‘X Factor’ after 10 years: What’s the show’s secret?
What is the secret of The X Factor’s success? Maybe it’s hidden in Louis Walsh’s hair. Perhaps it’s disguised under Simon Cowell’s yanked-up trousers. Or maybe it’s in Dermot O’Leary’s signature bum-wiggle.
As you’ve probably guessed, we have no idea what’s behind the ITV mega-smash’s hit formula. So at today’s X Factor series 10 launch we asked the show’s stars why they think the series has endured, while other talent shows have been derailed (Fame Academy) or failed to get off the ground (The Voice UK).

Louis Walsh has ‘Voice’ dig: ‘X Factor has no competition’
Louis Walsh has told Digital Spy that The Voice UK has failed as a talent show and said that he doesn’t believe The X Factor has any real competition as the UK’s No.1 talent competition.
“It’s the biggest and best show in town. It kills the competition. We don’t have competition. It’s Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor,” he told DS.
Walsh dodged questioning about whether The X Factor could recover from losing the ratings battle with Strictly in 2012 and instead opted to put the boot into BBC rival The Voice UK.
“They’ve never had a star,” said Walsh. “The idea [with these shows] is to find a star that has a career. They’ve never done that.”

Hip OAP band a hit with judges
THE X Factor has found its oldest ever star – a 94-year-old man with a walking stick.
The pensioner named Bill was part of ten-piece group The Nostalgics who performed Katy Perry’s Firework in front of a packed Wembley Arena.
A lady called Betty played organ and another member, Cynthia, told judges she’d had a pacemaker fitted at the weekend but STILL made it to the audition.
Gary Barlow was so impressed with Wednesday’s performance that he said: “I want to know the name of the woman on the organ.
“Is it Elton? Oh, it’s Betty. I love Betty on the organ. Betty, you got everybody up. Well done.”
Louis Walsh added: “It is great to see you all sing in harmony. It is fantastic. I loved the song and the sound. I loved everything about it.”

“It is not what they told me, it is what the public want.
“I am way over the age of being shy, my darling, so I will tell you the way it is, OK?
