Song Spoilers for Tonight

Are you ready for the quadruple elimination this weekend? We are going from 10 acts to 6.

Tonight it’s the boys vs the groups. Or Louis vs. Simon. And little Eric says “It’s time to face the music”.

Two out of 5 performing acts are going home! And Matt Terry is tonight’s musical guest.

The judges are already seated.

This weekends’ prizefight prize is a dinner with LOUIS WALSH. WTF. Nope, it’s a flight to LA to meet the songwriter of gazillion smash hits ALI TAMPOSI. She has the TOP 2 singles in the UK right now.

Sam Black – Oops (Little Mix feat. Charlie Puth)
She packed his bags last Sunday before the show, he was convinced he was going home. But he survived for another week.
And this week he is singing a Little Mix song. It wasn’t released as a single, but it was performed on the X Factor last year.
Once again he got a pretty big production with a big round platform and dancers. He sounds pretty bad. I hope he has his bags packed today. Camera work for this number wasn’t great either. Yeah, the show wants him gone. Couldn’t be more obvious.
Simon calls the performance ‘a prong cocktail’. He says everything about this performance was done by other people, including a horrific song choice. Yeah, Simon wants Sam gone tonight! Nicole thinks the song fit his style, but it was all off (the timing, off pitch). Says it was his worst performance. Sharon says he is singing happy little songs week after week, but thinks he isn’t singing with his heart and soul. Wow, all judges are brutal to him. Even Louis can’t muster a defense. He calls this performance his best performance yet. Yeah, right.

Sean & Conor Price – Issues (Julia Michaels)
The boys wonder what love really is. Conor loves food more than anything! They mingle with the other contestants and with Simon and Nicole in dress rehearsal. Simon loves his son the most in the world. No footage of actual rehearsal or preparation.
Conor starts the song and the stage is strangely dark. Sean is is singing tonight, too. The arrangement doesn’t seem too different from the original. It’s not too bad, but I’m not sure this song will make people pick up the phone for them. The boys are mediocre talents and they are not going to get any better.
Louis likes everything about them, because they are real and wants them here next week. Sharon praises the song choice and says they shine tonight. Nicole also praises the song choice, but thinks the boys are better than that performance. She thinks their interpretation was too close to the original version. Simon calls Nicole grumpy and tastes her drink. He says the boys were having fun and says the competition wouldn’t be the same without Sean & Conor.

Dermot promotes X Factor auditions for season 15.

After the commercial break, Dermot interviews the Rak-Su moms.

The Cutkelvins – Saved Me From Myself (The Cutkelvins)
This week, The Cutkelvins are performing an original song for the first time. The VT focuses on their familial connection. Shareen wanted to be a boy as a child. They wrote the song in the X Factor house – just last week. Simon thinks it’s amazing.
The boys start the performance and then Shareen slowly joins in. During the chorus the boys leave their DJ booth and join their sister on stage. The song itself is … well, nothing to write home about. I’m not sure people will love the shouty vocals.
Louis says doing an original was a risk because 2 out 5 acts are going home. Sharon praises the song and like Louis, asks the audience to vote for them. Nicole says that The Cutkelvins have arrived. She says the risk paid off. Simon says doing an original showed him who they are as artists.

We are back from the commercial break and Dermot is chatting to Matt Terry. He likes Nicole’s team and Holly Tandy.

Lloyd Macey – From This Moment On (Shania Twain feat. Bryan White)
Lloyd won the prizefight last Sunday. He is doing all this for his family and his nan (his manager). He is on the phone with his family all the time. His mother is a big fan of Shania Twain. So, that’s why he is singing this song.
I think Lloyd picked a great song for himself. He is catering to his fanbase. I don’t think he could pick a better strategy for himself. He can sing and he is the old fashioned classical pop singer – exactly what older people like.
Simon says Lloyd is really a great singer, but wishes he would make one song his own. Louis points out that Lloyd won the prizefight last week. Nicole praises his voice – his instrument. He says he is a perfect bowl of spaghetti, but wants less cheese and more spice. Sharon says he stayed true to who he is and says there is room for him in the industry. Louis agrees and tries to energize the voters.

Rak-Su – Mona Lisa (Rak-Su)
Rak-Su wrote an original song this week about love. Their VT is all about drawing in the female viewers.
The song is what all Rak-Su songs are. Catchy beats, rapping and singing. It’s really not the standard singing show kind of performance – that is Lloyd’s role. Can they get into iTunes TOP 10 with this again? This group has great stage presence and every week they come across as musical guests, not contestants. They get a standing ovation from the judges.
Louis thinks they are sailing through to the finals. Sharon calls then unbelievable and says everything the do has amazing hooks. Nicole says the UK fell crazy in love with Rak-Su. She calls them relatable and praises their on stage chemistry. Simon says there is no better job than his at the moment, because he does absolutely nothing with them – Rak-Su do everything themselves.

The vote is now open and will be open for 11,5 minutes. Dermot recites the voting instructions. Time for a recap. Matt Terry performs after the commercial break.

We are back and it’s time for a performance from last year’s season, Matt Terry. He is singing a song from his debut album, ‘The Thing About Love’. His debut album ‘Trouble’ is out on Friday.

Results after the commercial break.

We are back and it’s time for tonight’ results. Louis and Simon bring their acts on stage.

Tonight’s top vote-getter is Rak-Su. They will be in tomorrow’s prizefight with tomorrow’s top vote-getter.

Safe:
Rak-Su
Lloyd Macey
The Cutkelvins

Going home: Sam Black and Sean & Conor Price.

Well, that was predictable.

The overs and the girls perform tomorrow night. Fergie will be the musical guest.
