Olly Murs will join Gary in NY City and Mary J Blige will join Nicole in Antigua.

What a song choice! What will Olly say? It’s a typical Kingsland performance. A bit weird, but charming. Gary loves their personalities.

Before they start singing, Gary says to Olly this is his favorite group. Good performance. But Gary says this isn’t their best performance. Olly says it seems like they were put together in bootcamp. He misses chemistry. Wow, Olly is tough. Maybe he is auditioning to replace Gary next year?

Plays a keyboard. Her voice isn’t big. The performance was okay. Nicole worries Abi is a one trick pony. Almost a fodder edit?

Dramatic performance. Shouty. Mary says it was a little nervous. Nicole says she has fire in her eyes.
MELANIE MCCABE – Run – Snow Patrol
Poor girl doesn’t want to disappoint her family again.
Good performance. But I can’t help but compare it to Leona Lewis … And Melanie simply isn’t Leona.

She is crying again. Then she rips through the song. Cries some more after the performance. Nicole praises her to high heaven. But apparently she has a vocal condition and Nicole worries she will have problems during the competition.

Nicole: ‘I cried after sending Melanie home’
Hands up if you blubbed over Judges’ Houses this weekend. We certainly did. Oh, how we blubbed! Especially when Nicole delivered the sad news to Melanie McCabe that she wouldn’t be going through to the live shows.
But it seems we weren’t the only one. Nicole shed a fair few tears herself after giving Melanie her verdict – which makes us feel marginally better about being unable to control our emotions.
“I cried after I saw Melanie – I knew this was her fourth time on the show and I knew how badly she wanted it. Honestly, it was so hard to let go of all three of them – Jade, Relley and Melanie – but my Judges’ Houses was something else. Everyone agreed with me, the whole production team. It was the hardest Judges’ Houses in the competition, ever.
“It was Melanie who particularly got to me. They all showed up and knocked it out of the park. It really was like splitting hairs making that decision.”
Having made the brutal choice to let these girls go, Nicole is now focussing on making her three finalists as amazing as they can be – and tells us exclusively why she picked Hannah, Abi and Tamera.
“They are so different and are each so unique in their own way,” she explains. “Hannah has my heart – she is my little soul singer. I think she’s timeless, the talent is real. She’s so raw too – I’m captivated when I watch her.
“Tamera has a lot of potential to be a great R&B pop star. She has the whole package. She needs to put in a little more work but she’s showed a lot of improvement and just shines.
“Then there’s Abi – she is just my wild flower because she’s different from everyone else. She really knows who she is as an artist – I don’t really need to do more work with her. She works on her own.”
So there we have our three Girls – and next week they will begin their fight to stay in the live shows, along with Gary’s Groups, Louis’ Boys and Sharon’s Over 25s.

The results are in, Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow have picked their final threes for the live X Factor shows.
For the Girls, Nicole chose Tamera Foster, Abi Alton and Hannah Barrett while Gary opted for Kingsland Road, Rough Copy and Miss Dynamix.
For the other six artists and acts who didn’t get through, their only consolation was a free trip to Antigua and New York.

Rough Copy’s Kaz made the ultimate sacrifice when he left the band he had formed in the bootcamp stages of The X Factor.
Dealing with unresolved visa issues, the singer took himself out of of the competition when he knew he wouldn’t be able to travel with the band to New York where they would audition once more for Gary Barlow.
But after Sterling and Joey got through as a two, Gary found Kaz and told him that he wanted him back in the group.

Sunday night turned into a ratings hit for ITV, as both The X Factor and Downton Abbey drew impressive audiences.
The final judges’ houses episode of TV talent show The X Factor drew the highest peak audience of the night with a huge 10.1 million viewers, with an average of 8.4m people tuning in between 7.10 and 9pm.
Viewers watched as judges Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow chose their final three acts for the live shows, with Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh picking their hopefuls the night before.
