So, let’s recap last night’s show. Andrea Faustini opened the show and tackled “Summertime” pretty well, but it looks like Simon Cowell is on a mission to stop him from winning the show. Lauren Platt followed and her performance of “Smile” was a bit boring and again it was Simon who dared to criticize her. At the first glance, it looked like Jay James (“New York, New York”) made a strong come back, but Louis and Mel B gave him some tough criticism. Stereo Kicks performed “Mack The Knife” relatively well, considering they changed their song choice the previous afternoon. Their studio recording was also the most downloaded X Factor recording of the week, which puzzles me a bit. Ben Haenow sang “Cry Me a River” pretty well, but he looked like he was just going through the motions with the song. I understand this song and the Big Band theme aren’t his forte, but I expect more commitment from talent show contestants. Only The Young performed “I Wanna Be Like You” and it was really fun. Stevi Ritchie shocked us again with “Mambo No. 5 / She Bangs” medley and it looks like the show is almost ready to dump him. He served his purpose and he made the tour, now it’s time for him to go in the next couple of weeks or maybe even tonight. Fleur East closed the show with “Bang Bang”. She is the most well rounded performer of the season, as she can sing, rap and dance. But I think the first part of her performance last night vocally wasn’t great. She is a good singer, but not a great one and her voice isn’t really distinctive.

TOP 3 iTunes downloads of the week: Stereo Kicks, Fleur East, Only The Young

Tonight: Somebody will be sent packing. Olly Murs will perform “Wrapped Up” and Nicole Scherzinger will sing “Run”. Also, Band Aid 30 video airs during the show. X Factor’s One Direction sing the opening line of the song (!) and Olly Murs is also on the track. Other artists on the track are: Paloma Faith, Emeli Sande, Jessie Ware, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Seal, Sinead O’Connor, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Bono Vox (U2), Chris Wood & Dan Smith (Bastille), Guy Garvey (Elbow), Roger Taylor (Queen) and even BBC Radio 1 morning show host Nick Grimshaw was in the studio. All people mentioned above showed up in a studio yesterday where apparently the video was filmed. The song will be on iTunes tomorrow morning. Adele was apparently called 100 times, but she didn’t answer Bob Geldof’s phone calls. Meanwhile, John Newman wasn’t asked and he was really sad about it. Maybe Band Aid 40?

Jam packed show is in front of us and Dermot is losing no time. The judges get introduced right after he arrives.

TOP 8 perform Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”. I think this is better than Taylor’s X Factor performance a few weeks ago.

The phone lines are still open!

It’s time for a long recap of last night’s performances.

Our first guest is Nicole Scherzinger and she is singing her new single “Run”. Poor Nicole, her solo career isn’t going anywhere. She had a #1 and a #2 UK single on her previous album, but everything from her new one is flopping. She was the most talented and the obvious star of The Pussycat Dolls, but on her own she just isn’t “popping”.

The phone lines are now closed.

We are back from the break and it’s time for some results!

Safe:
Fleur East
Andrea Faustini
Stereo Kicks (Simon is happy!)
Lauren Platt
Ben Haenow

Only The Young, Jay James and Stevi Ritchie are still on stage and the final act definitely safe will be revealed later in the show. Commercial break.

We are back.

Olly Murs is releasing his 4th studio album next next Monday and “Wrapped Up” is his first single from the album. The recorded version features Travie McCoy.

We are going to anther commercial break and look, One Direction’s new album is out tomorrow! And Olly Murs is touring next year!

We are back from the break. Three acts are back on stage. The final act definitely returning next week is Only The Young!

Bottom 2:
Jay James
Stevi Ritchie

Jay James sings “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane.

Stevi Ritchie sings “Somebody To Love” by Queen.

DECISION:
Simon sends home Stevi Ritchie.
Louis sends home Stevi Ritchie.
Mel B sends home Jay James.
Cheryl sends home Jay James.

DEADLOCK!

Jay James received the fewest votes and is leaving us tonight! Stevi Ritchie lives on to murder another song … or two. HURRAH!

ETA: Next weeks theme is: Elton John vs. Whitney Houston! Take That and Labrinth are set to perform.

Sir Bob Geldof took to The X Factor stage on Sunday night to unveil the first Band Aid single in 30 years, to raise money for the fight against the ‘most anti-human disease’ Ebola.

Stevi stays: Singer’s survival summed up the standard of another boring ‘big band’ week on the X Factor, writes JIM SHELLEY
There was a time when I thought the one achievement of my life, the single genuine public service from decades trivial journalistic endeavour, was that I had been responsible for the abolition of Big Band Week on the X Factor.

Simon Cowell had rung me, announcing that, having read my review tearing it to shreds and branding it as appalling, anachronistic, nonsense, he had been persuaded to stop doing it.

And so it proved. For a few years.

Then he brought it back. Yes, Simon Cowell lied to me. It’s hard to believe I know.

Cheeky Spice: An androgynous Mel B is caught giving Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s bottom a squeeze on X Factor results show
She’s made no secret of her affection for her fellow female X Factor judge.

And it seems Mel B felt the need to squeeze Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s bottom as they walked out on stage for the results show on Sunday.

Dressed in an androgynous trouser suit with a necktie, Mel, 39, wore her hair slicked back into a bun, as she reached out to pat an unsuspecting Cheryl’s behind.
