Adam Lambert Gets a Big Boost from Oprah

According to Brian Mansfield at Idol Chatter, Adam Lambert’s current single and album showed 60% increases this week over last. (for more, read HERE)

Why the big increase? It’s Oprah, of course. Oprah Winfrey devoted 3/4’s of her talk show on Tuesday to Adam. She interviewed him and he performed his single, “Whataya Want From Me”. Here’s how the numbers shook out:

Whataya Want From Me downloads jumped 59 percent, going from 37, 000 to 59, 000 (cumulative total: 266, 000).

For Your Entertainment replaced Carrie Underwood’s Play On as last week’s top-selling American Idol album, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Weekly sales of For Your Entertainment rose more than 7, 000 units (60 percent), from 12, 000 to close to 20, 000, giving him a release-to-date total approaching 477, 000. For Your Entertainment climbed from No. 35 to No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Percentage-wise digital sales of For Your Entertainment did even better, rising 83 percent, from not quite 2, 000 to well over 3, 000.

No wonder a spot on Oprah’s show is coveted by many artists, no matter the genre. (Lady Gaga appeared recently).

Susan Boyle, who appeared in the first segment of Adam’s episode, saw a 9K increase in her sales.
