Little Mix Explain Why They Scrapped An Entire Album And Gave “Pretty Girls” To Britney Spears
Less than two years have passed since Little Mix dropped sophomore LP Salute in November 2013, but that’s a longer break than originally intended. “We’ve been away a while because we wrote an album, sat with the record label and we thought, ‘Nope, it’s not good enough’,” revealed Jesy Nelson in an interview with The Sun. “We recorded a whole album but we’re perfectionists and knew we could do better. So we scrapped it and started again.”

The problem? “We just couldn’t find a single,” Leigh-Anne Pinnock explains. “Then we heard ‘Black Magic’ and our prayers had been answered.” The girl group also opened up about co-writing Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls” — and then giving it away. “We wrote it with Maegan Cottone, who we’ve written a lot of this album with,” Jade Thirlwall explains. “We loved the song but it wasn’t really for us so we put it out there and, lo and behold, Britney wanted it.”

Fiery Leona shot down in flames
LEONA Lewis’ big comeback has suffered its first major setback after she was snubbed by Radio 1.

The former X Factor champ has returned with a brilliant new single Fire Under My Feet.

But Beeb radio bosses aren’t as excited about her first release since she quit Simon Cowell’s Syco label as fans are.

Not only has Le-Le’s comeback been ignored by execs but breakfast show host and likely X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw admitted he hadn’t even listened to it.

Nick told me: “I’ve not even heard it, to be honest.

“I think she has made some bangers in the past, like Bleeding Love, but I’ve not heard anything new.”

Leona is the latest big name following Madonna, Take That, Kylie and Robbie Williams to be deemed too old for the station.

Nick would be Grim on X Factor: Brian Friedman slams DJ
There’s still a huge question mark over whether Nick Grimshaw will make it on to the X Factor panel and the knives are out already.

Creative director Brian Friedman has hit out at the Radio One star’s credentials to become a judge, before he’s even confirmed.

He said: “He isn’t a musical artist so I’m not sure what coaching he’d be able to give the contestants.

“The criteria should be an amazing management type or successful artist.”

So if Grimmy does make the leap and take Simon Cowell’s offer, these two will have to work together.

Awkward.

There will only be nine live shows rather than the usual 12 after Simon Cowell discovered they would clash with the tournament on ITV

It will now be on October 31, after the the World Cup final earlier that day.

The change leaves nine live shows instead of the usual 12. But Cowell believed 12 was too many.
