Zayn Malik is moving to another Sony label.
The Sun’s Dan Wootton just served us another One Direction exclusive. Simon Cowell’s record label SYCO dropped ex One Direction member Zayn Malik, so they can focus on One Direction only. Syco had first dibs to sign Zayn as a solo artist and release his music. He will now be moved to another label in the Sony family. Considering that Zayn recently ditched Naughty Boy, perhaps they figured the guy is too difficult for them to handle and will leave him to one of the bigger Sony labels in the Sony UK family. Also, Zayn left Modest Management and changed lawyers.
Cowell ditches Malik from Syco label
IN March this year ZAYN MALIK ditched his ONE DIRECTION bandmates.
Now SIMON COWELL is returning the favour — by dropping the heart-throb from his Syco label just as Zayn’s solo career kicks off.
The move is a huge surprise because the X Factor mogul had first dibs to sign Zayn and release his first album without his bandmates, below.
But I’m told Cowell made the decision out of loyalty to the remaining members of 1D – dad-to-be LOUIS TOMLINSON, HARRY STYLES, LIAM PAYNE and NIALL HORAN.
My music source revealed: “It’s a big move for Simon because Zayn could have a very successful solo career but his priority absolutely remains the band and this is a big statement on his part.”
Last night insiders at the company confirmed that Zayn will move to another label within the Sony empire for his first release in his own right.
A Syco source told me: “Simon has set up a deal that suits Zayn and One Direction.
“Zayn will stay in the Sony family under a different label and it’s totally with Simon Cowell’s blessing.
“It was just felt to be a bit difficult to have 1D and Zayn on the same label — and everyone felt it was better for him to be somewhere different.
“Since leaving the band, Zayn has changed management and lawyers so it would kind of make sense for him to work with a new label team.
