One Direction fans’ safety moves Radio 1 chart show
BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show had to be broadcast from an alternative location yesterday following concerns about overcrowding.

Hundreds of fans gathered to see boy band One Direction who were guests.

A statement from Radio 1 said: “Radio 1 and the police felt it was safer for the young listeners as well as the band if the interview was moved to a secret location.”

The band apologised to those fans who had waited.

Cher Lloyd was putting on a brave face today after receiving an apparent death threat on Twitter.

The 18-year-old was subjected to the abuse after posting a message that wished her mother a happy birthday.

She wrote: ‘Its mamma lloyds birthday!! Love you mum! Xxxx.’

However moments later the singer received a chilling message back from one of her followers.

It said: ‘shut the f*** up before I kill your mum in front of you.’

She is making her first foray into fashion and last night Cheryl Cole made sure she generated a buzz at the launch party.

The Girls Aloud singer stepped out with huge hair in a larger-than-life beehive style to celebrate her collaboration with online fashion site Stylistpick.

Teaming the massive hair style which she held back with a gold headband, Cheryl donned a scarlet satin dress with rouched and draping detail as well as cut-out panels, showing off her slim figure.

He fuelled speculation that he had split from his fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy after giving a rather vague and bizarre answer during an interview with Howard Stern.

But Simon Cowell’s friend Max Clifford has denied that the X Factor boss has split from the makeup artist and said the pair are ‘as close as ever’.

Speaking on This Morning the publicist denied reports Cowell had a new girlfriend and said: ‘I spoke to Simon yesterday, he’s in LA launching X Factor over there and he said, “Who is the mystery girl as I haven’t met her and I don’t know her”.’

Lily Cooper was today the latest celebrity to attack X Factor for allowing an audition with an ‘ill’ woman to be broadcast on television.

The pregnant singer, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Sam, defended vulnerable contestant Ceri Rees, saying the show exploited her.

Last Sunday, viewers watched on as Rees was subjected to her fourth rejection from the panellists – having made several attempts to reach bootcamp over the last six years in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

BRIT-winning singer-songwriter James Morrison has ripped into JLS claiming they can’t sing.

The 27-year-old hates The X Factor and gave JLS as an example of the show’s bad influence.

James told me: “That show sends out the message that you can be famous for doing f*** all and that you can succeed even if you’re not a good singer.

“JLS are the worst singers I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard their raw vocals in the studio and they just cannot sing, yet they’ve had multi-million selling albums.

“That’s a weird message to give kids. People need to keep believing in real music, yet these X Factor idiots are on the radio and that’s a downward spiral.”

One Direction vs Westlife
SIMON Cowell’s golden boys One Direction will face off against his old protegés Westlife in November – after their albums are released on the same day.

It signifies a real changing of the guard when it comes to boybands. Da Loif put out their Greatest Hits on November 21 at the same time as the X Factor lads release their debut.

Westlife look almost certain to be trounced in the charts by One Direction – whose single What Makes You Beautiful became the fastest selling song of the year on Sunday when it hit No1.

Back in March Da Loif left Simon’s Syco label after nearly a decade and were transferred to another Sony department, RCA.

Will Young found fame as the 2002 winner of “Pop Idol, ” the pioneering Simon Fuller-created British TV singing contest that preceded “American Idol.” A decade later, his career is still burning brightly. “Echoes, ” the London-based singer’s fifth studio set, debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. albums chart.

The dance-flavored album, produced by Richard X (M.I.A., Kelis, Goldfrapp), scored first-week sales of 66, 000, according to the Official Chart Co. (OCC). Having previously claimed chart success with a succession of downtempo pop ballads, Young says making a record utilizing electronic rhythms and beats is the culmination of a long-held dream.

Michael McIntyre quits ‘Britain’s Got Talent’
Michael McIntyre has left Britain’s Got Talent.

The comedian served as a judge on this year’s run of the ITV competition opposite Amanda Holden, David Hasselhoff and – for the live shows – Simon Cowell.

ITV has now confirmed that McIntyre will not return for a second series. He is believed to have quit in order to focus on a UK stand-up tour.

“We wish him all the best and look forward to working with him again, ” an ITV spokesman said.
