Jessica Simpson confirms she was approached by X Factor to sit on the Judge’s panel. She tells Women’s Wear Daily:
“I think it would be a lot of fun. It’s definitely my life. To be a mentor for up-and-coming artists is right up my alley. I would have loved to have a mentor. I love watching people’s dreams come true.”
Other names bandied about as possibilities to take a seat next to Simon Cowell and record executive L.A. Reid are UK songstress Cheryl Cole and American Idol pal Paula Abdul. Nikki Minaj has talked to Simon about projects other than X-Factor, and Simon himself has ruled out Mariah Carey.
Simon tells interviewers that he’s still talking to people, but hopes to make a final announcement very soon.
The first round of X Factor cattle call auditions took place in Los Angeles yesterday, with approximately 15, 000 hopefuls turning out.
