The World of Dance The Cut part 2 airs tonight on NBC. Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and NE-YO make up the judges panel, while Jenna Dewan Tatum serves as host. Misty Copeland is this week’s guest judge. Only the top two highest-scoring acts from each division will move on to the Divisional Finals.

In the end, there’s only one million dollar winner. The last act standing wins $1 million dollars.

Last week in part 1, the Junior division faced The Cut. In the end, contemporary dancers Diana Pomb and Eva Iago advanced. The Team Division round began, with Super Cr3W facing Swing Latino.  Three more acts from the division will perform. The top two scoring acts move on to the next round. After, The  Upper Division will face The Cut…

Kinjaz – Folks don’t think of Asians as sexy, says one of the troupe members who promises to reveal a different side of the group. I don’t know if I’d call them sexy? But it was precise and well choreographed. Jlo called them “innovative.” The group hand out jackets to the judges. Misty felt like “that 14 year old girl seeing N Sync for the first time.”

Kinjaz move to the top of the leaderboard with 93.3. Swing Latino are second. Super Cr3w are eliminated. Two more teams will perform. Only two teams will advance.

Chapkis Dance Family gets the quick montage. You know what that means. They’re eliminated with an 85.8.

Ian Eastwood and The Young Lions knocked the Jabbawockeez out of the competition last time WHICH I STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND. Anyway, they dance about in a cloud of stage smoke. They’ve upped the energy some this week, and brought a measure of emotion to their performance. Derek believes that out of all the acts, they’ve evolved the most. Misty was moved. But Ne-Yo didn’t think it all came together. Jlo says “Good job.”

Swing Latino scored 92.5. The Young Lions miss at 89 and are eliminated. Jlo advises them to change up their choreography.

Kinjas and Swing Latino advance to the next round.

Next, the Upper Division Face the Cut.  Derek Hough will serve as mentor.

Luka and Jenalyn – Cabaret Ballroom – Jenalyn says they have to remind themselves that it’s World of Dance not World of Tricks. Derek gives them tips on breathing emotion into their performance. There are a ton of tricks. Luke slings Jenalyn around like a sack of potatoes. But it’s very elegant. Jlo would like to see a little more dancing. Missy wanted to see more connection between them. So yeah…they’re having trouble getting over that bag of tricks deal. Derek felt they were unable to bring his advice into the performance They score 80.5. They’ll be eliminated shortly, and by the looks on their faces it’s obvious they know it.

Fik-shun – Hip Hop – He won SYTYCD a few years ago, and is currently an All Star on that show over on FOX. He dances to “7 Years” by Lukas Graham, using  a bench and an umbrella to elegantly illustrate every phase of life. While Ne-Yo felt the performance was safe, and didn’t get the props, JLo disagrees. Missy agrees with Jlo. She felt he used the props beautifully. Derek says, “You did great.” Score – 84.2. Ohh. This is likely the end of the line for Fik-Shun.

Pasion – Latin Quartet – A 78.8 score eliminates them from the competition.

Les Twins and Keone and Mari are next.

Les Twins – Derek warns them: You can’t hold back anything at this stage. They take that advice to heart. This is a great performance, but I wasn’t as wowed this time? Missy notes how high the expectations are and they exceeded them. Derek notes that they held back in rehearsal. Jlo says their love of performance shows. Score: 93.5. They move to the top of the leaderboard, and a guaranteed spot in the next round.

Luka and Jenalyn are eliminated.

Keone and Mari – Their routine will explore a very tough time in their marriage, which they eventually weathered. They perform, tethered to each other with a red band. It’s starts off very angry–they push and pull until they overcome their differences and eventually toss the band. Derek compared the performance to an artist installation. Scores – 93.2. They move into second place.
