New TWIST this year: Fans of the Got Talent shows will recognize the GOLDEN BUZZER. One singer from each team will go straight to the Judges Houses. It means their seat is safe, no matter what. I don’t get the point? Just don’t swap the singer out? On AGT the Golden Buzzer gets to skip an entire round.

Simon Cowell’s Girls are up first.

Kleo – Girls – Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) by Shakira – Simon says she has great personality. Too bad her singing is terrible. Still, she gets a chair.

Georgia Burgess – Girls – Happy by Pharrell – She seems nervous. A very shouty performance. But she gets a second seat.

April Darby – Girls – Angels by Robbie Williams –  She has some pitchy moments. But not bad. Simon thought it was a “great version of the song.”

All these short bits. Montaged singers = Sacrificial lambs.

Ava Lily – Girls – Perfect by One Direction – Her piano driven version of the song gets her a chair.

Maria Laroco – Girls – Queen of the Night by Whitney Houston  – Her big voiced rendition of the song will surely earn her a seat. And it does.

Sephy Francisco – Girls – Never Enough by Loren Allred – She’s the gal that sings male/female duets with herself. It’s kinda gimmicky. It’s a fun party trick, but not much else. She gets a seat.

Welp. All the cannon fodder is seated!

Bella Penfold – Girls –  Blinded by Your Grace, pt 2 by Stormzy – There’s pitchy singing, followed by a bunch of shouty rapping. Bella has some potential, but this performance is unwieldy. She needs to reign in it. Robbie thinks she’s phenomenal. Ayda loves that it’s raw and not polished. Louis calls her the “full package.” Ohhh. Simon says “This isn’t going to make me popular…I can’t give you a seat.” Oh. Because he’s giving that mess a golden buzzer. What the hell? That was NOT GOOD. Simon really got Bella good. She thought she was going home. Which singer will be eliminated? Cleo loses her seat.

Simon has five more singers to go. But first we moving to the Overs.

Olatunji Yearwood – Overs – Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega –  Oh good Lord. This is total Drunk Uncle at a Wedding. Really bad. Simon thinks the competition needs people like him. He gets the first seat.

Anthony Monarch – Overs – Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON – Wow. We barely got a bar. He got a seat, but not for long I suspect.

Cezar Ouatu – Overs – Somewhere by Il Divo – He’s the opera singer with the female falsetto. Louise calls it amazing. Cezar gets a seat.

Jacqueline Faye – Overs – Bring Him Home from Les Misérables – She’s 53 years old. It’s a decent rendition. On pitch at least. She gets a seat.

Burgandy Williams – Overs – I’m Every Woman by Whitney Houston – Big voiced singer from Dallas. Super shouty performance. She gets a seat.

Claire Angel – Overs – Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel  – She’s got a completely different look this time.  Nice tone, but she needs work on her phrasing. She gets a seat.

Once again…all the cannon fodder is in place!

Ricky John – Overs – Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding –  He was on the street for eight years. Also, he just became a father. His range is limited for a song like this. But he knows how to belt a song. Yup. Bye the end of the song he clutches his throat. He needs vocal training. Robbie tells him to believe in himself. Simon calls him a great guy. “You deserve a break.”  It’s his birthday! And his gift is a GOLDEN BUZZER. Ayda hints that he’s having vocal issues. Anthony Monarch loses his seat. Of course. He had the shortest montage!

Back to Simon and the Girls

Lanya Matthews – Girls – I Didn’t Know My Own Strength by Whitney Houston – Lame song choice. But she’s got a nice tone and an impressive range. Louis calls her “unbelievable.” And she gets a seat. April Darby loses her seat.

Jennifer Owens – Girls – Fly (Original) – It’s a treacly song, but it suits her voice. Simon suddenly stops the performance. He wants 30 seconds of a’cappella. Robbie wants to cover her song. She gets a seat. He eliminates Maria Laroco. Then he changes his mind. Ava Lily loses her seat.

Shan – Girls – A Song For You by Leon Russell –  Very sweet rendition of the song–lovely phrasing. The best performance from the girls so far. Ayda says she’ll physically put her seat on stage if Simon doesn’t give her one.  Of course, Simon gives her a seat.

Georgia Burgess loses her seat to boos. She begs to do another song. She performs a nervous, shouty version of “Show Me Love.” Ayda and Louis commend her fight. She keeps her seat. Lanya Matthews loses her seat.

Molly Scott – Girls – Say Something by A Great Big World –  Hoo boy. These performances are becoming increasingly desperate.  She’s so eager to keep her seat, she’s oversinging. Ayda thinks she deserves a seat. Simon gives her a seat. Sephy Francisco loses her seat.

Simon has ONE MORE singer. But we’re back to the Overs

Antonino Spadaccino – Overs – Stay by Rihanna  – It was only a verse worth, but well done. He gets a seat.  Jacqueline Faye loses her seat.

Ivo Dimchev – Overs (Original) – This joke contestant should be the only contestant to never get a seat. Because that was not good. Simon calls him “fantastically bonkers.” WAIT WUT. He gets a seat.  What’s worse, Antonino Spadaccino loses his seat

Panda Ross – Overs – You Pulled Me Through by Jennifer Hudson –  Panda’s guttural tone is not pleasant. Ayda didn’t like her song choice. But she sees potential. Panda gets a seat. And Ivo Dimchev loses his seat.

Louise Setara – Overs – Up to the Mountain by Patty Griffin – Her dress is hideous.  But other than a few pitchy spots, she delivers a beautiful performance.  Simon says it would be criminal for her not to get a chair. And she gets a seat.  Panda Ross loses her seat.

Now, Simon’s last contestant.

Scarlett Lee – Girls – Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson – She hits a few clunkers.  She needs to mind her range. She can barely hit those high notes. But again, I’m sure she feels if she doesn’t go for it, she won’t advance. Simon notes that she over sings (She does!) but he gives her a spot.

We won’t know the result until tomorrow after a sing off.
