Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Welcome Baby Boy

Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson welcomed their first child, a baby boy on Tuesday (Jan 10).

The Dancing with the Stars pros announced the new arrival by sharing a black and white photo on Instagram of the newborn holding on to his mother’s thumb while dad cradled both their hands in his own.

“Our world is forever changed,” the caption next to the photo reads.

So far the couple, who were married in 2019, have not posted any further details on the baby’s birth, including his name. In a July interview with People magazine, Jenna said she and Val picked out names, but might could change their minds.

“We actually have had a boy and a girl name picked out for three years now,” the expecting mom shared. “Val actually picked out the name for our boy, so we have it.”

However, Jenna elaborated, “I really want to see him first before we make that decision,” she added. “So far we have one that I’m pretty set on, so who knows, it might switch the day of.”

Family and friends congratulated the couple

A bunch of people hopped on Instagram to congratulate the couple, including Val’s brother Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his wife Peta Murgatroyd. DWTS judge Derek Hough wrote, “Wowza !!!!! This is perfect! So happy for you all. A new beautiful family begins.” Former DWTS host Tom Bergeron chimed in, “Congratulations!! You’re both embarking on the most rewarding dance of all.”

Also leaving messages: Dancers Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Lindsay Arnold, Hayley Erbert, Cheryl Burke, Daniella Karagach, Alan Bersten, Sasha Farber, Koko Iwasaki, Ezra Sosa, Brandon Armstrong, Alexis Warr and more.

Additionally, celebrity dancers who competed on the show such as Gabby Windey, Rumer Willis, Matt James, Amanda Kloots, Ginger Zee, Kate Flannery, Danica McKellar and more left well wishes on the post.

Jenna has been frank about fertility issues

Jenna was candid about having a hard time conceiving. In an Instagram post from July, Jenna said, “We had actually stopped trying to conceive for about 6 months to mentally/emotionally give ourselves a break. So the shock, disbelief, and sheer joy in this moment is a memory I will never forget,” she wrote alongside a video of her reacting to a positive pregnancy test.”

“I want to keep this moment very positive,” Jenna continued, “because there is so much to celebrate and my heart is overflowing with gratitude, BUT our journey getting to this point wasn’t an easy one.”
