Video Premiere: Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” Featuring Pistol Annies, Rae Lynn (VIDEO)

Two-time defending Voice champion and country superstar Blake Shelton has released the video for “Boys ‘Round Here,” the second single off his current album, Based On A True Story.

“Boys ‘Round Here” is a catchy tune about the stuff nobody in country music ever talks about anymore: beer, trucks, small-minded backwoods living, and staring at hot girls. Yeah. But it is shaping up to be both a country radio and digital smash, so make of that what you will in thinking about the state of the world. In the video, Blake drives a giant, bouncing pickup truck and then sits around drinking beer while people around him stand around and drink beer. Or dance. There’s also a pig. And a cow. Because country. There’s also the part where they play up racial stereotypes that ends with people hugging it out in a way that feels uncomfortably like tokenism.

Both the recording and the video feature Blake’s Voice Season 2 contestant Rae Lynn, who continues to prep her Republic Nashville debut and was recently signed to a publishing deal that is a joint venture between Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Music and Dr. Luke’s Prescription Songs. Also featured in the song and the video are the way-too-talented-for-this Pistol Annies, a female trio featuring Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert, the incredible Ashley Monroe, and Angeleena Presley, who are set to release their sophomore album, Annie Up on Tuesday.
