The BBC presented their six Eurovision candidates and all of them tried out for X Factor UK.
The BBC revealed the 6 acts that will be competing for UK’s Eurovision ticket this Friday night (January 27). All the details can be found HERE. TPTB dipped heavily into the talent pool of X Factor UK.
Danyl Johnson – Light Up The World (Written by Dan McAlister, Rick Blaskey, Greg Walker, Chris Sutherland and Ameerah Roelants)
He was on season 6 of X Factor UK in 2009 – the season that was won by Joe McElderry and featured Olly Murs and Jedward. He was in the Overs category and mentored by Simon Cowell. He finished in 4th place.
Lucie Jones – Never Give Up On You (Written by The Treatment, Emmelie de Forest and Lawrie Martin)
Like Danyl, Lucie Jones was also on season 6 of X Factor UK. She was in the Girls category and mentored by Dannii Minogue. She finished in 8th place after appearing in the bottom 2 with Jedward.
Since then she has appeared in several musicals.
Nate Simpson – What Are We Made Of (Written by Jon Hällgren, Eric Lumiere and DWB)
Remember Nate? He was on season 13 of X Factor UK – that is, the latest, 2016 season! Nicole Scherzinger sent him home at judges’ houses, when she opted to keep Matt Terry, Ryan Lawrie and Freddy Parker for the live shows.
Olivia Garcia – Freedom Hearts (Written by Gabriel Alares, Sebastian Lestapier, Linnea Nelson and Laurell Barker)
Like Nate, Olivia reached the judges’ houses of X Factor UK season 13. Simon Cowell sent her home when he opted to take Emily Middlemas, Samantha Lavery and Gifty Louise to the live shows.
Holly Brewer – I Wish I Loved You More (Written by Kevin Fisher, Courtney Harrell, Laurell Barker, Mattias Frändå, Johan Åsgärde and Oliver Lundström)
She auditioned for the X Factor in 2015 (season 12). She got four yeses from the judges, but the producers decided to axe her from the competition before boot camp. She was never shown on TV. She performed as an opened for Jess Glynne and McFly.
Salena Mastroianni – I Don’t Wanna Fight (Written by The Treatment, Nicole Blair and Marli Harwood)
Salena is a distant relative of the Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni. She auditioned for the X Factor in 2012 (season 9).
