Watching his very first televised X Factor audition back today – a rendition of “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s – feels remarkable, purely for the fact it is so unremarkable. He can barely hit the notes, and even the judges look as if they’re more interested in their next cigarette break than the guy singing right in front of them. With his combed asymmetrical haircut, Topman cardigan and hopeful expression, he looks like every other British teenager you could have found in any suburban town in the mid 2000s; the kind of contestant that might get through the first couple of rounds, but would have a hard time making a stand-out impression. However, it didn’t exactly pan out that way – because mere months later, he would become one of the most idolised pop stars in the world; a human canvas onto which a whole generation of teenagers would project their fantasies. These days, he’s reportedly worth a clean £40 million.

LOUIS TOMLINSON’s reunion with ex-girlfriend ELEANOR CALDER seems to have given him the perfect inspiration for his solo career.
I’ve been given a first listen to the former ONE DIRECTION singer’s second single and can tell you it’s a huge tune with a banging chorus.
It’s almost a minute before Louis sings a note on Back to You, with rising star BEBE REXHA opening the track.
But it’s worth the wait as Louis then pours his heart out about a turbulent relationship.

Louis says coping with One Direction’s break was tough and comments on whether they would re-form as a trio
WHEN ONE DIRECTION began an extended hiatus at the end of 2015, much was made of the friendships and alliances within the world’s biggest band.
LOUIS TOMLINSON was the natural leader of 1D and keen for the group to continue their chart-conquering progress.
But his former BFF HARRY STYLES was ready to go on an indefinite break, leading to understandable tensions within the group.
In part two of his revealing world-exclusive interview, Louis is brutally honest about that difficult period, shining a light for the first time on how the decision to split was made.
He says: “It was an uncomfortable time more than anything.
We’ve always had a level of respect for each other in these meetings and we always said that 100 per cent honesty and openness is so important if you’re going to get on as a band.
“It made those situations a little bit difficult because I felt like I really was building up confidence in myself and in my place within the band and as a songwriter in the band.
“I could feel that potentially it was going to be a break. What was difficult was trying to understand how long that might be.

They broke hearts around the world when they announced a hiatus for One Direction at the end of 2015.
And Louis Tomlinson has now claimed that Dunkirk star Harry Styles is holding up any plans for a reunion due to his blossoming movie career.
The singer, 23, explained that it’s ‘difficult to say’ when the band might reassemble because Harry has so much potential ‘in so many different fields’.

And Louis Tomlinson looked in high spirits as he stepped out to the Capital FM studios in London on Thursday, after revealing more updates on the group which was reportedly formed after Sony Music and Syco held auditions back in 2015.
The One Direction star, 25, excitedly told Noisey about the two year process – which focused on him sourcing out the best ‘musicians’ after being inspired by X Factor winners, Little Mix.

And that’s even if their solo careers continue to flourish, with Louis being the last member to go out on his own.
A source close to Simon said: “He so proud of Louis and all the group’s achievements over the last 18 months.
“For them all to launch solo careers – and be a group of superstars individually as well as in the band – makes him so proud.
“It also makes Simon more determined than ever that the hiatus was not the end of One Direction.
