How One Direction’s ticket sales dwarfed their recorded music income in 2015
Here’s a story which says everything both about the phenomenon that was/is One Direction, and the power of the live music business today.
According to the latest Pollstar year-end figures, the British four-piece scored the world’s biggest tour in 2015, beating the likes of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.
1D’s 80-date On The Road Again tour shifted over 2.36 million tickets in the year – 2,364,390 to be exact.
That was slightly ahead of Swift (2,273,328) and comfortably out in front of Sheeran (1,578,003).
When you start calculating how much these tickets were worth in monetary terms, it’s something of an eye-opener for the power balance in the music business.

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief… probably. An online report alleging One Direction’s current hiatus is actually a permanent break isn’t true.
A source close to the band tells Billboard “nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members’ own mouths.”

One Direction fans will be relieved to hear that the band aren’t in fact splitting up for good as was previously reported, according to Liam Payne.
The 22-year-old told photographers that he, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan will reform after taking an unconfirmed amount of time off this year when he landed at LAX on Friday.
When asked if the British boyband were splitting. Liam responded: ‘Oh, no no no.’

He found fame as one of the pop sensations in One Direction, and it appears as if Liam Payne is planning to make a move into the world of hip hop.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on hiatus from the boyband, has been pictured inside a recording studio with American producers TM 88 from 808 Mafia and Juicy J.
According to TMZ, the British heartthrob has been working hard on five new singles in which he both sings and raps.

Louis Tomlinson is leaving the UK to move to Los Angeles as he prepares to become a first-time father.
The One Direction singer is relocating to California this week to be close to Briana Jungwirth, who is due to give birth to their baby later this month.
With his band now on hiatus, the 24-year-old pop star is focused on fatherhood and is making Briana, 23, and his unborn child his priority.

In a new interview with Luomo Vogue, the 23-year-old singer claims that despite the boys – Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – declaring in interviews they were still friends, no one except for Liam has ever returned his calls or his texts to this day.
