12

That Jonas kid and his band needs more practice. As for Adam, what can you say, very nice eye-candy. I heard Sir Paul McCartney was there, I hope Adam got a chance to meet him. I would totally freak out if I met him.

• iluvai

All I saw was Adam and SS presenting. HELLO!!!! That is how I have felt for months! Loved it. Someone should persecute me cause I like P. It was funny how Adam tried to keep the focus on the award. Adam is about the art people! Leave the dude’s personal life alone. Or maybe we should start criticizing everyone for their personal choices. :( grumblee….

I think that it is because he (the kid) was at the same table as Sandra Bullock, and her film was nominated in that category. Definitely awkward though.

• Jae

Stupid skit but I have never thought Sarah was funny. Adam’s little aside worked for what its worth. He looked awesome though.

• cher

MJ, spiffy is exactly the right word for Adam tonight. Another would be “pretty.” lol How silly were some of those jokes tonight?

• karenw

Seeing as Adam was working from a script I presume he won’t get banned from the network for implying he liked penis when there was a child in the audience … lol

• houstonrufus23

I’m still confused as to why he was there, but whatever. I’m growing used to it.

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Does this award show seem low budget? It’s important, from my understanding, because it is a good indicator of who will get the oscar nods/wins.

Hey I wonder if Tarantino and Adam got to meet up. I know he liked him on idol.

Nice that Adam got this gig. Not sure why he was there, but I’m happy for him. Too bad 2012 wasn’t more critically well received.

Now that is the skit SS and Adam should have done. Something to spoof that movie. Adam could have sung it’s the”time for miracles” to get the critics to give 2012 a good review.

Allen Lambert Critics Choice Movie Awards – VIDEO

Freudian slip, MJ? You really wish you had an excuse for another Kris thread? ;)

• skat-girl@allycatlover

I luv me some SS but evvn I found that awkward. I think they did the best they could with it but honestly I cant think of 1 funny scripted scene at award show except ben stiller & Natalie portman at the oscars. I think Adam looked pretty sexy tonight(I don’t find him sexy but I could see who others do) but I disagree with you guys on the hair. Adam, your a 27 year old man, not a 16 year old gender ambiguous boy who’s fighting against the “conformist”

yes I realize that my jokes are as lame as award show ones but I embrace it.

• hollygo9

Freudian slip, MJ? You really wish you had an excuse for another Kris thread?

It tricked me into looking at something I would have ignored.

• skat-girl@allycatlover

can’t edit my last post but just need to address that yes, my grammar/spelling in that post is really bad.

Freudian slip, MJ? You really wish you had an excuse for another Kris thread?

No. But I’m sure there will be peeps who think I did it on purpose. Sigh. Rough night tonight. Sorry kids.

• Kanadie Bonttell

I didn’t get her joke “like when you water those tiny huh penis’s or something” WHAT?

• ross

There’s a lot I don’t understand about modern show business, but one thing I really don’t get is why people like Sarah Silverman talk like that in front of little kids in the audience (and probably watching on TV). I think it’s inappropriate. Plus — a much worse crime — she is not funny. The whole patter was pretty bad, I don’t know how people get paid to write such junk. Most people who write on this blog could write something better.

I agree Adam looked good.

• mawmo

I enjoyed the show. Lots of respected people (Morgan Freeman, Meryl Streep, Paul McCartney, James Cameron, etc.) and box office stars (Sandra Bullock, Tobey Maguire, Bradley Cooper, etc.)… And then there’s Sarah Silverman and Adam Lambert… oh yeah, I forgot, it’s shown on VH1.

The only thing funny in the video is Kristin’s expression after she introduced them as “America’s favorite new sweethearts”

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Wow, I just saw the joke Kristen made. She said she slept with both Adam and Sarah and only one of them liked penis. Meow!

• iluvai

I think it’s funny that folks are worried about their grammar and spelling. It is what it is. lol…

MJ, you rock!!!

• Bowie1

Adam looked very handsome tonight. Liked his hair but I have no idea what you can call it to add to Emo and Elvis hair!

Dumb skit but Adam did his best to keep to the business at hand…giving out the $@#%&*# award! I’m not a fan of Sarah’s type of humor and I think she went on too long with it all. Lots of awkward moments.

That said, I thought alot of the banter and lame try at comedy by other presentors just flat out failed and left for boring tv. I’m all for just getting up there, saying some nice things about each candidate, giving out the award, and getting off the stage!

Hope Adam enjoyed himself and met lots of industry people that will be good connections for Adam in the future!

• JKL

I don’t understand why Adam’s friends don’t tell him when…a look doesn’t flatter him.

His hair and makeup here looked terrible. He has potential to look SO good. I don’t get it. Why does he intentionally ruin his looks? Why cover a freckled fresh face in 8 pounds of foundation? Why the silly side parting fringe. ?? His best friends REALLY should advice him.

And I can’t f-n stand Sarah Silverman.

I respect Adam and very many industry and people in the know respect Adam Talent and vocal ability as well. Same with Sarah Silverman. She can be a little to crude for my taste sometimes but does not make her any less talented and respected in the industry. Especially in the Comedy world.

• iluvai

I guess as usual everybody has their own opinion about everything Adam. I loved the hair and the suit, had a cool rock star look. I really didn’t care about how much many lines he got in that skit, I was happy to see him on the Red Carpet. The important thing was he was invited and had a chance to meet some of the big stars of Hollywood, including producers, directors and other heavy hitters.

• unique28v

The skit was real lame, but then I don’t find Sarah Silverman that funny.

Adam looked great though! That was a really nice suit he had on.

• tiger92

I don’t understand why Adam’s friends don’t tell him when…a look doesn’t flatter him.

Because he looked fucking fabulous! I’m sure his friends thought he looked good too!
He wears make-up because he wants to. It is his choice, others don’t have to like it. Just like some people have tattoos or curl their hair or pierce their nose. Everything is a personal choice made by the individual.
He must be doing something right because everyone wants to photograph him and the camera loves him.
It’s all personal taste anyway. Shrugs.

• iluvai

It was great banter between two presenters and also an FU to all the ridiculousness (is that a word?? :) ) that Adam has had to endure. If Adam isn’t about art and music, I don’t know who the heck is….

• Justin8602

I’m still confused as to why he was there, but whatever. I’m growing used to it.

I think he’s there because, he’s popular and they figure his name will pull in some viewers. It worked on me anyway, because if he wasn’t presenting I wouldn’t have tuned in. And in fact as soon as he was finished I changed the channel and watched the end of Miss Congeniality on TBS for the gazillionth time, lol.

I thought him and Sara’s shtick was pretty funny and kind of a nice satirical commentary on what’s plagued poor Adam’s career from the get go.

Now I’m just waiting for the Kris fans to start bitching about why they would ask Adam to be a presenter and not Kris, lol.

I kidd I kidd….kind of…just remember folks, diff career paths now…it’s no longer about the two in a competition anymore.

• unique28v

Oh yeah, and its awesome they came out during Adam’s song!

• unique28v

It was great banter between two presenters and also an FU to all the ridiculousness (is that a word?? :) ) that Adam has had to endure.

Very true. The whole thing has been ridiculous. It looked like the crowed enjoyed it too. I just think it went too far with the watering thing.

• Teri63

Loved the hair and suit and actually thought his makeup looked great. He was gorgeous, and as they panned the audience, I couldn’t help but notice how he stands out even in a room full of stars! He was only shown a couple times that I saw (he was in the background once when they were zooming in on Kevin Bacon and was shown laughing with some lady when the audience was taking a stretch just before the last commercial break). I also thought the skit was amusing. SS did go on a tad too long, I guess, but it just meant more time to enjoy Adam on stage!

• iluvai

I thought him and Sara’s shtick was pretty funny and kind of a nice satirical commentary on what’s plagued poor Adam’s career from the get go.

Yes! I wish I could by you a Starbucks or a Dunkin Donuts! :)

Kristin Chenowith made about 10 jokes about her boobs. He has probably heard boob jokes too. :)

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

I just think it went too far with the watering thing.

ITA- if she cut that line, it would have been snappier. I think she was winging after the shift shape changing line and it didn’t pan out.

I didn’t get her joke “like when you water those tiny huh penis’s or something” WHAT?”

The only thing I can think of are those you can buy for like a bridal shower from an adult store that you can put in water and they grow bigger. Like you have souvenir miniature washcloths that are sold really small and compact and when you get home, you put them in water and they enlarge and become regular size.

• cayman

I thought it was very funny, and I thought it did indeed make the point they were undoubtedly trying to make. I also thought the Bullock/Streep kiss was point well made. Only my opinion. Adam looked amazing, and also looked happy and at ease. Hope he enjoys the after parties, pretty good networking gig I would say.

• didilynn

I thought Adam’s make-up looked great – I liked his outfit and his hair was very edgy – all in all gorgeous! He spoke very well (didn’t seem nervous) and was loud and clear (good timing). I was worried that the humor would be really lame (most everyone’s was) and it was only a little bit lame but also made a very good statement in Adam’s favor about how ridiculous it was to make a big deal of him being gay earlier this year – and yay for playing his song. It couldn’t have gone much better IMO!

• martha

Adam looked gorgeous, well dressed, and was very personable and professional. I didn’t like the skit, but, but Adam did a great job with it. I hope he had fun and I can’t wait to see him on Oprah Tuesday. Thanks for posting the video. I love you MJ.

• iluvai

I can’t wait for Tuesday!!!!!!!

• soverymel

It was VH1, not network TV. The kid who was sitting next to Sandra Bullock is either 11 or 12, which means he is a junior-high boy. He has heard penis jokes before.

Seriously. All it takes is the word “penis” to make my 10 year old cousin laugh his ass off. This phenomenon, which works with other naughty words as well, is pretty much the basis of 50% of South Park’s jokes.

• JKL

It’s all personal taste anyway. Shrugs.

I disagree. For example, I thought his suit was really ill-fitting. He’s lost a lot of weight and it shows on his legs so the top heavy layering of clothes he does with sleeves too short, make him look ridiculous.

I love tattoos. I like piercings, my bf has gauges. Stage makeup I totally understand. And love.

But too much blusher, too much foundation, a really bad, unflattering haircut….are all unfortunate choices. Makes him look tacky/OTT/annoying and somehow plastic. And I think he’s a really classy guy.

Honestly, I wish his friends would advice him to wear less makeup offstage for a start and push his hair back/wear it up instead of having it in his face.

• ScorpioBSB

Playing WWFM while Sarah and Adam came out was great. The skit was actually pretty funny. Adam made a great straight man for Sarah. His voice was strong, and interesting, when he was announcing. They got some of the only laughs of the evening….the crowd was brutal.

Best of the night: when Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock lip locked (full on open mouth kiss). That was a statement validating Adam IMHO.

Great day all around for Adam.

• soverymel

Honestly, I wish his friends would advice him to wear less makeup offstage for a start and push his hair back/wear it up instead of having it in his face.

