Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy drop by The Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about supporting Ukraine, new dance residency

Dancing with the Stars alums Val Chmerkovskiy and Maks Chmerkovskiy stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about reimagining the wine tasting experience in Napa this summer with their new immersive live show “Savor After Hours.” The brothers share with Kelly Clarkson how the show combines the worlds of wine, spirits and dance, and Val previews what fans can expect with an epic wine-inspired dance routine. Watch it below.

Val and Maks also reflect on growing up in Ukraine, and share how their family ties to the country left them “no choice” but to raise humanitarian aid for the refugees being displaced from their homes. Maks was in Ukraine filming World of Dance when Russia invaded Kiev.

The brothers share how their nonprofit Baranova27 has shipped more than half-a-million pounds of supplies to those in need with the help of hundreds of volunteers. They also dish on raising their young kids, and Val gets honest about life as a first-time dad to a two-month-old with his wife, DWTS pro Jenna Johnson. Meanwhile, Maks and his wife Peta Murgatroyd are expecting their second child.

They also share thoughts on their favorite DWTS celebrity partners. Val mentions actress Zendaya, whom he danced with while she was still a young 16 year old actress. Competing on the show is something that “brings people together,” Val said of the difficult process.

Kelly kids Maks about only winning the show once, while his brother has nabbed two mirrorball trophies. Maks points out that Peta has also won twice, once while pregnant with their six year old son (he has a half a trophy, Maks joked). Jenna has also won once.
