Lucy Spraggan: ‘Join The Club’ – Album review
Lucy Spraggan’s X Factor experience remains to this day full of anomalies. The star wowed the judges and arena during her first audition, where she performed her own track ‘Beer Fear’, before the song immediately scaled the iTunes chart. Lucy was on her way to having a hit before she’d even got to the live shows. After illness struck she was forced to exit the competition, but Columbia were quick to scoop her up and offer her a major label deal – something that is rare for a contestant that hasn’t made it to the final five.

Judging by Spraggan’s early audience reception and promise, it’s obvious why a large label would want her on their roster. Her first studio album Join The Club showcases her storytelling ability as both charismatic and compelling throughout, but over-production works against her carefully balanced compositions. The story of a family saying being handed down the generations effortlessly draws you in on ‘Tea & Toast’, but the new album version has been polished with added “oohs” and guitar pangs that tarnish its simple charm.

He may be part of Britain’s most manufactured boy-band, but One Direction’s Niall Horan clearly has a secret ‘street’ edge to his talents.

The X Factor finalists prepare to move into £5m mansion previously owned by Lionel Richie… complete with pool they can’t use due to ‘health and safety rules

Nice twerk if you can get it! Miley’s on The X Factor… but after THAT dance, is she really the best person to be mentoring teen wannabes?
Her last appearance on live TV was so raunchy it sparked an international outcry – and got the word ‘twerking’ into the dictionary.

Now Miley Cyrus could turn The X Factor X-rated after bosses signed her up to appear live on the show.

The supposedly family-friendly ITV programme has previously been criticised for airing steamy performances by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera before the 9pm watershed – so producers will be careful to remind 20-year-old Miley of broadcasting guidelines before she performs her latest single, Wrecking Ball, live on the show.
