X Factor UK Winner, Matt Cardle, Enters Rehab (Report)

MATT CRADLE AND KATIE WAISSEL

Matt Cardle, who won the seventh series X Factor UK in 2012, checked into rehab for an addiction to prescription drugs, according to a report from the British tabloid, The Sun.

The singer checked into The Priory last night (Dec. 29) to treat an addiction to temazepam and Valium.

According to the Huffington Post:

A source reportedly told the paper that Matt had been struggling to cope with the stress of making his last two albums independently, after leaving his record label last year.

They added that the singer had allegedly decided to clean up his act on a 28-day programme before the beginning of his UK tour next April.

Matt won the competition in 2010, ahead of 3rd place finishers, One Direction. But while Simon’s boys went on to rule the charts worldwide, Matt dropped an album that went nowhere. He was eventually dropped from his record contract.

Earlier this year, Matt engaged in a twitter war with last season’s winner, James Arthur.