Honestly, I think it must be a matter of taste because I thought he looked terrific, makeup, outfit and all. And it’s not like I always think he’s perfect, sometimes I just shake my head and go, “oh, Adam.” But I liked his look tonight. He left off the bronzer, which is a big plus in my book, and I love when he flirts with the steampunk vest and blazer combos.

It’s funny how many times he splits his own fans on his hair, makeup and wardrobe choices. But what I appreciate most is how he keeps it interesting, ya never know what he’s going to try next.

I actually think the Best Pic win for Hurt Locker was a sign of great support from the entertainment industry in LA for Adam. Adam has experienced hurt and I’m sure he has had a locker at some point. I’m sure he’ll win the honorary oscar for creating world peace. Even if he is not nominated.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment….le_to_win_.html:

Critic’s Choice Awards 2010: Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep make out; Kathryn Bigelow is Best Director

The women of Hollywood were shown a lot of love at this year’s Critic’s Choice Awards, particularly Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock.

The stars gave audiences an eyeful when Bradley Cooper announced that they had tied to win Best Actress: Streep for “Julie & Julia” and Bullock for “The Blind Side.”

Streep and Bullock took to the stage and proceeded to give each other a spontaneous open mouthed kiss, much to Cooper’s enjoyment.

The smooch was no doubt an homage to the Adam Lambert’s controversial same sex kiss at this year’s MVMAs. And if anyone wants to complain, they’ll no doubt get the kiss off.

HSPR Cuba Gooding Jr and Adam Lambert spotted downing Grey Goose cocktails at the Critics Choice Awards after party! #CCA

(Cuba and Adam are hanging out? LOL)

iluvai: Thank you and I would never say something like that to someone else’s post because it sounds like a comment a third-grader would make. Oh well.

• cher

Undercooked and Tiger92, a pic of the kiss is on VH1.com

BTW Tiger92, I was watching Ellen on tivo from a few days ago when Ke$ha was performing and there was Lisa, playing 2 keyboards at the same time. Awesome.

Ok. I’m really not trying to be an ass, but I have to ask. There are people who actually think Meryl STREEP and Sandra BULLOCK were making, during their acceptance of their award for Best Actress, a statement about Adam Lambert?

Just want to be clear on this.

• tiger92

I love tattoos. I like piercings, my bf has gauges.

But some people find these things to be the most unflattering things a person can do to themselves. Are they right or are you right? Or is it just a matter of personal taste.

I disagree.

That is fine. It is a matter of what YOU find to be attractive in a person.
For myself, I’m sticking with Adam looked fucking fabulous!

On a VERY shallow note- those pants fit right in ALL the right places!

I don’t really know what was going through their brains. It’s a comment the NY Daily News made. Maybe you should contact them and ask them. The link is in my post above.

• JosieX

It was VH1, not network TV. The kid who was sitting next to Sandra Bullock is either 11 or 12, which means he is a junior-high boy. He has heard penis jokes before.

Kristin Chenowith made about 10 jokes about her boobs. He has probably heard boob jokes too.

This was in response to someone else’s post, but I want to clarify something because I also mentioned the little kid. My reaction was not that the content of the show should be geared to children, in fact, I was here the night of the AMA awards defending Adam. But I still think it was a weird thing to show, whether the joke was about a penis or boobs, it’s kind of jolting to have the reaction shot to a joke of that nature be from a little kid. It just seemed weird to me and if I had been the director of the show I would have chosen a different shot at that particular moment.

• adamisthemanfan

yeah I must agree this look isnt my favorite…somehow it just doesnt look very elegant or “clean” I mean the gloves were a bit much… he indeed wore too much makeup and the haircut is a little too cutesy and ‘coiffed’ (and makes him look more eccentric than he really is) if that makes any sense…
I do think Sarah Silverman is funny and I get the humor in the the little skit but it would have been way better if Adam would have been more into it and shot back with something more funny but since he didnt it was kind of meh…
I also thought the guy who accepted the award for best comedy (Im assuming he is the director) was rather rude…he gave Sarah Silverman a huge kiss and didnt even acknowledge Adam was there…
oh well, guess this is not his thing…
its not really enough to show up, stand there and look pretty, you have to be a personality in these types of shows to make it fun but w/e…I didnt even watch it LOL…cant wait for Oprah though :)

• Justin8602

• cookcricket

IDK, I always thought there was difference between cable and network TV.

• riaspark17

Sorry, I’ve seen this complaint elsewhere so I just want to address those complaining about Adam’s “16-year-old emo” look on a 27-year-old, um…he’s a popstar. He’s allowed to look outlandish and different. His image is a brand. Artists for decades have had unconventional and sometimes goofy looks that wouldn’t fly on us Joe-Schmoes. I mean, don’t even get me started on Gaga.

• Truthiness

Yeah, NY Daily News aside, yeah no. At least as far as I’m concerned. But I do think it was funny of Streep and Bullock to do.

• didilynn

I love the way Adam changes his hairstyle – never know how it’s going to look – and it’s one of the things that makes him so interesting. I don’t love every style, but I love most of them!

• JosieX

That’s true cookcricket, but I wasn’t even thinking about all that when I mentioned the little kid, it was simply that it was an awkard shot. I don’t have any interest in that other aspect and don’t want it to appear that my mention of the kid was intended to start that up, because that could not be further from the truth. (btw, have you had Donatos lately???? **sob**). ;)

I like how Adam changes up his look a lot. Some I like more than others, but it’s always fun to see what he’s going to do. I thought he looked really good in this clip.

• tiger92

I mean, don’t even get me started on Gaga.

Did you see Gaga on Oprah today? How about at the Sony booth at that trade show? You wanna talk about weird hair! Where are her friends? :)
Oh yeah…she wouldn’t listen to them because she is going to dress and do her hair how ever she wants to! And she has been doing this before she made it big!
Personally, I love people who aren’t scared to try new or different looks. I guess that’s just the kind of people I gravitate towards.

• isisdagmar

There are people who actually think Meryl STREEP and Sandra BULLOCK were making, during their acceptance of their award for Best Actress, a statement about Adam Lambert?

Well, I don’t think anyone was trying to make some giant political statement or anything, but it does seem like they were using the AMA stuff for humor.

I mean, they clearly were using it for humor in SS’s and Adam’s “banter” and I can’t think of what else the MS/SB kiss would be jokingly referring to–is there something else it could be?

And if they were referring to what happened with Adam, that doesn’t mean “OMG EVEN MERYL STREEP WORSHIPS ADAM AS THE NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON/GANDHI!!!”–it’s just a recent bit of entertainment news, and that sort of thing always gets used for humor in award ceremonies. :) And I can imagine that they may have wanted to poke some fun at the idea of a m/m kiss being considered “scandalous.”

So, to me it seems perfectly plausible, and nice, but not a giant deal. :)

• riaspark17

Did you see Gaga on Oprah today? How about at the Sony booth at that trade show? You wanna talk about weird hair! Where are her friends?

ha yes! I love Gaga for her goofy hairstyles, though I would never try them on myself in real life. That is what a popstar should be–an escape from reality, that is what entertainment is all about.

maybe I worded my “16 year old emo” complaint wrong.nI actually don’t think that Adam’s look is all that unique. Every emo guy in my school dresses like that. When I sayed 16 year old emo I meant that its such a poser look that its annoying when people who dress that way think that they dress so different and it makes them look cool and edgy. Anyway I could be sounding like a complete dumd fuck and this is JMO and YOMV

Adam has been dressing that way for a while, it is the typical younger Hollywood look vs. the gangster L.A. look, not just 6 year olds. Of course I live in L.A. and am frequently in Hollywood so it is no big deal to me. YMODV

All I know is :Adam was the most beautiful person in the room (in my eyes) He was totally captivating, and jaw-dropping gorgeous. I usually like the hair back (like ‘Elvis, or on The View) but, wow, he jsut looked so great. All the beautiful people there, he probably gave his appearance a lot of thought and wanted to feel good-it looked like he was happy. I love seeing Adam happy. I’m like a mother hen about him.

• isisdagmar

There are people who actually think Meryl STREEP and Sandra BULLOCK were making, during their acceptance of their award for Best Actress, a statement about Adam Lambert?

(can’t edit)

Although, of course, I haven’t seen the clip of their kiss/speech, so while just hearing about it made it seem like it could plausibly have been a joke referencing the AMA stuff, at least in part, maybe what they actually said or did made it clear that it wasn’t? :)

• Jurnee

Interesting to read all the different points of view – just goes to show again that it’s best not to listen to others as you’ll NEVER please everyone I guess.
I loved the hair because I’m not a big fan of the shellac/helmet look he often sports. I thought the make-up was gorgeous (sometimes the bronzer is too much) and since I never see anyone dressed “emo” style where I live, the look for me is cool and different. The patter was a little awkward but it usually is at these shows.

• Justin8602

I think Adam is having some fun post awards show partying! He just tweeted “Teddy’s”
Perplexing at first, but it would appear that Teddy’s is a popular night club at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA!

• agathe.hb

when I read MJ’s comments I was a little bit afraid in the beginning, but it’s all well – Adam got a good line and it was Sarah’s line about watering penes (penises) that was lame :)
I really like his look – I have noticed that he is really always dressed right up for the occasion – which to me shows his respect for others – like my mom always taught me – dress for the occasion – don’t overdo it but don’t underdo it either.

• will

I actually think the Best Pic win for Hurt Locker was a sign of great support from the entertainment industry in LA for Adam. Adam has experienced hurt and I’m sure he has had a locker at some point.

That should win the Critics Choice award for funniest comment of the thread.

• agathe.hb

will, I also liked this comment A LOT :D come on people, think of more references, just for fun :)

• Pinasluvsadam

maybe I worded my “16 year old emo” complaint wrong.nI actually don’t think that Adam’s look is all that unique.

Poser my ass. Adam has been like that since before idol. This type of look is not for the younger set only. And its cool to look the way he look coz IMO he looks cool and great. I live in asia and people like looking like that. It looks cool!! IMO, not everybody can carry that look but Adam definitely can. No big deal.

• Pinasluvsadam

So true Adamland!!

• will

Okay agathe.hb, it won’t be nearly as good but I’ll give it a go:

I actually think the Best Foreign Film win for Broken Embraces was a sign of great support for Adam. It was an obvious shout-out to his song “Broken Open” and the fact that the entertainment community is embracing him with open arms.

• Pinasluvsadam

Perplexing at first, but it would appear that Teddy’s is a popular night club at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA!

He did say during Young Hollywood Award that he can now afford Teddy’s. So happy for him. :)

I really found the whole thing funny. She is good.

• will

Oh, and of course we all know why the director cut to a shot of Matt Damon when Sarah and Adam came out.

• will

(Dammit, hyperlink got screwed up, but at least it works.)

• weareallinnocent

My absolute first thought: Adam looks fantastic here! Love the look and the hair. Frames his face nicely. It works!

(Ignore the criticism Adam. :-))

I thought the intent of the schtick was good, just felt a bit odd and awkward to me. I never followed Sarah until “The Great Schlep” during the 2008 campaign, at which point I appreciated her a great deal! Will, thanks for the link, that was fun! :-)

• oceana

Those same-sex kisses at awards shows started after the Madonna/Britney kiss. It’s kind of a running joke the past few years. The AMAs is just one more in a string of them.

