This is just in: X Factor UK has no hosts. The news of Caroline Flack being axed came this past week and tonight The Sun reports Olly Murs is quitting too. His excuse? He wants to concentrate on the music. He is recording his 5th studio album right now.
OLLY Murs has sensationally quit The X Factor after a year and declared: “My heart belongs to music.”
The presenter made the decision last month and has now told boss Simon Cowell, who had hoped he would continue to have a role in the ITV talent show.
But the former contestant decided continuing as host would provide too much distraction to his music career.
Olly, 31, told The Sun: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make and one I didn’t take lightly as I’ve really enjoyed co-hosting The X Factor.
“It’s been one big adventure and I loved every minute of it. But my heart belongs to music and I want to concentrate 100 per cent on making my next album and getting back to performing.”
The Troublemaker singer said that the pressure of balancing the commitments of the show, which is a full-time job for much of the year, and his music work would be too hard.
He added: “Last November I was doing the show, promoting a new single and I felt increasingly like the music side of things had to be shoehorned into the TV schedule.
“Now that I’ve started working on my next album I couldn’t see myself having the time to do both.”
