BBC Children in Need reaches the highest total ever of £26,332,334
The GREAT British public has risen to the occasion once again and raised a staggering £26,332,334 for BBC Children in Need – the highest on-the-night total ever.
Celebrating its 32nd Appeal, the show marked the crescendo of this year’s activities through a star studded feast of family entertainment in order to help raise money for disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.
At the helm was Sir Terry Wogan who was joined by TV stars Tess Daly, Fearne Cotton and Alesha Dixon to present the seven-hour entertainment marathon live from London’s BBC Television Centre.
The stage came to life with top musical stars including One Direction, The Saturdays, Westlife, Steps, Olly Murs with Rizzle Kicks, Will Young, Matt Cardle, Ed Sheeran and The Collective.

Boyband One Direction were the stars of the celebrity-filled show tonight on children in Need. The former X Factor contestants belted out two songs to help raise more than £24million throughout the marathon fundraising event.
Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson kicked off proceedings by taking to the stage to belt out What Makes You Beautiful.
They were introduced by Terry Wogan, who started the night off by also introducing his three fellow presenters Tess Daly, Alesha Dixon and Fearne Cotton.

Children in Need raises record amount
THE Children In Need appeal set a new £26million record early today.
With an hour still to go, the cash raised by the live BBC1 show was already well ahead of the £20million given during last year’s event and £26,332,334 was eventually pledged.
This year’s show, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan, kicked off with boyband One Direction performing their single What Makes You Beautiful.

X FACTOR favourite Craig Colton is dating former contestant Danyl Johnson.
The pair have been getting close for two weeks after bisexual Danyl — a finalist on the 2009 series — met gay Craig backstage at the ITV reality hit.
The two were seen smooching on London’s South Bank on Sunday night.
On Wednesday Craig rushed back from a Children In Need gala dinner in Manchester to go shopping with Danyl, 29.

When Kelly Rowland first appeared on X Factor, Simon Cowell sent a photograph of himself to congratulate her.
‘I put it next to my flowers,’ she says. ‘I love Simon. He calls me Lippy now. Which I guess is a British saying. I’ve never heard it before. He says, “Thanks Lippy for everything” because I have a big mouth.’
She laughs. Just as Simon must be doing. Either that or showering her with signed mug shots. For, as those who follow X Factor know, the so-called war of the judges is about the only thing that’s stopped viewers waltzing off en masse to BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing this year.