Sarah Silverman is always potty-mouth and provocative. You can take it to the bank. She’s half funny and half offensive for the most part. I followed her for awhile on twitter but eventually stopped.

Last night the penis joke was funny at first but it went on too long and included some awkward pauses as the timing was off. I thought Adam played his part well. If they had stopped after he said “me too” or whatever he said in the beginning, it would have been funnier.

• Organic

Well, I think Adam looked great. I loved the vest. And I believe he came off intelligent and well spoken. Too bad he couldn’t have presented by himself. Best thing about the night was that they played WWFM while they walked onstage, and Adam had an opportunity for networking. There were some pretty big names there last night. I’m sure he charmed everyone he met during and after the show.

• Organic

Picture of Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep with this comment in the article:

The smooch was no doubt an homage to the Adam Lambert’s controversial same sex kiss at this year’s MVMAs. And if anyone wants to complain, they’ll no doubt get the kiss off.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/2010/01/15/2010-01-15_critics_choice_awards_2010_kathryn_bigelow_makes_history_as_first_female_to_win_.html

• will

That’s hardly an “open-mouthed” kiss.

Who knows if it was a reference to the AMA’s, I tend to think it was just a goof on the fact that they tied for the award, which is weird in itself.

• birchtree

I read through the thread before viewing the photos or the video. And really I was nervous to… hearing about the awful jokes, ill-fitting clothes, caked on make-up. I was expecting the worst. Whew… Sarah’s jokes were lame and as someone pointed out the timing was off. But Adam did really well and impressed me. I sometimes find Adam’s makeup to be too much but oh, it was perfect and he looked lovely.

I like Adam’s look and don’t find it inappropriate for his age at all. There is a zest about Adam… I like that. There is enough of “appropriate” looks in the world to last us for a lifetime. (I use the word “appropriate for effect!!! I do not believe that Adam’s look is inappropriate at all).

• Belle

well we all know that if he doesn’t win its cause of HOMOPHOBIA!! lol. Anyway BEST. POST. EVER.

skat-girl@alleycatlover, that is so ironic seeing as in your obvious anti-Adam bias, you are responsible for a couple of posts that could win prizes, though more the type akin to the Razzies.

Anyway, who says a style of dress associated with an image is limited to teenagers? By that token, shouldn’t all those rappers (who really need to be given a fully functioning mirror anyway) who are mostly around 40 have given up the outfits a long time ago? Shouldn’t all those old rockers have started raiding the old folks’ home for slippers and dressing gowns?.

Seriously, it takes a teenager to say something like that, though thankfully not all of them think so inanely. Don’t worry, you’ll soon realise your youth doesn’t end at 20.

The saddest thing that if you actually knew what you were talking about you would know that you’re using all the wrong terms to describe that look anyway.

As for being edgy, well it beats making no attempt to look any different to any other guy at the local bar and certainly performing while being dressed like a lumberjack.

As for different, no, this far down in the history of popular culture there is no such thing. However, there is such a thing as being different to the usual stale product of a bad cheese factory.

Seriously, it’s a shame no colleges do a course in Ridiculousness. You couldn’t just major, you could lecture.

• birchtree

Re: my last post… wish I could edit… my last bit isn’t exactly what I want to say… For me the more important aspect of Adam’s look (rather than his look vis a vis age), is that I don’t get any “poser” vibe from it at all. To me his look, in all its variations, is full of life. I like the vibe.

• lorismile

haven’t read the posts yet but…

I didn’t think it was as bad as I thought after reading MJs post Granted they could’ve stopped after adam said his “who doesn’t” line. Adam looked great and I thought he did a nice job on the comedy there!

• TwigLA

Now I’m just waiting for the Kris fans to start bitching about why they would ask Adam to be a presenter and not Kris, lol.

I kidd I kidd….kind of…just remember folks, diff career paths now…it’s no longer about the two in a competition anymore.

Really? Then why did you throw that out there?

I had to look up Sarah Silverman since the name didn’t ring a bell but the face was somewhat familiar. I noticed she had been on Monk a few times and I’ve seen her on Jimmy Kimmel’s show.

I thought the skit was mildly funny at the beginning since the irony of the entertainment biz is that being GLB gives you a competitive edge getting jobs or getting press. The only line I really laughed at was the ‘shape shifting’.

Adam looked good in his suit. I like this hair better than the Elvis and helmet hair look.

• Frozen

Belle, well said, very well said indeed!

Adam looked fabulous as always.

• sr4mjc

He looked gorgeous! Was the vest from his AMA suit? The boy knows how to recycle his clothes.

I loved his hair, the look. the tight jeans. Yummy. I hope he got to network a bit. The cast of Nine director, need a singer for your next musical?

But talk about horrible singing, why did they let Deathcab for Cutie sing that cover?

• Miss Chaos

I thought Adam looked cool and edgy!!! He looked like a ROCK STAR, no ROCK god!!!!!, I tell ya. Ya the girls kiss was about ADAM, I beileve it. He looked fabulous, I was more nervous for him than I bet he was. I loved that thay played WWFM when he walked out. When they did the skit, I put my hand on my mouth, oh no, they didnt go there did they? I guess Adam was ok with it, unless he didnt know exactly what she was gonna say. Some of the other skits were just lame, and the people didnt give any response. I’m happy how it all came out.

• ksgirlfordc

• lorismile

Okay, read the posts:
1. I love that Adam always changes his looks. You never know what he will look like on the red carpet. His hair, fashion, makeup, shoes… he’s never the same Adam twice.
2. I don’t think the kiss would be about Adam. At that moment, I don’t think Adam Lambert was running through Sandra Bullocks mind.
3, So happy Adam was at Teddy’s. Remember at the Young Hollywood Awards when before Idol he said something about hoping someone could get him into Teddy’s!!!! So cool!!
4. Really loved how they played WWFM as they came out to present!

So glad he didn’t trip on the steps to another ninja roll! HAHAHA….couldn’t resist!!!!

• luval

Just want to add I thought Adam looked exceptionally gorgeous. In this day and age it doesn’t matter what you want to look like at any age. Why should it? Emo, Elvis…whatever. With all the crap going on in the world and none of us knowing when our time is up who cares!!!! I am sick of the “age appropriate” line.

I’ve know about Sarah Silverman for years. She was Jimmy Kimmel’s significant other for a long time. Her humor has always been potty mouth. Actually much worse than last night. I agree, though, it went on too long . Sometimes these people don’t know when to edit. Adam was a true gentleman. Just luv him.

• mmb

ok so here is my very important question: during the ai season and the tour adam parted his hair/brushed his bangs to his left. Post tour he parts/brushes it the the right. WHY???

Sarah was Sarah last night — she did what she always does. At least it was the one time all night I laughed. That was one of the worst awars shows in history. Altho, i liked seeing meryl streep and sandra bullock tied for an acting award (and smooching) — who woulda ever thunk it? But I bet if Adam had smooched Bradly Cooper he would be raked over the coals, while the Sandy/Meryl smooch is applauded

• happycat14

I was surprised Adam was presenting for comedy. It really was a WTF mashup for presenting with Silverman. I wondered if he was presenting for best song. I thought maybe they were going to make a two Jews f’d by Jimmy Kimmel joke (she dated Kimmel for years) and Adam was cancelled by him. Seriously, I didn’t think they’d go for the gay but should have known. It was ok. I was cringing more at Kristen Chenoweth throughout, and thought she was not exactly the right host, though she’s adorable.

Come on, seriously, the Streep/Bullock kiss was just about them. I liked will’s broken embraces comment above too!

Adam looked great. It was a little like the AMAs announcement outfit. His makeup was more subtle. Can I ask if Sutan, his friend, does his makeup from now on? Because from the Oprah promo, his makeup was hideous. Or do the show people always do it? They gave him a bronzer thing. Adam has cheekbones. Not sure why makeup artists feel he needs to give the illusion he has them. Case in point, in the WWFM video, with everyone talking about his bare no makeup look, he clearly has makeup on, in that last shot, he has heavy eyeliner and mascara on the top, but nothing on the bottom, which makes them look naked. LOL.

If 19 is shopping Adam around to awards shows, does that mean he might present at the Grammys too? Hope that show doesn’t have the lame joke writers this does.

So glad he didn’t trip on the steps to another ninja roll! HAHAHA….couldn’t resist!!!!

Are you serious?! I had the same thought! :D
I loved how Adam looked. Love the hair down.
I think the hardest hurdle Adam has to overcome is the American idol hurdle. For some reason, idols are held to different standards, more along the lines of conformity.
He’s a singer/performer – he’s supposed to be funky and different (if he wants to be). What we’ve seen from him so far is tame imo.

• clearone

Best of the night: when Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock lip locked (full on open mouth kiss). That was a statement validating Adam IMHO.

Yep I bet Sandra and Meryl had it all planned. It was all about Adam. *rollseyes* These are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Do we honestly believe that they gave one thought to Adam? He might be pretty important in our world but in theirs he would be but a spec. The NY Daily News is somewhat misguided here I believe.

…and Adam looked fabulous last night. Loved the hair!!!

The skit was lame. Sarah needs to get more imaginative in her comedy.

• luval

OMG guys, I was thinking the same thing (about the tripping)!…But our boy would have handled it like a pro and laughed it off. In fact, it might have brought a funny twist to the show and prompted others to continue the “joke”. Anyway, glad it didn’t happen. I think this show was lame but a little better than the Peoples’ Choice Awards. I’d love to see him at the Golden Globes or Grammys or Oscars!! Just wishin’

• outer

1/ Was Adam the only singer who got invited to present?
2/ They played WWFM when he walked out
3/ She introduced him as American’ favorite sweetheart
4/ The girl kiss to prove a point?
I think the movie CCA adored Adam and supported him.

• JazzRocks

Kristin Chenowith made about 10 jokes about her boobs. He has probably heard boob jokes too. :)

Exactly. Double standard at all??

The entire show was boring & awkward. The Sarah/Adam banter got the most laughs of the night. His reactions to her comments were understated and perfect. Her “jokes” were a commentary on the double standard reaction to Adam’s gayness (and gayness in general). She probably took it a bit too far but it was still very appropriate.

And man, did he look good. The handsomest, classiest guy there.

• ShaynaRayne

I could have done without the jokes..Adam wants people to look at him for his talent….jokes or not I just wish people would just let it go…Other than that Adam looked gorgeous!

• angela

clearone, I usially agree with all your posts, but I disagree that Adam had nothing to do with Sandra and Meryl kissing. Yes, they are Hollywood biggest stars and I personally adore and respect both of them, but I believe that they are also human beings just like us and probably watch tv, listen to music and read some press. I think they know about Adam, and heard about the whole AMA thing for sure, and although I would not say that their kiss was about Adam for sure, that was the first thing that came to my mind as I was watching the show last night.
However, I do agree with you that Adam looked absolutely fabulous, outfit, hair and all, and that the skit was totally lame, I was cringing the whole time, but was very happy to hear WWFM as Adam and SS were walking in. :)

Also, OT, but how on earth Nick Jonas and his band get this gig?! They are sooo bad…..

