All American boys: One Direction storm the U.S with their first ever gig (and Harry even did his hair!)
They looked good, and the crowd certainly thought they were beautiful.

As One Direction attempt to break America, their first US gig kicked off with a spark with crowds behaving like the boys had been their forever, by screaming the house down.

And the five certainly appreciated it with Irish blond teenager Niall Horan, 18, even dubbing the band’s across the shore audience US directioners.

Boy band One Direction have apologised to London radio station Capital FM after erroneously thanking their rivals Radio 1 at the Brit Awards.

Bosses at Capital were furious by the snub and reportedly bumped the group’s songs down the station’s playlist.

‘It was completely terrifying’: Police and army escort not enough to keep fans at bay as One Direction are mobbed by thousands in Paris
Fans have described ‘terrifying’ scenes in Paris yesterday as One Direction were mobbed by thousands of screaming teenage girls.

Even a police and army escort was not enough to keep Liam Payne from losing a shoe in the fracas.

But the boys took to Twitter to say it was ‘all cool’ and thank fans for turning out to see them at the Gare Du Nord train station.

They’ve had an incredibly hectic few days, which saw them yesterday mobbed by thousands of fans as they headed out in Paris.

Harry Styles tweeted a series of pictures of his bandmates asleep on the Eurostar, all of them doing their best to get into the most comfortable positions possible for a bit of shuteye on the way home.

Time for Radio 2? Breakfast DJ Chris Moyles, 38, celebrates his birthday with teenagers One Direction
For most men in their late 30s, One Direction would be an instruction read out by their Sat Nav.

But if you are Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, not only do you know One Direction are the hottest new teenage band around, you also get the honour of having them come to your birthday party, even if you are 38.

And the grumpy breakfast show DJ only looked slightly uncomfortable as his birthday party, live at BBC Maida Vale studios, took a decisive lurch to that of a much younger music lover.

Boy band invasion! how The Wanted became America’s most wanted
For all their scream-inducing skills, British boy bands such as Take That consistently failed to colonise the bedroom walls of America’s teenage girls.

But now a dearth of US musical heart-throbs has finally opened the door to the UK’s pop sensations, as One Direction and The Wanted storm America.

When the US had vocal talents like Boyz II Men, why would they need Boyzone? Westlife had the ballads but they were no match for the slick dance moves of the Backstreet Boys.

Yet the perception that British boy bands lack the vocal harmonies and buff appeal of their US counterparts is changing. This week One Direction’s single “What Makes You Beautiful” charted at 28, scoring the highest first-week position by a British act debuting on the Hot 100 since 1998 when The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” reached 13.
