A year ago I predicted that S13 runner-up Saara Aalto would get to represent her homeland Finland or the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. And guess what, it is happening! Saara signed a record deal with Sony Music UK and Sony Music Finland last December, but has since left Sony for Warner. She is taking her music into a theatrical direction and now her wish to perform at Eurovision is also coming true!

Saara Aalto will represent Finland in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
Finland always held a public national selection for their Eurovision Song Contest participation but for the 2018 season Finnish broadcaster, YLE, has decided to change the process by choosing their representative internally. Finland will be represented in Portugal by… Saara Aalto!
Finland’s national selection, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (Contest For New Music, abbreviated to UMK), will see Saara Aalto perform three songs composed specifically for her. Of these three individual songs the viewers and international juries will get to choose the best one to be performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in May in Lisbon. The selection process will be broadcast live from Espoo Metro Areena on 3rd of March.

I can reveal the Essex singer is releasing a new album which he believes will finally show his full potential, after also beating demons in his personal life.
Matt told me: “Signing this new deal with Sony is one of the proudest moments of my life.
“After the highs of X Factor I sank to the darkest places I’ve ever been.
“But after overcoming addiction I finally found myself in a place where I was ready and able to create the album I have always wanted to. I then spent three years pouring blood, sweat and tears plus all my darkness and my hope into this album.

“It’s a bit harsh getting rid of two.”
Last year’s X Factor winner Matt Terry has given his take on this year’s big live show rule changes, arguing that acts getting the boot faster is a “bad thing”.
The young singer came on top in the 2016 series, but is now admitting that he’s not a fan of the new double elimination format introduced this year.
Speaking about the general rule changes, Matt told The Express: “I like them. But the only thing I don’t understand or I’m a bit jealous of, is the fact that they get the prizes. We didn’t have that but I’m not sure how I feel about it.”
“I think it’s really scary that you know who gets the most votes – that could get a bit old. Apart from that, the new studios are amazing, the production are smashing it and the contestants are lovely.”
However, on the topic of two acts getting eliminated each weekend instead of one, Matt continued: “I think this is another downfall and now it’s a lot harder.
“The public used to get to know you over two and a half months, whereas this year it’s cut in half. Nicole’s had two leave already!
“It’s mad. I think it’s a bad thing, I think it should be longer. It’s a bit harsh getting rid of two.”