• Laury

I just saw it. Wasn’t that bad in fact this is the first time in my life I like her a little bit.

Adam was amazing,

Thanks MJ for the pics

• tls62

My personal opinion on Adam’s make-up is that it always looks better when he does it himself. I’ve always felt he’s better at it than the make-up artists. Some of his pre-Idol pictures are amazing….especially his eyes. He’s got the best smokey eye technique, hands down.

Obviously this awards show was crap on the exterior, but to me, the most important part was that Adam was able to rub elbows with the biggest names in Hollywood for an evening. The fact that he’s such an intelligent conversationalist and is so charming to everyone he comes in contact with is a definate win for the evening and well worth his time. These tiny building blocks can lead to huge stepping stones in the future.

• Truthiness

Yep I bet Sandra and Meryl had it all planned. It was all about Adam. *rollseyes* These are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Do we honestly believe that they gave one thought to Adam?

Yeah, not getting it, NY Daily craziness aside. It’s not always about Adam. Shocking, but true.

Still, it was nice to see him and again, considering Sarah Silverman, the sketch was relatively painless. And I gather it was a tough crowd and their bits did surprisingly well. I do think that Sarah’s “shape shifting,” comment was kind of funny.

Kristin Chenowith made about 10 jokes about her boobs. He has probably heard boob jokes too.

Exactly. Double standard at all??

I don’t think there was a complaint about the penis jokes, per se, nor that it was scaring that ‘poor child!’ just that the editing was weird to make show a child when penis were being made.

• will

I thought the skit was mildly funny at the beginning since the irony of the entertainment biz is that being GLB gives you a competitive edge getting jobs or getting press.

Oh God, please tell me you’re joking.

But talk about horrible singing, why did they let Deathcab for Cutie sing that cover?

There were musical performances? Well now I’m outraged. Why didn’t Adam perform?

• lorismile

I think they were just showing Sandra’s table, not necessarily just the kid, after Adam’s joke.

• bridgette12

I don’t think any of Adam’s fans ever said it was all about Adam. I think what some people are saying, that sometimes Hollywood shows their solidarity and support for one another, by making small gestures. I thought it was a nice that they invited Adam, because there was plenty of idols and non-idol singers they could have invited.

• pug

OK wading into the shallows here but this is my favorite pic from last night. It’s slightly different from the ones above:

http://fr.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ms4wtf&s=6

Watched the live streaming and was pretty meh about the skit, but then watched in on youtube and thought it went better than I first realized as:

1. It got laughter which was a rarity
2. Sarah and Adam seemed to have a good rapport with each other
3. They were relaxed and enjoying it and so the audience could too

I thought Adam looked stunning last night!

• will

3/ She introduced him as American’ favorite sweetheart

Actually she calls the two of them “America’s favorite new sweethearts.”

• Tara

I find myself in the shallow end once again. Gorgeous. Love the hair. Love the clothes. He handled himself so well. Beautiful.

I wish more friends would let their friends out looking like Adam… What a pretty world it would be!

Can’t wait for Oprah either…. such a good week.

• girlygirl

I felt a little bad for Adam because Sarah Silverman wasn’t funny and the whole segment was very awkward. But he looked good and handled himself well.

The show in general stunk. Bunch of lame jokes and no energy in the room at all.

• tiger92

Those same-sex kisses at awards shows started after the Madonna/Britney kiss. It’s kind of a running joke the past few years. The AMAs is just one more in a string of them.

A string of them? Of same-sex kisses on award’s shows? For the past SEVEN years? lol

Seriously, what other same-sex award’s show kisses have there been?

• starstruck2000

Seriously, what other same-sex award’s show kisses have there been?

I would like to know also

• oceana

Geez people lighten up. I don’t know how many. Seems to me there have been a few. There have been a lot of jokes about it and plays on it since that first one. I didn’t keep track. Why so serious? For god’s sake. Relax. I’m not accusing Adam of anything.

People here are always saying, “when two women kiss it’s not big deal, but when two men kiss, it is.” Well, what other 2 women have kissed, besides Madonna & Britney? Come on, I want to know. Did those comments get questioned too?

It’s my impression/memory that there have been several or a few similar kisses, mostly joking, on awards shows and/or comedy shows. Did I keep notes when I saw them? No. I watch almost all the awards shows, and since the Madonna kiss, I recall seeing two women presenters kiss more than once, as a joke, a play on the original. It’s also been done on talk shows and comedy shows. My point was that I didn’t immediately think that Streep/Bullock were making a statement about Adam. It’s been a running joke ever since the Madonna kiss.

• Adamme

I felt a little bad for Adam because Sarah Silverman wasn’t funny and the whole segment was very awkward. But he looked good and handled himself well.

Don’t be.. I thought it’s funny.. and yes… these Hollywood members at CC knows Adam, otherwise they wouldn’t find it so funny when Adam said, “Sarah, who doesn’t?” with his funny face after that…. and Sandra Bullock’s clapping on the joke. And actually that was the funniest moment of the night. The kiss was showing that Hollywood’s behind Adam & the equal rights.

• will

Here’s the video of the Bullock/Streep kiss, along with an article. No mention of Adam or the AMA’s in this one.

• tiger92

Seems to me there’ve been a few. There have been a lot of jokes about it and plays on it since that first one. I didn’t keep track. Why so serious?

Because YOU said there HAD BEEN A STRING OF THEM since the M/B kiss, which was seven years ago. You stated it as fact and not a joke. So, I wanted to know what award’s show same-sex kisses you were referring to? No one needs to calm down or lighten up. It’s a simple question asked about a post that was originally stated as fact.

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

I don’t think any of Adam’s fans ever said it was all about Adam. I think what some people are saying, that sometimes Hollywood shows their solidarity and support for one another, by making small gestures. ITA- I am pretty sure if Kris had kissed his guitar player and ABC yanked him off a few shows, the presenters at the CC awards would have still made the same jokes. It’s a timely entertainment story. Also, many, many people in Hollywood support equal rights, so using the awards show to make a semi-politcal statement on the podium (like that has NEVER been done! :) ) isn’t all too surprising.

• http://onlinepastrychef.wordpress.com/ onlinepastrychef

Firmly planting myself in the three-foot end of the pool, with fruity alcoholic beverage in hand, I simply state–BB looks wonderful! Love that they entered to WWFM. So happy for him:D

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

So, I wanted to know what award’s show same-sex kisses you were referring to

I don’t keep track of the same sex kisses but I don’t think they are a big deal. But…..I still remember Adrian Brody kissing Halle Berry at the Oscars because I wasn’t sure how she felt about it. It was pretty intense and if she wasn’t in on the joke, it would definetly be a violation of personal space.

• Glamour

I think those jokes kinda fell flat, but Adam looks hot, as usual!

• cwm

Yippee! Another party in the shallow end of the pool! I’m happy to join you. I think Adam looked great and handled himself really well. He has good comedic timing, and his voice is strong and confident. The skit was a bit lame but not bad; I agree that it would have been best to cut it off right before the “watering” line.

Anyway, a good night for him I’m sure.

• oceana

Because YOU said there HAD BEEN A STRING OF THEM since the M/B kiss, which was seven years ago.

It was six years in September actually, I just looked it up, and what bearing has that got on anything? If I’ve seen people play on it 2 or 3 times in those years, then to me it’s a running joke. I’ve seen it on other comedy and talk shows too. It’s a cultural reference just like Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction. Thus when Streep and Bullock kissed, while it might have some relevance to the AMA controversy, in my mind I liken it to that first kiss in 2003 and the jokes since. YMMV.

You’re using capital letters here, and your original post was not friendly either, so that is why I said lighten up. I don’t think everything we post has to be interrogated in an unfriendly way. American Idol is a reality show about music, awards shows are fun, this is all supposed to be fun. If I misled anyone, my apologies, but I can’t remember where or what shows I saw that formed my opinions. I hope that answers your question.

I quoted this because it puts into words everything I thought about the night.

As for Adam’s look (or anyone’s look): what people like is always a matter of PERSONAL taste/preference etc. I, personally, LOVED his look last night, but then again I love most of his looks (but not all). Put 10 people in a room and you’ll get 10 different opinions on what looks good.

That said, the only things that could have made last night better for Adam was that he and his band got to perform instead of that god-awful group that did. Oh, and I do hope he got to meet Paul McCartney; boy would I love to see a vid of that!!!

Great night all around. Adam looked gorgeous!!!

I found this headline but it might be more appropriate here? Maybe I will move it to the headlines thread. By the way, did anyone else think Tobey Maguire looked like hell. Maybe he heard Archie was replacing him as Spider Man? :)

Well one girl/girl kiss I remember was on Idol during the auditions, when Paula and Kara kissed (holding a hand between their mouths). To me it seemed like the Madonna/Britney kiss opened up girl/girl kissing on tv, as a parody if nothing else. I’ve seen it lots of places, at least a couple were on awards shows, I thought, I could be wrong. There are a lot of awards shows. Adam’s kiss on the AMAs is the only male/male kiss I can think of, except for of course on shows like Queer as Folk. Though I don’t think the controversy was mostly about the kiss, it was the other stuff, but that’s been discussed to death.

I like that on awards shows the past few years, male winners have been thanking their “partners” which is a lot more open than previously. A lot of people in the creative arts are gay, and shouldn’t have to hide it and should be able to talk about their signif others. I remember Ian McKellan at a big awards show, sitting with his youthful boyfriend in the audience, things have come a long way, but male on male kissing still makes many people uncomfortable. Then again, female/female kissing makes people uncomfortable too. Even male/female kissing isn’t done much on awards shows. Maybe just a friendly peck, but not deep kissing. People don’t usually want to watch other people making out, lol. Thus the phrase, “get a room.”

Anyway, getting off topic.

• luval

pug…just looked at your pic…..stunning…those eyes get me every time (and the hair and the everything else).

Oh I bet Adam is thrilled that he was mentioned as winning fashion award. HEHE, he loves those dressing styles. Maybe some other men will step up and start looking at how they dress. The women do, or most of them. And I gotta think that when Adam said “ME TOO” on the liking Penis thing and they scanned to Sandra Bullock, clapping that she took that and ran with it, kissing Meryl Streep.

i really have nothing against you, but i think there is no such thing as ’sayed’. No offense

give me a fucking break. it was 3 in the fucking morning and I wasn’t paying that much attention to my writing and I couldn’t edit. Thats real juvenile bullshit, no offense.

• http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

Compared to the other skits that I saw leading up to Adam and Sarah? That was comic genius. So, that’s how awful the rest of the show was. And that crowd? Sheesh. They’re actors. Couldn’t they at least have ACTED like they were having fun? Dull and dreary.

Adam most definitely looked good, though. And glad to see that the video has given WWFM a very nice jump at iTunes. The album as well.

