Dia Frampton came in second to Javier Colon on the inaugural season of The Voice back in 2011. She has had her ups and downs since then. But now the singer has reunited with her older sister Meg Frampton for a new album, happysad. Meg & Dia have just released the music video for the lead single “American Spirit.”
I don’t want to spoil it. I’m just going to say that the clip takes a very VERY dark and unexpected turn midway through. And that I’ll never consider robotic cameras in the same way again.
The song itself was inspired by Meg’s spirituality. She told Billboard in a recent interview that while she was apart from Dia she took part in silent retreats and dabbled in psychedelic drugs. The song takes a look at the self-help circuit.
But the music video has nothing to do with any of that. Just watch.
