The Voice 6 – Battle Rounds Pt 2 #2 – Live Blog and Performance Videos

Sisaundra is an AMAZING singer.  She has a good shot at the Top 12, but her age will keep her from winning the competition.  She sure can belt, though.  She sell some iTunes too, if she choses crowd pleasing oldies to sing.  Stevie Jo could go pretty far too, with his amazing rock vocals. Definitely the standouts from tonight…

We’re live blogging the second night of The Battle Rounds part 2! Next week: Monday is the last day of Battles (YAY) and on Tuesday, the Playoffs begin!

Sisaundra Lewis vs Biff Gore – “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s world – Team Blake – Oh. I think Biff was set up to fail here. Two older performers are set to battle each other. That’s about all they have in common.  While Biff is an entertaining singer, there’s no denying Sisaundra’s killer vocals. When they hit the big note together near the end of the performance, she stomps all over him. Poor, poor cannon fodder. He was never meant to be anything more. Bye Biff. You were fun. Usher has performed the song himself. He realizes how difficult it is. He’s proud of both of them. He gives it to Biff (because he invested in him from the beginning.) Shakira is a fan of both of them. Adam says, he’s sure Sisaundra isn’t originally from planet earth! He loves Biff’s stage moves. Blake loves that Biff is an entertainer, but, Sisandra’s voice is amazing, and he can’t miss the opportunity to work with her. Sisaundra Lewis wins the battle.

Ddendyl vs Deja Hall – “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera – Team Shakira – Shakira loves Ddendyl’s delivery. She doesn’t think Deja is connecting. She’s so young, she’s never been in love. Chris Martin suggests she think of Harry Styles while she’s singing. Oy. Deja decides she’ll think about the love she has for her family, which is probably a better option. This song could be beyond the young singer.

I’m having trouble getting past Ddendyl’s affected phrasing. Deja has a beautiful voice, with a lovely tone. They blend beautifully. I’m surprised to say this, but I prefer Deja in this battle. She’s young, but she has an absolutely gorgeous voice. Adam notes that the song was introduced on the show. The singers are so different. He loves Deja’s rich voice. Blake likes Deja’s innocence, but admires Ddendyl’s artistry. Usher would pick Deja, because there is so much room to grow. Shakira loves them both, she thinks they both killed it, but she chooses Deja, because she’s improved the most. Deja Hall Wins The Battle

MONTAGE! Emily B vs Kristen Merlin sings “I Can Love You Better” by Dixie Chicks for  Team Shakira  – Blink, and you’ll miss it! Kristen Merlin wins the Battle

Stevie Jo vs Morgan Wallen – “Story of My Life” by One Direction – Team Usher –  Usher wanted his pairing to be fair, so that hopefully the other could be stolen.  During the review that precedes rehearsal, Morgan admits that he could have performed his battle better. Usher notes there were problems, but that he was confident nevertheless. The two go over the song picks: “Hall of Fame,” “Shine” and Story of My Life.  They settle on the One Direction hit, deciding that “Hall Of Fame” would be too rangy.  Whoa Morgan is sounding pitch impaired in rehearsal! Chris Martin gives them advice on breath control.  Usher feels Stevie Jo isn’t committing to the song. But Morgan could buckle under pressure.

These two have very different vocal tones. Morgan is super raspy, while Stevie Jo has a full, clear voice. Polar opposites, really. Morgan has the tendency to go off pitch, while Stevie Jo’s intonation and tone are sweet and clear. He can hit some pretty amazing high notes, too. I’d give it to Stevie. Shakira really enjoyed it! She loved Stevie’s runs and trills and Morgan’s falsetto. Adam says the song was sung by a couple of “MEN.” He thought it was awesome. The battle isn’t as close as he thought it would be. Morgan surprised Blake too. He’d give it to Stevie Jo, he loves his tone. So, Morgan just discovered his falsetto. Stevie Jo shocks Usher with his ability to sing tricky melodies. So, he chooses Stevie Jo. –  Stevie Jo Wins the Battle. And at the VERY last minute, Adam Levine Steals Morgan Wallen. Adam is challenged by a singer with little experience coming into the competition. The growth arc could be intriguing if Morgan is teachable.