• Maggels

I know on the MTV movie awards show there was same sex kiss. Besides Britney/Madonna, Cruel Intentions also brought on alot of same sex kisses.

• Maggels

Anyway the problem from the AMA’s wasn’t the kiss. It wasn’t even edited out. It was the face in the crotch and the fingering of the girl that outraged people. Now if Meryl & Sandra did that on stage then yes you can say it was homage to Adam’s AMA performance. Byut same sex kisses have been done for years now.

• LaurelG

I thought Adam looked cool and edgy!!! He looked like a ROCK STAR, no ROCK god!!!!

ITA. And he is so photogenic. Amazingly so.

Reports were that he was smiling and enjoying himself the whole night. A lot of movers and shakers at these types of events and Adam is keeping himself out there. I loved that they played his song as an intro. His video is getting major hits, the song is up to #34 on iTunes and the Oprah show is coming up on Tuesday. Lots of good things happening for Adam and he so deserves it.

• gangreen29

I don’t think any of Adam’s fans ever said it was all about Adam.

Actually, people are saying that. Right in this thread. Lol.

I’m not going back to quote whoever said it, but a comparison between Lady Gaga’s fashion and Adam’s is really horrible. Lady Gaga is very inventive and fashion forward. She is very high fashion, and people like John Galliano love her. Adam wears the typical emo high schooler uniform, especially in his look last night. I think when he wears the pompadour style that is pretty creative and fresh actually, a sort of homage to elvis, but the emo greasy look is nothing but straight out of middle school. Of course he can wear that look, it’s his right, and some people love it. Just don’t try to make it out to be creative or daring at all lol.

To qoute Adam “its not that deep”.

seriously did I kill your puppy our something? cause you seem pretty pissed off with me. btw I find it ridiculous that 30+ woman(judging from your post) bashes a 14 year old girl for not liking a fucking hairstyle. As for the poser look and shit, I just don’t like that look on ANYBODY. I don’t think Adam is the only one that looks like a poser with that look. Whenever I see someone sporting that style I just roll my eyes and move on because like I said before “its not that deep” . As for my post being razzie worthy and shit, I always acknowledge that I could be coming across a a dumb fuck and that its JMO.As for me being able to lecture in ridiculousness, your right I can be pretty ridiculous, But if I have to major in that then you should major in “taking things too seriously: its not that fucking deep”

yes I know that was a lame joke and a razzie worthy comment that probably has a lot of spelling/grammar mistakes.

• koshka

Lots of overly excited posts… something fun must have happened last night.. or something good. LOL

Pics look great.. love his styling.

• koshka

Oh I bet Adam is thrilled that he was mentioned as winning fashion award. HEHE, he loves those dressing styles. Maybe some other men will step up and start looking at how they dress.

It seems the well dressed man was replaced with ripped jeans & t-shirts at some point in the last 2 decades. Some dressing up would be a welcome change.

• tiger92

Adam wears the typical emo high schooler uniform, especially in his look last night.

I’m sorry but this has me LMAO!
My teenage daughter goes to a high school that has 3,000 teens in attendance. I’m up there working or in the hallways frequently. In the three years she has been there, I have not seen one single guy that looks remotely like Adam did last night.
In fact, the standard “uniform” is plaid shirts, T-shirts, polos and flip flops. Jeans are usually of the American Eagle style look.
(BTW, my daughter would like to know what high schools have guys that dress and look like Adam. She would like to know if they are within driving distance so she and her friends can attend a few ballgames or hang out around the campus.)

• will

And that crowd? Sheesh. They’re actors. Couldn’t they at least have ACTED like they were having fun? Dull and dreary.

Didn’t they serve liquor there to loosen the audience up, the way they do at the Golden Globes? Come to think of it, I imagine a lot of them were just angry that they have to endure two of these awards shows back to back.

• luval

tiger92

Agree you with you and your daughter. In my city I have never seen anyone remotely dressing like Adam or even with the Emo hairdo. We have a huge mall here with that trendy store Hot Topic I think the name is and even in there all I see is plaid. The girls around town here wear the black nail polish and black hair not the guys. I see a few Beatle do’s on some young guys but not the emo. Just what does emo have to do with emotional anyway? Or is it the other way around? Just dumb. Adam has that thick beautiful mop of hair and probably is a hair stylist’s dream.

And skat-girl@allycatlover (luv that name)…..agree with you too. Too much is made of typos and spelling errors. Most people hit that submit button without re-reading and don’t or can’t edit. So What? I think we all get the point the posters are making. quoting Adam It’s not that deep and/or whatever.

Love you Adam and the journey you are on…Going to Brazil maybe???

One more thing…the audience last night really did look bored to death.

• tiger92

It’s a cultural reference just like Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction.

If you had said this, I wouldn’t have asked for examples. When somone points out that something has happened many times in a 6 year time period,(I looked it up too-it said 2003, but didn’t give the month) it shouldn’t be a shock when others would simply like to know what they are referring to. You stated that there had been many same-sex kisses at award’s shows since the Madonna/Britney kiss. I couldn’t remember any (other than the Adam/Tommy kiss) so I simply wanted to know what many kisses you were referring to.

I’m not saying there hasn’t been ANY. I’m sure there has been at least one same-sex kiss at an award’s show in the past six years. I just figured you must have known of several to make that statement.

• KLI

I’ll just add my two cents: I’m around middle school and HS kids all the time, and I’ve never seen a single person wearing this so-called “middle school poser emo look.” I don’t think our schools are atypical, either, that’s just not a look that exists in the vast majority of schools in Chicago. There truly is no typical emo look around here. It doesn’t even exist in the schools I’ve observed.

Maybe we are just too boring in my area. The boys all go to American Eagle or Abercrombie if they have some money.

Where are these schools where kids dress like Adam? I’m sure there could be some, but I’m honestly curious. Maybe CA?

Just a thought: if someone starts name calling in a post it’s more likely to elicit name calling in response. Just an observation. Peace.

• gangreen29

In fact, the standard “uniform” is plaid shirts, T-shirts, polos and flip flops. Jeans are usually of the American Eagle style look.

Um yeah, thats why I said the typical EMO high school look, not the typical PREPPY high school look. There are no guys in your daughter’s high school who wear eyeliner, cut there hair with floppy bangs, and dye it jet black? Well then that high school is highly atypical lol. It obviously is not the main style that high schoolers dress in, but it is the style that Emo high school students dress in. I am sorry but I just have to laugh at all these middle aged people who think Adam has created some kind of unique style.

• gangreen29

Where are these schools where kids dress like Adam?

every fucking town with a Hot Topic? Are you people being serious?

I thought Kristen Chenaworth (sp?) said something about hoping everyone drinks up before it started. And they did appear to have wine. But, wow. Total deadbeats. At one point, I think Kristen was ready to pull her boobs out of her dress just to get a reaction.

You mean her Kermit the Frog outfit? High fashion indeed. LOL. And John Galliano loves her because she is out there wearing (and thereby promoting) his death-defying platform shoes. Sort of a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” scenario. Hardly an objective fan. Don’t get me wrong, Lady Gaga is pushing the envelope and her choices are always interesting water cooler convo. But it’s a bit of a stretch to declare her some couture fashion maven. The only common denominator for her outfits seems to be “shock value” whereas I think Adam is more about developing a personal style. And, I don’t know what high school you attend, but I certainly haven’t seen anyone wearing Adam’s “emo uniform” at the high schools around my neighborhood either. In fact, I’m not sure a jacket with shoulder spikes would be allowed. lol.

• Keel

BTW, my daughter would like to know what high schools have guys that dress and look like Adam

I went to high school in Seattle — many, many years ago — and I have to agree with skat-girl@allycatlover that Adam’s look isn’t all that unique. Even back when I was in high school the goth/emo guys in school would dye their hair black, wear it in that variation of spiky and asymetric style, paint their nails black, use black eyeliner and wear mostly black. Now the results varied and some carried off the look better than others, but it really is not uncommon (even back in my day (says the old lady, heh). Accordingly, after this many years of seeing one variation or another of this particular look, I would characterize the style as a shorthand for identifying yourself as a hip outsider, but at this point in the style’s lifecycle, I would hardly call it edgy and certainly not unique.

ETA: Also lived in NYC for close to a decade and ran into a ton of kids (and adults) dressed similarly.

• KLI

Where are these schools where kids dress like Adam?

every fucking town with a Hot Topic? Are you people being serious?

Yes, I’m being serious.

What is Hot Topic? I’ve never heard of it. I”m not being argumentative, I’m just stating my experience. Your experience is different, and I’m not denying it, but there’s no reason to deny my experience, which DOES NOT INCLUDE the emo look–AT ALL.

And I do get out in the world. I live in a metro area of about 10 million people.

To me, Adam’s look is fresh. To others maybe not, but to me it is.

I agree, though, I don’t think his look is totally unique or that he’s at the vanguard of fashion. He just looks fresh to me compared to lots of men out there. That’s all.

• luval

Again, I live around a college and a highschool and have never seen anyone dress like Adam. If they did, I would notice. Definitely not.

• gangreen29

But it’s a bit of a stretch to declare her some couture fashion maven.

Anna Wintour loves Lady Gaga. Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, and Derek Lam have all had elements in their collections this year that draw from Lady Gaga’s style. She is a muse of Alexander McQueen. She has more fashion credibility in her pinkie than Adam has in his whole Pete Wentz wannabe self.

Exactly!!!! There is nothing edgy or original about Adam’s look. I am sorry people if your limited anecdotal experiences haven’t led you to see the Emo look that people are unfortunately wearing all over the country. Actually, strike that, consider yourself lucky.

And how many times does one have to say “In My Opinion” without getting slammed.

Thank you! I think it’s pretty clear if you make a generalization on a blog about anything it is very likely that people will point out the exceptions to that generalization.

(But maybe I’m generalizing there!!)

I’m a lawyer. We’re trained to go after the generalization because they are the result of lazy thinking and can always be proven wrong. Always!!

Oh, I don’t think Adam is edgy or original either. Just fresh.

Anecdotal evidence is always limited by the way. By definition it’s limited. Nobody has universal anecdotal experience.

Off to the real world. Have fun everyone.

• lorismile

nevermind….:-)

• tiger92

Um yeah, thats why I said the typical EMO high school look,

Um yeah, like this…..

“Usually among teens, the term “emo” is stereotyped with wearing skinny jeans, sometimes in bright colors, and tight t-shirts (usually short-sleeved) which often bear the names of emo bands. Studded belts and black wristbands are common accessories in emo fashion. Black Converse sneakers and skate shoes, such as Vans, are popularly worn among people of the emo fashion. Some males also wear thick, black horn-rimmed glasses

Emo has been associated with a stereotype that includes being particularly emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angst-ridden.[104][105][106] It has also been associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide”

Yes, I have seen boys with straight jeans, band T-shirts, wristbands and skater shoes. (Vans, etc.) They do have their hair in their face, but it isn’t clean, shiny and styled like Adam’s. They might wear eyeliner out on weekends, but I doubt they do the smokey eye, rhinestones or glitter. They certainly do not use blush.

