Watch Jimmy Kimmel’s American Idol Parody (VIDEO)

Jimmy Kimmel sends up singing competition shows on his late night talk show, with this parody, “Do You Have What it Takes?” The problem is–it’s a little confusing as to what “it” actually is.

All of the cliches we’ve come to know from American Idol are mocked here–the pre-performance interview, the tearful call to the parents, the judges making the barely-through-to the next round contestant promise to “bring it” next time.

But, hilariously, the “panel”, made up of Jimmy Kimmel, Malcolm-Jamal Warner from The Cosby Show, former Bachelorette contestant, Ali Fedotowsky and former TLC singer Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas make their decisions based on…pretty much nothing!

The panel stops a singer, informing him that it’s not a singing competition. “Do you have what it takes?” says Jimmy to the confused contestant, whom the panel ultimately decides does not have “it.”

On the other hand, to a girl who reveals, “I’m good talking to people and listening to people. That’s about it” Jimmy says, “I think you might have what it takes. I’m going to send you through.”

The segment ends with a challenge: “Your move, Ryan Seacrest.”
