X-Factor 3 – Audition Episode 3 – Live Blog and Discussion

I almost typed Live Glob. lol. Join me here for the live blog of X-Factor!

Paulina is at a concert. Only Demi, Kelly, and Simon are at the table.

Audition #1- Shirley and Cynthia- I Want You Back (Jackson 5)
They are terrible. Simon is laughing. The audience doesn’t even know how to react. Terrible. Kelly thinks one was better than the other. She thinks the one girl should come back as a solo. It’s a No though.

Audition #2- Josh Levi-
I’ve heard about this guy. I’m expecting good things. He doesn’t tell them what he’s singing. We have a pop star. this kid is believable. He has a throwback Justin Timberlake sound. He’s like a black Justin Bieber. This kid is gonna do well in the competition. The crowd loves him. Demi adores him. Demi calls him an artist for putting a spin on the song, Kelly calls him a star, and doesn’t thin there’s anyone like him. Simon agrees with Kelly. He’s a Yes.

Audition #3- Drama Drama (MOLLIE GRAY!?)- Party In The USA
Mollie from SYTYCD is in this group. Four other girls are with her. No, she doesn’t really sing. Nevermind. Embarassing. Simon looks horrified. They should never sing acapella. It’s a No. Simon calls them old fashioned.

Audition 4- Forever Young-
They do an NSYNC song. Short audition. It’s a No.

More groups audition. They aren’t good. Simon calls them old fashioned.

Audition 5- Aknu- Valerie
Three brothers who describe themselves as “throwback”, but not “old fashioned”. From South Central LA. Simon says he hates the song. They are at a disadvantage to start. They are definitely old fashioned, but with some coaching, they might be OK. I just don’t think the lead singer is anything special. Kinda whiny. The audience loved them. Kelly starts calls them refreshing. Demi has the chills. Simon thinks he’s watching motown all over again, and they might be on the forefront of something new. They’re through to the next round.

Audition 6- Brandie Love- Up to The Mountain
Her boyfriend is in the armed forces, and she’s happy he was home from deployment to be here with her today. She’s a country singer. Paulina is back. Brandie has a good voice, but she’s a boring performer. She could grow into something over the course of the competition though, if allowed a chance. American Idol might be a better venue for her though. The crowd loved her. Paulina says she has the X-Factor. Simon says she took them to church. Simon predicts great things for Brandie Love. Kelly says she loved that she got lost in the song. Demi says she took her home. Four Yes votes. She’s through.

Audition 7- Millie Thrasher-
Not a great voice. Pitch issues. We only see a bit of her. Simon sees huge potential. Four yes’s. She looks like Hayden Paniterre. Quick audition.

Audition 8- Timmy Thames-
It was alright. Forgettable. He’s through though. Short audition.

A guy is through. A group of four girls is through. A girl is through.

Audition 9- Yellow House Canyon
A duo. They sing Redneck Woman. It’s short, they seem OK, but forgettable. They make it through. Short audition.

Audition 10- Vinny Crisostomo- How Do I Live
Vinny has his own bodyguard. He claims he’s famous. He’s a rapper, obviously. He compares himself to Method Man and Redman. He’s italian and like pasta. He looks up to Tupac. Wait. What? He’s doing Leann Rimes? Seriously? No way. He’s one of the worst singers in history. In the history of singing. It’s all monotone. He’s tone deaf. Truly tone deaf. Simon is laughing. Simon says he needs new friends. LOL. Four No votes.

WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?

Audition 11- Carlos Guevera- Gravity by John Mayer
He has tourettes. He tries to not let it hold him back. Music is the only thing that helps him. His friends have showed up to support him. His friends haven’t dropped him since his tourettes has started. That’s nice. If he could play guitar, he’d win Idol. lol. His hand is distracting, but I get that he’s got 99 problems. Vocally, one of the best solo boys we’ve heard. His mom is crying. Carlos seems really genuine. The audience loved him. Paulina says he has a great energy. Demi can tell he has a beautiful soul. Kelly says she’s grateful to be here to witness this. Simon says he likes that Carlos isn’t a victim, and has a great voice. Simon does the thing where he says he doesn’t have 4 yes’s, he has the yes’s of the entire stadium. You don’t know my life Simon. Simon says he’s the best they saw that day. Paulina hopes she gets boys (I’m thinking there are a few strong boys this year that could do well).

Audition 12- Chloe J and CJ- River Deep, Mountain High
They went to hair school today. This is going to be awful. They are kind of entertaining. CJ is funny. I’d advance them just to see them again. Chloe is awful. CJ isn’t bad. I could see them cutting her, and keeping him. I can’t believe CJ can’t hear that Chloe is terrible. It’s making it impossible for him to do the harmonies. Simon thinks they’re both awful. I think CJ was alright. He could be thrown into a manufactured group. Kelly says No. Paulina says No. Demi says No. Chloe comes down and kisses Simon all over. Where is security? LOL. Simon says Yes. HAH.

Audition 13- Malie Delgado- Because Of You by Kelly Clarkson
She’s from Alaska. Paulina thinks she’s something special. She’s pretty good. She’s through.

Four more people make it through.

Audition 14- Colton Pack- Hick Town by Jason Aldean
He comes from a small town. His whole town came with him on a charter bus. Country boy. The roads in his town look quite “restless” I would say. :) He says he’ll be whatever people want him to be. He’s alright. There are better boys this season. The judges like him. He’s through. Simon’s fake country accent is awful. Colton’s people get to storm the stage to prove he brought that many people with him.

Simon is missing now. With the money these judges are paid, can’t they come to auditions?

Audition 15- Danie Geimer- House of the Rising Sun
She’s awkward and nerdy and reads books. She’s socially awkward. She’s in line with a perky upbeat girl, who likes her glasses, and her response is “Thanks. I read books.” LOL. She’s actually really good. A large puerto rican man in the audience claps fiercely for her. I need a GIF of that later. K? Thanks. The audience is standing and applauding before she even finishes. Lots of close up shots of random audience members. Very strange. Kelly calls her “Miss Thang”. Demi makes her take off her hat. The three girls think she’s gorgeous.

Simons back.

Audition 16- Jeffrey Adam Gutt- I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
Simon admits he probably should have made the finals last year. Demi thinks he looks better. Jeff says he ate a lot of cheeseburgers. lol. He’s a bit much for me. But, I can see his appeal. Simon doesn’t like the song choice, and thinks he was trying to impersonate Steven Tyler. We are left with a cliffhanger as Simon says he can’t put him through on that song. Simon asks for a second song. It’s Creep by Radiohead. My problem is that he should be fronting a band. Maybe he’ll go the Daughtry route after the show and launch a rock band called Gutt. Creep was much better though. Simons says he’s honored to have him back on the show. Kelly thinks he’s incredible. Simon says he was the one that got away last year. He’s through again. His kid runs out on stage for him.

Join me tomorrow night for more X-Factor.