I’ve never seen “emo” teens with sparkly double breasted vests, boots, metallic nail polish, several chunky rings, pendant necklaces, brooches, or jackets and ties. They don’t wear three piece suits, spikes, feathers or leather either. I’ve never seen them do any Elvis type hairstyle.

• will

Since Adam has never made any claim to originality in his emo style, I’m not sure what this debate is even about. I think it was somewhat unusual for an AI contestant to sport that look, but that’s as far as it goes.

• gangreen29

Seriously, I don’t think anyone is question the spikey hair, black nail polish, black eyeliner, wearing black doesn’t exist. But most of the time they are probably also wearing baggy pants, etc…

Actually, no, people right above you are questioning this. Supposedly every one in high school dresses preppy, and the emo spikey hair and eyeliner is an ADAM INVENTION.

• mr

Ok, what the hell happened here??

What’s all this fuss of Adam’s dressing or not dressing the way middle school boys are dressing or not dressing???

The important thing is whether you like the look or not, isn’t it?
Because if you do, then what does it matter if it’s already a trend with certain kids? So??

Although when I was in high school I also hated almost everyone because they all seemed like “posers”… so it’s too bad if Adam gives you the same vibe…

I just look at it this way: Of course he’s a “poser” in a way- he himself makes no secret of his loving to “dress up” and “get all pretty”. But I find nothing wrong with that! Especially for an entertainer! Like Maddona’s lyrics on Vogue- “strike a pose, there’s nothing to it!”

As long as he’s having fun with it. I’m having fun with it :-)

• gangreen29

Since Adam has never made any claim to originality in his <a href="http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=emo+guys&gbv=2&aq=7&oq=emo&aqi=g10"emo" style

That is hilarious because the person RIGHT ABOVE you is claiming originality in his style!

• Tess

I know didly about what is “fashionable” or current for young men, right now. I’m amazed when I go to the mall at how tight the guy’s jeans are and my daughter had to tell me that guys buy girls jeans (I think Adam said this, too). I’m just thrilled the gangsta look is gone and that guys don’t wear their wistbands down at knee level.

For me it is just nice to see men talking some “care” with their appearance and doing a little extra with themselves before they leave the house. I hate people who think they are “too cool” to dress appropriately for an occasion…and I think it is a shame when “entertainers” come on stage in the same clothes they wear day in day out. I’m fucking old school and ,guy or girl, I like a performer to have a complete package…both audio and visual.

• Mainegal

I am sorry but I just have to laugh at all these middle aged people who think Adam has created some kind of unique style.

by definition a “middle-aged” person has been around long enough to see many, many fashion trends come and go…. and also has the life experience to put these fashion references in context.

(IMO …I doubt very much Adam is thinking of Pete Wentz in the grand scheme of things.)

• skat-girl@allycatlover

What is Hot Topic? I’ve never heard of it.

Its a absolutely terrible store that sells all your basic emo needs that makes kids think there so cool and different “look ma I’m wearing chains and eyeliner! I am so edgy and misunderstood!” the look Adam sported last night is the basic hot topic look(though he uses guyliner better then anybody who shops at hot topic I’ve ever seen)

She has more fashion credibility in her pinkie than Adam has in his whole Pete Wentz wannabe self.

well I think that no popstar this decade can come close to gaga fashion-wise, but I think that Adam is at least does the Pete wentz look better then Pete wentz, I don’t think Adam always looks like a poser, I think he actually looked very creative whit his young hollywood awards outfit and his AMA outfits, I think if he stops trying so hard to be edgy he can actually look pretty edgy.

• http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

I am sorry but I just have to laugh at all these middle aged people who think Adam has created some kind of unique style.

Hey, that’s the job of us middle-agers. To amuse the youngsters with our utter cluelessness about the goings-on in the universe. Just ask our own teenagers. They’ll be glad to tell you.

Personally, I like the way Adam styles himself for various events. I think he looks nice, pays attention to detail, and dresses to suit the occasion.

• dcglam

Adam has that thick beautiful mop of hair and probably is a hair stylist’s dream.

I totally agree with this statement. I prefer when Adam wears his hair pushed away from his face as in his elvis and spikey look. The only issue I had with last night’s emo is that it seemed to cover part of his face at times.
I want to see that gorgeous face!!

• luval

tiger92

amen to you too. IMO

• KLI

Actually, no, people right above you are questioning this. Supposedly every one in high school dresses preppy, and the emo spikey hair and eyeliner is an ADAM INVENTION.

I don’t think the emo look is an ADAM INVENTION. Maybe other people think this, but I sure don’t. It is true, however, that this look does not exist in the schools around here. That being said, I have never doubted that it exists elsewhere. Just not here.

FWIW, none of these fashion looks (emo included) are new to me. Most looks appear recycled to me these days because I’ve seen all the looks come and go. Heck, I remember running around London back in the day when all the kids were sporting mohawks and it was totally edgy and cool. Today? Yawn.

ETA: Who’s laughing at middle agers for thinking Adam has created a new look? Wouldn’t younger people be thinking that Adam has created a new look because they haven’t seen all these trends come and go over time. I’m a middle ager (I guess), and nothing looks original to me any more. LOL.

And now I really am off to real life.

• tiger92

Yes, I have seen boys with straight jeans, band T-shirts, wristbands and skater shoes. (Vans, etc.)

lol I’m quoting myself in this post but I just realized you take away the wristbands and you have Kris. He is Gossip Girl emo though, because he is trying the Chase Crawford hairstyle now.

Speaking of friends helping friend’s fashion choices:
Certain hairstyles are for symmetrical faces. (Chase Crawford, Adam) If your face is longer, it just doesn’t work. Also, friends need to tell friends when skinny jeans do not work! Skinny jeans look good on LONG, LEAN LEGS! (Yum!) :)

• will

Oh gangreen29 why did you have to blockquote my failed html code? I fixed it!

And what I said is that Adam himself never said it was original. I think he’d laugh at the notion.

• lorismile

That is hilarious because the person RIGHT ABOVE you is claiming originality in his style!

gangreen…I was never claiming originality in his style, which is why I edited my post as it wasn’t worded correctly and could be misconstrued.

Adam doesn’t have to be the original fashion trendsetter but he is more “original” than alot of people who were at the awards show last night. There may be many teenagers, etc.. who are wearing it but outside of a few, there aren’t alot celebrities who are doing it on the red carpets. That is what I meant by my statement before about being emo while wearing a suit.

Now, if you want real fashion trendsetters, go look at all the other idol contestants. They are definately setting the fashion world on its head!

• https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

I am sorry but I just have to laugh at all these middle aged people who think Adam has created some kind of unique style

What I like about styles now is that there seems to be an “anything goes” attitude.

I fall in the middle age category (born in the mid 60s) and at various times in my life I had bleached and dyed hair, dreads, and a nose ring. Of course all of this was last century (and I hate that I can say that and for it to be true!). Glam rock, punk rock, new wave, and grunge are all from the last century. What I see young artists doing today is freshening up those looks.

Adam’s is incorporating many styles to make up his personal style. I don’t think anyone is saying he is starting any new trend. It’s like saying Jason Castro is edgy because he has dreads. Not true, but the fact that he wears them and it seems to be a natural look for him, it works. I think people applaud other people for expressing themselves through fashion, even if they aren’t inventing something new.

Also, I don’t think Lady GaGa’s style is that new, but it is fresh in the sense that she goes for it. JMHO

In regards to the typos and spelling…I am the worse. The edit button was my crutch. When it disappeared, I realized how lazy of a proof reader I was because I always have to fix errors after I post.

• Keel

I’ve never seen “emo” teens with sparkly double breasted vests, boots, metallic nail polish, several chunky rings, pendant necklaces, brooches, or jackets and ties. They don’t wear three piece suits, spikes, feathers or leather either.

Well yeah, most teens wouldn’t have enough $$ to buy nor occasion to wear the 3 piece suits — but as for spikes, metallic nail polish, vests, boots, jewelry, feathers and leather — yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes! And you get a ton more of them looking like that at the clubs (i.e., 21 or over or old enough to get away with it with the right IDs).

And trust me, I hardly went to clubs even back in the days when I was young enough to actually want to. Most of this observation is just from walking around and riding in the NYC subways.

• lorismile

On another note, I love Adam’s smile. He has a great smile. Can’t wait to see him use it on Oprah Tuesday!!!

Oh, and I love how he recycles his clothes!!

• Teri63

Seriously, I don’t think anyone is question the spikey hair, black nail polish, black eyeliner, wearing black doesn’t exist. But most of the time they are probably also wearing baggy pants, etc…

I don’t imagine most teens are doing goth/emo with suits, fitted pants, etc.. That is what I think the difference is.

I’ve just been lurking and trying to stay out of this one, but these were my thoughts exactly. I live in the Chicago area and spend tons and tons of time at the high school and never see anyone who dresses like Adam. Sure, there are “goth” and “emo” kids with black hair, black polish, multiple piercings, etc., but they also wear these dark, baggy outfits (I see occasional black trench coats, but rarely) with chains on the sagging pants. I’ve yet to see a single goth or emo high schooler dress as impeccably as Adam does, even on his more casual days (the ones for which we’ve seen pictures, anyway). I think the thing with Adam is that, like his music, his fashion is a blend of influences, which is why it’s so hard to pin down and, I agree, looks fresh.

• gangreen29

Adam doesn’t have to be the original fashion trendsetter but he is more “original” than alot of people who were at the awards show last night.

I will give you that. I think this whole conversation spun a bit out of control. I was just responding to the people claiming that Adam is in the same vein of Lady Gaga as a fashion trend setter, and the people acting like because they personally had never seen a teenager dress in the emo style that it must not be something teenagers wear.

• HermeticallySealed

Also, friends need to tell friends when skinny jeans do not work!

Such as when all their waist fat comes bubbling over the belt like the top of an Otis Spunkmeyer Muffin.

• Maggels

Such as when all their waist fat comes bubbling over the belt like the top of an Otis Spunkmeyer Muffin.

LMAO!!!

I hate it when girls wear their jeans so low you can see their thongs(ass crack) when they bend over. Not classy.

• starstruck2000

Wow…all this bitterness and hype over how Adam dresses.
How about we agree to disagree. We, who love Adam’s taste in clothes, will continue to love him and think that he is the best dressed person on the scene.

• tiger92

Actually, no, people right above you are questioning this. Supposedly every one in high school dresses preppy, and the emo spikey hair and eyeliner is an ADAM INVENTION.

Actually, no. I am wondering what 16 year old emo boy wears boots, double breasted sparkly vest, dress shirt and tie, jacket, chunky rings, metallic fingernail polish, a pendant necklace, blush and has the smokey eye affect? I’ve never seen ^^THIS kid walking around a high school. I don’t believe this is a typical look in the hallways of America.

• koshka

This conversation is vastly amusing. I’ve never met a teenager or college student.. or for that matter an adult with a ‘unique’ look. Teens and college students especially strive to blend in with their peers and be accepted, no matter what they look alike. Your aim with a preppie look or with an emo look is all the same. For every American’s desire to express their “individuality” and appear unique, very few actually do. Its basic human instinct to blend.

