Song list for tonight!

It’s Movie week again. Simon sends thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris. Caroline mentions song changes.

Mason Noise – “Men In Black” from the movie Men In Black

Nick says Mason needs confidence after being in the bottom last week. He goes to visit his father at home. Mason is getting a big dance number this week. He doesn’t want to be in the bottom 2 again.
The stage is red and black. Mason sings and raps. I don’t know how that will go down with the viewers. Gah, I wish Seann was here instead. This was no standout performance.
Rita is feeling the suit he is wearing. She thinks he doesn’t have to worry about being the the bottom 2. Cheryl loves his swagger. Simon says cockiness and arrogance are welcome in pop music. Nick says the performance was perfect.

Max Stone – “Secret Garden” from the movie Jerry Maguire

Initially Max didn’t like the song, but then he works it out. He gets help from the choreographer. Max ditches the guitar and reggae tonight. Thanks goodness. The vocal is pleasing if not phenomenal.
Nick likes all the changes in performance this week and the song choice. Rita liked that he looked relaxed on stage. Cheryl compliments the vocal, but she thinks he needs he needs to come out more. Simon says Max was singing to his girlfriend.

Louisa Johnson – “Everybody’s Free” from the movie Romeo & Juliet

Louisa wanted to sing “Lady Marmelade” this week, but it didn’t work. Instead she is singing “Everybody’s Free”. This isn’t the most exciting song, but Louisa does a good job. She shows a lot of restraint in the first part and saves the big notes for the end. She also gets a choir.
Cheryl wants to squeeze Louisa and says she doesn’t know how good she is. Simon says he loves people who want to make a difference in their lives. He likes that she wants to win and says she reminds him of Leona. Nick says this was Louisa’s best performance so far. Rita cries a bit and says Louisa’s idea came to life.

Monica Michael – What Is Love (Empire Cast)

After last week’s disaster Monica is happy to be back. She is wearing black again. She had to change her song at the last minute because of the terrorist attacks in Paris. I bet this is her “save me” song. She gets some strings and a piano on stage. Her vocal is fine, but I think she needs a bit of help from the choreographer.
Cheryl points out that Monica had to change her song this morning. Simon says this is exactly the kind of material Monica should be singing. Nick loved the “real” Monica. Rita is also thrilled with the performance.

Reggie ‘N’ Bollie – “Who Let The Dogs Out” from The Rugrats Movie

Cheryl wants them to show off their vocals by singing “My Heart Will Go On”. LOL. Not really. They can’t sing.
But they do start with the Titanic song. Fake start! “Who Let The Dogs Out” is totally in their wheelhouse. I bet the kids are loving this. The audience is going crazy for them.
Simon is speechless. He doesn’t think the performance was as good as last week’s. He has never heard of The Rugrats Movie. Nick says the false start reminded him of Celine Dion. Rita says it was a fun performance. Cheryl says the show needs Reggie and Bollie.

Anton Stephans – “I Have Nothing” from the movie The Bodyguard

Anton is totally embarrassed by his performance last week. This week is going back to ballads … he is singing “I Have Nohing”. SO OVERDONE. He wants to have a moment.
The beginning sounds nice, but then the music totally overpowers him. We get very few close up shots of Anton. Hmm. Also, the picture is completely black and white, only Anton’s blazer is electric blue.
Nick is happy that Anton is back to what he does best. Nick says the vocal was good, but points out some gestures were a but musical theater. Rita loved the performance. Cheryl says Anton would sing that song is a real world. Simon says this song is one of his favorites. He dismisses Nick’s criticism.

4th Impact – “Work It Out” from the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember

Celina passed out during the add break and Cheryl offered them to play the dress rehearsal. Hmm. They are getting a big production.
They are wearing sexy shimmery dresses tonight. The routine is great and the vocals seem on point. But I’m not sure that song will do anything for the viewers.
After the performance, Celina appears to be unwell and she gets to sit in a chair. Simon says the performance was outstanding under the consequences. Nick says they are like 4 Sasha Fierces. Rita loved it too. Cheryl is very proud of her the girls.

Lauren Murray – One Last Time (Ariana Grande)

Lauren goes back to her hometown and visits the nail saloon and the dentists office where she used to work. She had to change her song this morning, too. I bet this was her “save me” song. She gets pianist and nice lights, but otherwise it’s just Lauren singing. The performance clearly isn’t rehearsed 100%. She did what she could.
Cheryl once again points out that Lauren had to change the song. Simon says Lauren “nailed” the song. Nick thinks Lauren destroyed Ariana’s version and that Lauren is his favorite girl in the competition. Heh. Rita spits out some performance unrelated nonsense.

Ché Chesterman – “When A Man Loves A Woman” from the movie When A Man Loves A Woman

Get ready for the cheese fest! In the VT Che says his dad Che Sr. taught him how to sing. The song is a good fit for Che and he sings is brilliantly. I think he is a contender for the win, but I’m not sure he could be successful in the real world. Male X Factor winners just can’t catch a break on the charts. It’s easy for them to get the votes and win the show, but selling records is something completely different.
Rita says it was the perfect song choice for Che, but didn’t like the cars on stage. Cheryl says she loves his voice. Simon predicts Che’s love life will improve after the show. HEH. Nick says the performance was perfect.

One Direction and Jess Glynne perform on the X Factor tomorrow. It’s another double elimination night!
