The new Sunday Night Football theme featuring the American Idol season 4 winner and country star, Carrie Underwood, and a slew of NFL players, premiered on September 13.
The new opening has Carrie belting “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” in a glittery mini dress in front of an amalgam of cities rising out of the ground–sorta Game of Thrones style!
Players who shared the soundstage with the singer included Odell Beckham Jr. (New York Giants), Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals), >Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys), Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers), Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh Steelers) and more.
Carrie had to record verses for every combination of match up possible, On Sunday, it was the Dallas Cowboys vs the New York Giants.
“It’s always fun being part of Sunday Night Football and recording the open,” said Carrie.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is set to the original Joan Jett song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” This marks Carrie’s third season performing the song with NBC Sports.