• Tess

I hate it when girls wear their jeans so low you can see their thongs(ass crack) when they bend over. Not classy.

Hells bells…this they do intentionally. I’ve watched them at the store figuring out which thong will go with which pair of jeans. Young girls just haven’t figured out that the less they show the more intriguing it is….a sexy bra is much more sensual then topless…just sayin.

• isisdagmar

I just saw the Sandra Bullock/Meryl Streep kiss/speech clip, and yeah–just hearing about it, it seemed like they could plausibly be joking about the idea of a same-sex kiss being considered “scandalous” (given that SS and AL had been sort of joking about that kind of thing earlier), but actually watching it, that doesn’t seem to be the joke at all. So, it sounded plausible, but I don’t think that’s it. :)

fashion-wise: Adam certainly didn’t invent black-dyed hair and eyeliner, lol. (And FWIW, I graduated high school about three years ago, but I’m pretty sure that look existed before then, too :)).

I do think he’s a pretty creative dresser/stylist overall. Not as avant garde as Lady Gaga (and even she has been called derivative), but creative. :)

And skat-girl@allycatlover, I don’t think you need to major in “taking things less seriously” or whatever it was that was suggested, lol. I’m majoring in English, so I personally recommend that or something practical, like Economics. :)

• tiger92

Well yeah, most teens wouldn’t have enough $$ to buy nor occasion to wear the 3 piece suits — but as for spikes, metallic nail polish, vests, boots, jewelry, feathers and leather — yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes! And you get a ton more of them looking like that at the clubs (i.e., 21 or over or old enough to get away with it with the right IDs).

Then this is not your typical 16 year old emo kid walking down the hallways in high school. It’s out of the box kids or club kids who are 21 or close to it who frquent the club scene. That wasn’t what we were talking about.
I NEVER said Adam was a trendsetter or fashion icon. I said I don’t think his look last night looks like “all the emo boys in high school”. (That IS what originally started all this. :) )

• http://www.dallascowboys.com GeminiDolly

That was torture. One of the worst skits evah! Adam looked a bit bloated in the face. Must have drank a shit load of alcohol the night before or something. Who wears more make-up Adam or Christina Aguilera?

• Keel

Then this is not your typical 16 year old emo kid walking down the hallways in high school. It’s out of the box kids or club kids who are 21 or close to it who frquent the club scene. That wasn’t what we were talking about.

tiger92, I’ve never said that these kids were the typical kids; I just said they were not uncommon in my high school — all those many, many years ago. They were certainly plentiful enough that they were their own separate clique within my high school and what they wore was a type of uniform for that particular clique. And yes, there were a lot more kids wearing this type of style at the 21+ clubs — but that doesn’t mean that this was still not a recognizable ‘type’ within my high school hallways. As for what’s common now, I’ll leave that up to the peeps who are currently in high school to comment on.

But yeah, feathers and sparkly vest and nail polish? Yup, meet my AP Biology lab mate!

• kino

As far as same sex kisses – it’s all started with Russian duo Tatu in 1999. They were on 2003 VMA awards. Britney and Madonna (and everybody else after that) just copying them…

• Q3

Exactly!!!! There is nothing edgy or original about Adam’s look. I am sorry people if your limited anecdotal experiences haven’t led you to see the Emo look that people are unfortunately wearing all over the country. Actually, strike that, consider yourself lucky.

I agree that Adam’s style is not edgy or original — but he is current and has an identifiable style. It is nice to see a pop/rock singer embrace this fusion of tailored and dressed down, the neat and firm V silhouette, mono-chrome layering, and so on — similar to what was in the men’s collections in the Paris Spring-Summer 2010 shows — and integrate a few emo elements most of the time.

I also respect Adam for continuing to wear off-the-rack affordable clothing — and to reuse his own clothing in fresh and new ways. I am certain that some of the other celebrities at the CCA’s dressed from their own closets, but most of the “best dressed” were dressed for the event by designers. Adam [I am certain working with his stylist] wore some items that he has worn before — just like he did in the WWFM music video, and at other events in the past.

While I respect Lady Gaga and her support of fashion artists — BUT Regarding Alexander McQueen having Lady Gaga as a muse — if that is the excuse for his latest collection [really a disconnected mess], he needs a new muse.

ETA: I also think Adam looked great at the CCA’s.

Lol! I remember them. Funny, I was wondering what happened to them. I recall the mv, two school girls in short skirts longing for each other through the chain link fence. (complete male fantasy) They sort of disappeared from my radar after 2003 awards show.

• BestAI

Unbelievable the big names at the party that Adam was also at last night. Some actually had to wait in the hall (while Adam was inside already partying). Adam went from the CCA party to pre-Golden Globe party.

• http://www.photographybytracyt.com adam_lambert_rocks

I’ve read some of the replies here and I’m really surprised. I actually thought the skit was hilarious and it had me cracking up. Adam looked gorgeous as always & I agree with the above statement from cakeygirl-

“anyone that is criticizing adams look needs to look in the mirror, he is most likely a hell of a lot hotter than you! lol”

I agree.

• gangreen29

Aww, are you talking about his Spring 2010? I liked it, I loved the shapes and prints, a bit derivative of Balenciaga from a few years ago, but still really interesting. Also, to not be too off topic lol I did think Adam’s suit was sharply tailored.

• GaryJ

Funny, I was wondering what happened to them.

The Tatu girls were a big hit in Russia and Europe ten years ago. They kissed and pretended to be lesbians, but it was just a fantasy and they weren’t. One of them is married and has at least one child.

Yeah to Adam!!!! It’s called networking baby! Oprah is right. What a difference a year makes!

• listen

The skit was not very good, but Adam did great with the material given him. He delivered his lines clearly and his voice was not monotone and lent interest to the skit (if that was possible), with the few lines he had.

And add my vote to the “Adam looked stunning” last night.
Although I am not a huge fan of the hair in his eyes look. He has such a gorgeous face ’tis a shame to cover half of it up with all that hair.

Slightly OT, but VH1 has already made WWFM eligible to be voted on for the Top 20! So anyone who wants to see it debut on the countdown next Saturday, start voting!

• OhMyRawrrr

Thanks BestAI. Checked out some of the pics. Man, does Tom Cruise look emo dressed in black with some hair hanging in his face :D

ETA: I haven’t read this whole thread – I just kept seeing emo, emo, emo and black written everywhere!

Hmmm, Adam should be happy – Chace Crawford was there.

Didn’t Carrie Underwood used to date Chace Crawford?

Now, if you want real fashion trendsetters, go look at all the other idol contestants. They are definately setting the fashion world on its head!

Nah. They’re too busy making music.

And that is what I love about Adam, he can multi-task !!

Nah. They’re too busy making music

Maybe they are too busy watching the Sex and the City episodes! LOL
People find time to do the things they want to do.

There is a way to do both. Carrie dresses nicely and usually shows up looking downright stunning for award’s shows. Artists can find the time to make music and care about their appearance.

gangreen29. You said “Lady GaGa is high fashion” so I wonder with the high fashion like this , why Lady Obama and Oprah didn’t and never wear it ( if you’ve seen them wear it , show me , enjoy it). B/c I think they’re all rich and famous globally have the highest : education , knowledge , respect from people. Look at First Lady Obama and Oprah , I think IMO , fashion (not high or low) just alot of types. That’s when you wear it , fits where you’re going and which people you meet , the important thing is that you feel comfortable and connect with people and places and make them feel comfortable as well. That’s what’s called ‘knowledgeable fashion.’With Lady GaGa’s fashion , it just fits for the stage , entertainment. ( That’s why she had alot of designers with her). Not suited for outside life. I know she had a sophisticated taste in fashion but everything she wears is not 100% perfect (Wearing undergarments in a concert is not sophisticated fasion!). BTW , if you watch the MVA ’09 (Where Kanye West upstaged Taylor Swift) , Lady GaGa wears high fashion , like you said. It make her unable to talk ( or breathe ) , that’s dangerous! So she had to take off her mask. I laughed to tears! Another thing , she can’t kiss too … don’t you remember? She’s a great artist , but her music and style is a little scary. Not fit for family and kids. But she’s famous now , who knew?

• bridgette12

I have never seen another Idol that has garnered this much discussion about his clothing, hair and makeup. There is never a consensus about anything on Adam, it’s always a wide-range of opinions from love it, to hate it. I guess we all will be back here Tuesday to discuss Adam’s appearance on Oprah, no doubt bringing a variance of opinions. I have to say, I am looking forward to see what he wears when he goes overseas, how him and his style will be received. I hope all of our fellow Adam’s fans will keep us up-to-date on his appearances.

I don’t understand a single point you are trying to make. Because Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga don’t dress alike she is not high fashion?!? What?!?….?!?

• Tara

Hah! As soon as I saw that Chace Crawford was there I thought, I wonder if Adam got his eye contact. He is very handsome, has gorgeous eyes. Chace and Adam, lol.

• Mitla96

I think Adam just looked yummy, and it was fun to see how thrilled Sarah Silverman was to be presenting with him (from her comments on the red carpet). His timing with the material that I’m sure was presented to them was right on the target. Overall a win for him!

• Planet Fierce

In the pics of the NY Times GG Pre-Party, I saw that Chase Crawford was at the party. Hmmmmmmm wonder if he and Adam were able to connect. Didn’t Adam say he “just wanted to able to look at him” or something like that….please correct me (and I know someone will).

Anyway, I thought Adam was absolute perfection last night. He looked gorgeous. He is never gonna have the same look all the time..NEVER. That is so not him. His timing was unbelievable and that made the whole skit, not to mention that he was totally believable. You really thought he was unaware if you will, but that is was good acting is about….well done Adam BB. Here comes that offer for a guest appearance on one of your favorite guilty pleasures.

• zuper

I don’t have time to go back today and read all of the older comments, but based on a few posts over the past couple of pages apparently there were some people not happy with the way Adam looked.

WHAT??? People! Please adjust your televisions and computer monitors. Holy Hotness!! This may be the best I’ve ever seen him look. Yikes. I feel like a teenager needing to hang a poster in my bedroom.

• uche

I have to admit that I nearly spit out my drink when I heard Sarah and Adam’s little skit. LOL all over. Loved Sandra’s reaction.

Woah! Didn’t know Adam also went to the pre-Golden Globes party! Brother knows how to network!!!

I love how Adam can get people talking over ANYTHING. I also love how he was considered one of the best dressed there, when that vest, the shirt, the shoes, and the suit top were all from the AMAs!!!! Gotta love him for that. Adam isn’t trying to dress edgy, he’s just wearing what he feels comfortable and confident in. He isn’t the typical “suit and tie” type of guy and I love that. Makes me anticipate what he will wear next :)

Thanks for this~

It was great banter between two presenters and also an FU to all the ridiculousness (is that a word?? ) that Adam has had to endure. If Adam isn’t about art and music, I don’t know who the heck is…

I agree with that completely.

