Paige Richardson is eliminated on the X Factor

UPDATE: Each of the Top 7 will sing TWO songs next week, according to Brian Friedman on Xtra Factor.

Poor Paije! When he and Cher Lloyd were standing on stage as the bottom 2, he had to know he was a goner. Ironically, Paije delivered the best performance on a generally weak night of performances. He was certainly better than Cher, who sleepwalked through her performance of “Imagine” yesterday. And his sing out was fabulous. But no matter, Cher is one of the chosen. She could have taken a big steaming dump on the stage, and the judges would have still saved her.

So, when are these double eliminations going to start again? I guess tonight was out of the question. I’m thinking now the final will be a battle between 4 contestants instead of two.

Olly Murs, runner-up from last season, performs his new single! All 16 contestants perform their new charity single, “Heroes” by David Bowie.

Dermot introduces the JUDGES. Louis liked One Direction and Rebeccal. Dannii liked Matt Paige and Cher. Cheryl liked EVERYBODY. Simon liked One Direction, Matt, Rebecca and Katie.

It just hit me. Mary Byrne reminds me of Ethel Merman. Not really a good thing.

Olly Murs takes the stage to sing his new single, “Thinking About Me”. I would not have imagined the two-tone deal Simon is working with Olly. Not really feeling this song. Olly says One Direction will win, because he has no choice but to back Simon’s boys.

Voting closes in 5 minutes!

The Top 16 perform the charity single, “Heroes” by David Bowie. All proceeds go to the Help for Heroes charity. First we see a short clip of how HFH helped one British soldier. Actually, that was solid. Good job, X Factor.

Cher Lloyd and Paije Richardson will sing for their lives. Poor Paije has got to know he’s already gone. Hopefully he’ll look at the opportunity as a way to go out with a bang.

Oh. And NO WAY will there be a surprise double elim with that bottom 2. Count on that.

Paije Richardson sings “Stop!” Poor dude is singing his ASS OFF. Doesn’t matter though. He’s a dead man walking. Good for him giving his all anyway.

Cher Lloyd sings “Stay With Me”. Well, of course she’s singing a song that earned her a ton of praise only a few weeks ago. She’s crying. She’s so not going home. She’s one of the chosen ones.

Simon Cowell is sending home: Oh geez Simon, spit it out. This is a no brainer for you: Paige Richardson
