X Factor 2013 finalists: Gary Barlow excited about the groups
X Factor 2013 judge Gary Barlow is excited about getting the groups for the first time.

The Take That star is looking after the category on this year’s show and will take charge from this weekend at bootcamp.

However, when Gary first received the choice of category he wasn’t mightily impressed.

“None of them shone in the first round. Gary was getting worried,” a source teased. “Luckily, when the bands performed individually rather than against each other, they knocked it out of the park.”

Gary himself admitted: ““I must say, when I first was told I was getting the Groups, I was a little unsure. Then we did Bootcamp and I got time to really work with them and I think I’ve got a strong category this year.”

There were tears aplenty as The X Factor 2013 final 12 were chosen last week in Antigua.

It was the last stage of judges’ houses as Nicole Scherzinger delivered her verdict to the six remaining girls in her category.

The Oscar worthy performances perhaps even managed to out-do Rylan Clark’s dramatic sobbing from last year’s series.

Speaking about on girls’ response to making it, a source teased: “It’s TV gold. She could be another Rylan in the making.”

Nicole Scheringer’s choice of location for the X Factor 2013 judges’ houses stage back fired this week.

The Pussycat Doll star flew out the girls in her category to the Caribbean, but the high temperatures left for some rather lacklustre filming.

The six girls may have enjoyed the prospect of singing for Nicole in Antigua, but illness, vocal problems and even allergic reactions caused chaos for the hopefuls ahead of their make or break performance.

“Filming in Antigua may have been beautiful but it was hard work for everyone,” a source told The Sun newspaper this morning. “The heat was really intense and it really affected the girls, some of whom had never known anything like it before.