Otherwise, so much negativity around here that I don’t have the energy to respond to. No wonder individuals on other sites complain about the people “over at MJ’s”. Drives me nuts sometimes…

• adamlover

ADAM is gorgeous, and so well spoken. i adore him!!!

• JenOhio

Adam looks gorgeous. Of course, I always think that! Love the hair (any style), clothes and music! Win!

• MaggieDMD

His attire was appropriate and his style was current. He looked gorgeous. He delivered his lines with ease and presence, never losing his drop-dead smile. All in front of many of the biggest names in the Business. Hmmmm. Whaddya think? Some wheels grinding in some heads last night?

• luval

Ha ha – has there ever been an American Idol contestant that people went over 250 comments discussing their hair, make-up and clothes before??? I love you Adam – I love your clothing choices, your make-up and all the fabulous ways you wear your hair – oh, and most of all I love to listen to you sing!

LOL. Yeah, what a poser! Oh course, he still doesn’t look like a high schooler. Now, if he was wearing UGG boots, then, yes, he’d look like every high school kid in my town (the girls, that is). :)

• Adoring Adam

Adam was the best dressed of anyone at the CC Awards last night, and boy, does he have stage presence. He was the highlight of a rather boring show. I do think Sandra Bullock kissing Meryl Streep was a homage to Adam. Love Sandra even more now. I wish he was going to be on the GG tomorrow night. Any surprise guests lined up?

• iluvai

Who wears more make-up Adam or Christina Aguilera?

I don’t know, but I’m certainly not losing sleep over it.

• iluvai

I am sorry but I just have to laugh at all these middle aged people who think Adam has created some kind of unique style.

I have to laugh too because there are EMO kids all over the place where I live. I even posted a long time ago that there was a kid in the youth group choir that had jet black emo hair and he reminded me of Adam. But none of them have the fashion sense or style that Adam has. I think that’s the point a lot of people were trying to make.

• Adamme

LOL. If Adam could not have Kris, Chace would be my 2nd choice for Adam. .

Someone actually comparing Chase Crowford with Kris… seriously??? ROTFLMAO..

• jpfan

Kris is pretty cute. Not as handsome as Chace Crawford but not so ugly that a comparison would warrent a fit of laughter. At least in my world. :)

Very lame awards show though. Did they water all the drinks?

• riaspark17

Funny how that can be said for Adam fans too!!!!! Look at some of Kris’s articles.

I don’t know, I don’t waste my time reading Kris articles…what do they say?

• jpfan

Not manly? Okay.

• Mitla96

^^^I like Kris and all but for me he not hot and sexy. He is midget short
and has curvy hips and a chipmunk face. He looks like a 15yr old boy not manly at all.

I usually like what Adam wears but this latest totally white outfit isn’t one of my favourites .. it seems a bit too “White” with the gloves .. and the neckline of the shirt with the pendant on top reminds me too much of a Vicar (UK term for church leader) or some kind of preacher … a very pretty one though

You know, it’s only us here that catch everything Adam does – and to some it seems like overkill, and all about “celebrity” rather than the music because we have all these ai alum under a microscope…..
but to joe everyday schmoe, he’s hearing about Adam here and there, every once in awhile, the name is starting to register, he’s slowly but surely entering the public consciousness. Didn’t he say in the Fuse interview something to the effect that he wanted to keep his name out there? For better or for worse, he’s doing it on his terms, and not unlike the way other performers do it. Not every artist/musician does it that way, some do it more organically, but I don’t think there’s a perfect right or wrong way.
So in the meantime, I’m enjoying all of these appearances. :)

I agree OhMyRawrrr what’s even better about tonight is it’s a benefit gala to benefit kids. Can never go wrong attending one of those.

• Truthiness

Yes, that’s Adam’s Feeling Good Dolce and Gabbana suit and the affair is a black and white one, so I think it’s kind of cool he went for the all white given that would be more unusual and he’s more into the black/all black.

Plus he gets more wear out of what probably wasn’t a cheap suit. Though I will say that unfortunately silk can be a harsh mistress of a fabric sometimes. I mean it feels great and I adore the texture of it. But depending on how processed it it, it can get very wrinkled very easily. Plus he needs to take the jacket in now that he’s lost weight. But overall I like the look. I mean it’s supposed to be a HEAVEN afffair, so looking all angelic in white with even the OTT white gloves, is kind of fun and fitting.

I like his hair, his make-up? eh, but it’s been better, it’s been worse.

So that’s who Katy Perry is marrying? He looks really angry in those pics. Hmmm….not somebody I would have pictured her with I guess. Like everybody else, he seems to feel the need to “touch” Adam. :)

Oh, I really like Russell Brand. He was hilarious in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and I really liked it when he hosted the MTV Music Video Awards.

His pants, I saw a full on picture which showed some wrinkles. The kind of wrinkles you get after you sit down, as I know from personal experience. I know, I’ve worn silk pants of a silk that was fairly raw, probably as raw as that suit, labels aside, looks. I love raw silk. I have some antique raw silk kimonos I used to wear as spring coats when I was in high school.

• tls62

I’ll have to brush up on him undercooked…he isn’t ringing any bells with me for some reason. My first thought when seeing the picture was he just didn’t seem like somebody I would have pictured her with. I’ll look him up.

Truthiness…..so true on the silk.

• bridgette12

Is it possible to have a “white suit fetish”. I love that picture, he looks so crisp and clean. He certainly knows how to wear a suit well.

He is absolutely gorgeous in that second pic with Kirsten Dunst! I think he looks prettier than she does, lol!!!
Oh I do hope he gets to do something to catch David Bowie’s attention! He’s like, the last standing fortress who Adam hasn’t managed to meet yet- and I am a huge Bowie fan- I think he’s a genius- and I’d be thrilled if they got to chatting/consulting/collaborating/damnit even just taking a picture together!!!

• AlliB

Thanks for the pics Kanadie! I love Russell Brand. The radio show he had in Britain was my favoriet. Have a gazillion episodes on my iPod.

Wearing that suit and all that ?! He doesn’t need to do anything but stand there, he is probably glowing in the dark!

JK, I hope Adam gets to talk to Bovie if he is there, and he looks awesome, I just wish he broke the white with something, maybe a dark shirt, and no gloves in my humble opinion. :)

LMAO!!!
It seems Adam gets teased a lot by straight dudes these days… hope he’s not too frustrated, heehee :-)

Then again- it would serve him right for driving us gals nuts with his own teasing!!!

• lorismile

The girl in the red is actress Amber Heard.

Someone actually comparing Chase Crowford with Kris… seriously??? ROTFLMAO..

Can I join you? Chace and Kris are not even on the same chart as far as sexy goes. Chace is one hot, beautiful man. He is 6 feet tall with a well-proportioned body. (Girly hips aren’t attractive on guys.) Chace also has a perfectly symmetrical face. That’s why he looks so good with different hairstyles. Oh yeah, what a gorgeous head of hair he has! Hot, Hot, Hot!

I like Kris and all but for me he not hot and sexy. He is midget short
and has curvy hips and a chipmunk face. He looks like a 15yr old boy not manly at all.

LMAO even more! Chipmunk? hmmmm
I always think of monkeys.

• mr

Listen up folks- I don’t find Kris attractive either (I kinda like being lifted&flipped myself, lol ;-) ), but I think the original poster’s point was that Adam found Kris to be attractive, and since he couldn’t have him, maybe he could have Chace (who I haven’t the slightest idea who he even is, but I take it you guys find him hot so maybe I’ll go check him out… :-) )

MJ, you have the best blog!! I love all you of you here. Such interesting reading. My eyes are so tired. I have read all 300+ comments since last night. Can’t imagine how many the Oprah show will generate. I’d better get some extra sleep before Tuesday. lol

KLI, thank you so much for the Oprah tweeting. Your tweets were so great. Agathe.hb helped me join twitter. I practiced tweeting on her. heh heh :(
Keep up the banter, guys, it’s always a lot of fun here. I spend every spare minute on this blog when I can.

I went to an all girls Catholic high school, so there sure was no one that remotely looked like BB there. He looked fantastic at the CC Awards and in his white suit too. Jealous of his makeup. Nice colors. Pretty…I say…pretty……:)

• cher

“Red Carpet video…photogs going nuts saying Adam..Crazy!”

It’s amazing that such a newbie to the Hollywood scene gets so much attention from the paps. He no longer has much privacy, but sometimes you get more than you bargained for. Goes with the territory of celebrity, I guess. Thanks to fans/haters, he’s always featured in something. I personally would hate to be in the spotlight, but then again, I can’t sing nor act (pretty talentless haha) so it’s a moot point for me.

• jpfan

I assume BB means Adam in some fan girl code. Does it mean Baby, Big Boy, Bronx Bomber, Big Bitch. I’m sure it’s something like that.

That white suit isn’t working for me. Too much Liberace or the Ice Cream Man.

I think it’s “baby”, but “big bitch” could def. work! Don’t think he would mind either…

BB is for baby and HBIC is for Head Bitch In Charge

mr…the guy in the black suit next to Adam on the red carpet is his friend Markus. He’s the one who sent the original tweet about Adam being there. No, they are not a couple (just in case someone else asks that).

Perhaps because they don’t think it looks terrible AND because he’s a grown man and gets to wear his hair however he likes.

Funny, though, I LOVE this particular haircut and flat style and think it’s a zillion times cooler and more flattering than the other poofy emo styles.

I don’t tell my friends that I don’t like something they wear. Actually I could care less what any of them do with their hair or clothes so it’s a moot point but if I were that “type” I would stfu anyway. Perhaps he and his friends have the same relationship.

side parting? He always has a side part don’t most guys with that length hair? And he’s had asymmetrical hair since day one with fringe so now it’s a year.

Isn’t that the truth. Once my mother was driving my son and his friend home from kindergarten and they were being loud. My mother said “you guys have big mouths” and the friend said “that’s to go with our big penises.” LMAO my mother almost drove off the road and was hysterical. The kid had two older brothers and in a house of boys it’s not some contraband word. My mother laughed about that until my son was 20 (along with other funny stuff like it) when she died and she always said he kept her young. Basically she had no sense of humor at all except for him lol.

• sleepinggiant

OK wait…I just found that clip on the show’s site, they have Adam’s presentation on the list of the four “best moments”. I thought it was funny and even though I don’t know who she is, I thought she was a HOOT and a good comedian. Adam too, of course. Perfect. And the KID was laughing hysterically on the clip when they panned to him. I mean the joke was “I like penis” and Adam says “who doesnt?” so the kid was thinking yeah I like mine alright I’m sure of that. lol. Also how about the KISS of Sandra and Meryl AND Sandra Bullock opened up by yelling “bullshit”. I went there to see if the show was rated tv 14 but it’s sort of irrelevent imo. It’s vh1 no rules apply. I’m sure the kids’ mom knows that.

• sleepinggiant

here’s a link with a photo display of the younger guys at the event side by side including Adam ..I the author calls them “hollywoods leading men”…I don’t understand where people think his clothes are “ill fitting” or any other negative description. The other guys look like THEY had trouble finding a good tailor imo (and a stylist with any style)
