X-Factor Star ‘Desperate’ To Forget Competition
Former X-Factor winner Matt Cardle has said that he is ‘desperately’ trying to distance himself from the show that made him a star.
The singer songwriter was speaking to Sky News as he launched his debut album Letters.

“It is one of those things. Will Young’s done a spectacular job (at distancing himself) as has Leona Lewis. “I think you need to have genuine success with your own material that’s all.

Asked if the X-Factor had hindered his career he said: “Where you come from is where you come from. “People may not take you as seriously as they would have, but it is what it is. “That was the way that worked for me.”

Gary Barlow vows to shake up the X Factor as he and Robbie Williams slam Simon Cowell for lack of care towards contestants
Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow have slammed Simon Cowell and the old X Factor judging panel for failing to care for contestants.

New lead judge Barlow said he was ‘evolving’ the show to make sure acts were properly mentored, while Williams accused Cowell of caring more about entertainment than music.

The Take That singers are in Los Angeles, where Barlow is holding his Judge’s House.

He is selecting four contestants from his category – the boys – to go to the final stage, and chose his bandmate to help him make the decision.

GARY BARLOW and Robbie Williams may not have always seen eye to eye in the past.

But when new X Factor judge Gary needed advice on choosing which acts should make it through to his final four, he knew there was only one man for the job.

Speaking in LA where Gary held the auditions for the “judges’ houses” stage — to be screened later in the ITV1 series — he revealed his old bandmate was top of the list.

Gary, who is mentoring the boys’ category, said: “Robbie seemed like the obvious one.

“I knew he loved the show. He has done since day one.

“He watches all reality TV, including all the cr*p telly like Jersey Shore. He loves it, so I knew he was a big fan of The X Factor.

Love creates brand and campaign for boyband One Direction
Manchester agency Love has created an international marketing campaign to promote Simon Cowell’s boyband One Direction.

The Drum first revealed that Love had been hired by Cowell’s record label, Syco, back in June. The music industry giant briefed the agency to position its artists as recognisable household brands, starting with One Direction.

Love’s first step was to develop brand guidelines for the group, which rose to prominence during the last series of the X Factor.

The guidelines include typographic and logo treatment and the use of assets in all merchandise and photographic direction. They will act as a point of reference for all printed material, video and TV advertising.

Young guns One Direction proved popular and were even referenced by Stephen Fry who announced: ‘Music died after Schoenberg. If it’s not One Direction I’m not interested.’

Speaking to MailOnline Harry Styles said he couldn’t believe how far they had come in the past year.

He said: ‘It’s crazy but we are all really enjoying ourselves. We have an whole album now and we are really pleased with it.’

X Factor stars Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke oozed pop star perfection in their long dresses, with Leona, 26, opting for a simple yet elegant long white tasseled dress, while Alexandra, 23, stood out in a black and blue tie dye effect gown.

One Direction get kicking from Jimmy Carr
JIMMY Carr hammered One Direction before dinner at the GQ Awards last night.

He approached the lads, with a slightly sinister question: “Evening boys. Is there a kids’ table for you tonight?

“Have they got the high chairs in for you? What’s this? Buy one suit get four free? What’s on the kids’ menu? Fish fingers and chips?”
