Remember Season 8 Top 36 contestant, Von Smith? He’s set to appear at the Upright Cabaret TONIGHT (Adam Lambert’s old haunt) on a bill with Sam Harris (Star Search mega-belter) and E.G. Daily (she of the awesome cartoon voices)
Von was in semi-final group three, losing out to Lil Rounds, Jorge Nunez and Scott MacIntyre. He was picked for the wildcard round and was scorned again, this time by the judges who did not choose to advance him.
Prior to Idol, Von had become something of a You Tube sensation, for his ability to belt out “And I Am Telling You” at the top of his lungs.
The judges loved Von’s over-wrought audition, but then called him out on his penchant for hitting the high notes afterward (Hello, Jermaine Sellers!)
