X Factor UK Season 9: Judges’ Houses Part 1

TOP 25 perform for the 4 mentors and 4 guest judges. Check out the song list!

Ahhh. We made it this far. Time to visit the homes of Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh. Well, not real homes. Tulisa doesn’t own any properties in St. Lucia or Greece (last year’s location). Gary Barlow also doesn’t own Boughton House in Northamptonshire. And Nicole Scherzinger doesn’t own that luxurious resort in Dubai. Irishman Louis Walsh usually invites his acts to Ireland for this stage of the competition, but not to his real home. This year, Louis and his groups jetted off to Las Vegas, USA.

This year’s guest judges are: Tinie Tempah (Tulisa), Ne-Yo (Nicole Scherzinger), Cheryl Cole (Gary Barlow) and Sharon Osbourne (Louis Walsh). Yes, Queen Cheryl is back, if only for one episode! I expect Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne to be hilarious together. Sharon used to be a judge on X Factor UK. She, Simon and Louis were the original trio. She quit after season 4 because Simon expanded the panel to 4 judges and hired Dannii Minogue in season 4. Does that sound like a familiar scenario?

If you are not familiar with some of the songs, click on the links and listen to the originals. ABBA, Steps?! Before I found this songlist, some showbiz insider commented on Twitter that we can expect another great performance from Ella Henderson. Lucy Spraggan will struggle tonight with Whitney’s signature song. Yikes. Will she make the live shows without one decent performance of someone else’s song?

Groups: Based on the performances and Louis’ and Sharon’s comments, I think GMD3, Union J, MK1 and Times Red are TOP 3 + wildcard candidates.

Boys: Uhh, I don’t like this category. Like, at all. Who is getting through? James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas, Adam Burridge and Rylan Clark. I think Rylan will make the live shows and Adam will be a wildcard.

Girls: Lucy struggled with “I Will Always Love You”. Tulisa will probably still put her through. Ella Henderson is a lock. Jade Ellis and Amy are also contenders, I think.

Overs: Melanie Masson is 100% though to the live shows. Other three contenders: Carolynne Poole, Kye Sones and Christopher Maloney.

Those acts that had interviews mixed with their performances are definitely not getting through.

According to TV Guide, tonight’s show airs at 8:00pm BST (3:00pm EDT, 12:00pm PDT) on ITV1 (110min). The Xtra Factor airs at 9:50pm BST (60min) on ITV2.

Where to watch the show? If you are in the UK or can get UK IP, watch on ITV.com. Possible alternatives: TV Nutters, TVPC.com.

‘I’m so glad I have a car coming’: Cheryl Cole makes her X Factor return to help Gary Barlow in judges’ houses
Nearly two years after she left The X Factor, Cheryl Cole made her return to the show on Saturday night.

But as she helped friend Gary Barlow whittle down six acts to three for his Over 28s, she spoke of her relief she wasn’t returning to the show full-time.

As the Take That was seen mulling over the six acts following their performances in the ‘judges’ houses’ stage of the competition, she joked: ‘I’m so glad I have a car coming soon.’

X Factor 2012: Gary Barlow makes amends with Nicola Marie at judges’ houses after branding her ‘annoying’ at first audition
Its safe to say Gary Barlow wasn’t taken with wannabe singer Nicola Marie at her first audition on The X Factor:

So its no wonder the hopeful wasn’t thrilled when she realised the Take That singer was in charge of her fate at judges’ houses.

After arriving at Boughton House in Northamptonshire, the 35-year-old’s face fell when she discovered he was mentoring the Over 28s.
