Simon Cowell will be rubbing his hands with glee as his protégés One Direction landed their first No1 single today.
The quintet scored the biggest week one sales of the year so far with debut release What Makes You Beautiful clocking up over 153, 000 sales since last Monday.
Liam, Louis, Niall, Harry and Zayn leapfrogged artists such as Bruno Mars, Olly Murs, Jennifer Lopez, and The Wanted who all broke through the 100, 000 sales-in-one-week barrier this year.

IT looks set to be one of the shortest chart-topping celebrations in pop history.
The bubbly will barely have had chance to fizz in the One Direction boys’ glasses (not yours, Harry, you’re only 17 so it’s lemonade for you) before they set them down again and jet off to conquer the States.
The boys’ single What Makes You Beautiful has sold over 100, 000 in just three days – more or less guaranteeing No 1 spot – but after a quick slap on each others pretty little backs, it’s back to the grindstone.
They will shoot their new video in New York next week and meet US record labels thanks to boss Simon Cowell.

Tulisa axes band for having the seX Factor! Six contestants dropped after being caught in the act
Tulisa Contostavlos has proved she’s one tough judge, after axing a group for breaking a sex ban during the judge’s house stage.
The 23-year-old X Factor judge took eight groups to the Greek Island of Mykonos, but enforced a strict policy of no drinking or romping.
But after just two days, Tulisa was informed that six of the singers had been caught locked in passion.
Producers found out that two of the girls from one band had slept with two of the boys from another band, while two others from a mixed group also took part in a sex act, according to The Sun.

X Factor contestant spends life savings on makeover to get the pop-star look
Axed X Factor contestant John Wilding is so desperate for success he has spent £7, 000 on a makeover in a bid to impress the judges this year.
The 18-year-old was dumped from the competition at the Judge’s House stage last year but is making his come back on the show tonight.
He revealed he has used his life savings – around £5000 – to get his teeth fixed, change his wardrobe, and has even gone on the controversial Atkins diet to look more like a star.

Second time’s a charm! John Wilding wows X Factor judges in his comeback audition
John Wilding, 18, made his return to X Factor after reaching the Judges’ Houses stage last year but eventually being booted out by Dannii Minogue just before the live shows.
However with a new panel of judges, he decided to try his chances one more time.
Before facing the panel, he said: ‘With the new judges it’s like a fresh start.’

A mother of four who dazzled the judges in last night’s X Factor is from the same neighbourhood as Mary Byrne, the Tesco checkout worker who made it through to last year’s finals.
Michelle Barrett, 31, who sang Whitney Houston’s All The Man That I Need, revealed she grew up in the Dublin suburb of Ballyfermot, and that her parents still live near the store where Mary worked.
‘I haven’t met Mary yet but members of my family know members of hers, ’ said Michelle, who now lives ten miles away in Leixlip.

Backstage plotting and underhanded tactics that occur on X Factor have been exposed by contestant Ashley Crowe.
Ashley, who is a Gary Barlow impersonator and a singer in tribute band Fake That, claims that he was approached by the shows producers and they decided that he should sing Take That hit Love Aint Here Any More in front of the judges.
24-year-old Ashley said that the bosses wanted to impress judge Gary Barlow and arranged for the Fake That singer to meet the Take That singer backstage.
