X Factor 1 Auditions – The Premiere! Recap and Videos

My verdict after the first episode of the X Factor? I’m underwhelmed. Simon Cowell’s new show is a lot like his summer show, America’s Got Talent, if you stripped out all the variety acts. X Factor is light on good singing and heavy on the drama. It’s a reality show first and foremost. Simon is on the search for pop stars he can mold and develop. Auto-tune makes good singing unnecessary. As an example, two acts from the last series of X Factor UK, Cher Lloyd and the boyband One Direction are doing well on the UK charts, but were dreadful singers on the show. Cher could barely sing in tune, and One Direction rarely attempted to sing harmonies, and exhibited weak vocals.

Lauren Alaina has accepted Josh and Zack Carter’s prom proposal! The teen twin country singers, otherwise known as Kingston, asked her to her prom yesterday after Hunter Hayes shot her down. Lauren tweeted, “it’s a deal(; I can wear a multi-colored dress. So one of you can wear one color and the other can wear another! That work?…I feel like we should meet first! Scotty McCreery was undeniably an old school country boy on AI, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t questions about the kind of music he would release after the show. Traditional country isn’t exactly pervasive at country radio these days, nor is there an established market in country music for male teenagers. How many songs are out there that fit a traditional country-leaning 17 year old guy and how would Scotty bear up in a marketplace that has recently seen a surge from 30-something males like Blake Shelton, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, and Jake Owen and the 26 year old Chris Young?

Glee Season 3: “The Purple Piano Project” – Videos and Recap

Who is watching Glee tonight? Tonight’s premiere, “The Purple Piano Project” received rave reviews when it was screened for critics last week. The reviews and spoilers have me cautiously optimist about the new season. I expect to at least like this first episode, but the question is whether Ryan Murphy and company can keep the moment going through the season.
