  1. David, I wish people would recognize the beauty of your heart for always putting your family first, and your willing to always help those who are not as fortunate! I love your for you musical talent but as I got to know you I realized there is so much more to you than we realize! Thank you!

  2. I am so proud of David Archuleta not only for being an amazing singer/musician but also for having a big kind heart. love him!!!

  3. We are so proud of you David for going to Central America to help out those in need!
Don’t worry about the tweeting and such but a vlog when you get back would be lovely!!

  4. Archie is such a doll <3 His tweets always make me smile.

And I was cracking up reading the responses to DC's tweet last night asking him if he did everything in reverse and if he kissed a hot blonde at the airport lolol

  5. So proud of all the charity work David Archuleta has become involved in. He has inspired many of us to join in many causes he has promoted in his gentle way. He seems so happy to be joining others in meaningful causes and one of his latest is the Lisa Lopes foundation. I heard one of his goals is to eventually build a Medical facility in Hondura s where his mother is from. Angels for Cause has taken on some of the goals inspired by David. To be able to actually go to Central America to do charity work has David ‘stoked”. He is usually private about many of his good deeds but I think letting us know can help spread the word in case we can help. Proud of him and the work of Angels for Cause.

  6. Perez is reporting that there is a rumor Paula has singned a 4.5 mil deal to star on U.S Xfactor

  7. Yes, there’s MUCH more to David than meets the eye! He’s the real deal! I’m so happy and proud to be his fan and to watch him grow! Can’t wait for his next vlog! I am so addicted!

  8. Mj agree Hooray for twitter. Thanks for posting and keeping us up to date……
and thank you Stephdanielle for posting David A little speech and Prayer of the Children…Just beautiful and so heartwarming snd sincere.

  9. We’re so incredibly proud of David Archuleta

David Cook spent a week doing a pretty cool thing too. I mean, great for David Archuleta–whatever it is that he’s doing–but he might be getting an exciting personal experience from his excursion too.

  10. As far as charitable activities go, it’s not a competition! I admire everyone who chooses to “give back” when they’ve had some luck in their life.

  11. We’ve had a nice day with news of both Davids and Jordin giving back with charities. All Idols really do a remarkable job with charity. I’m sure other celebrities do too, but I just don’t pay much attention.

Exactly. Both Davids are very admirable people, and I’m sure that Cook, like Archie had an exciting personal experience being on Extreme Makeover. Doesn’t take away from what either of them are doing (which is certainly more than what I’m doing right now!).

Exactly. It takes a pretty unselfish person to go out of their way to help others the way these two are doing. They are both special in their own way. :)

  14. and since we’re mentioning charitable activities
“David Cook & NFL’s Tony Gonzalez Shadow Buddies ready 2give2 special children & YOU can help! http://bit.ly/5dokgp

Looking forward to hearing about Archie’s trip if he’s wanting to share.

  15. Not being cynical here, and I think it is great what Archie and Cook are doing, but there are hundreds of celebrities (including other idols) that are involved with charitable work and prefer to keep their involvement more low key and under the radar. So just because some one chooses to let others know of their good works doesn’t mean they are doing more or less than others.

I think I may have mentioned that same thing ^ there. I don’t follow all the people so I don’t know what they do unless it’s so big that they’re on like the Stand Up To Cancer single (which blew chunks btw). What I’m saying is we see all the great things the people we are following are doing. I have to hope and truly do believe that so many are helping where it makes sense for them.

I will have to say, however, that if you are an Idol contestant, every time you fart or cough, will be noted. There’s not one manager or publicist in the 19 stable that would be able to keep their job if their Idol didn’t get noted for doing something charitible.

  17. I agree with you Tess, but sometimes a celebrity’s involvement really increases the success of the charitable project. I think the Race for Hope received thousands more last year (& hopefully will this year) due to Cookie’s involvement.

But, of course, doing good without expecting any recognition does mean more.

  18. Why take a positive report and be cynical and sarcastic. many of them only publicize the charities that their fans may want to contribute to. I for example contributed to Stand up for Cancer, Rising Star etcl because some of Archie’s fans promoted the charities in his name. This trip was briefly mentioned in his twitter to let fans know where he was going with a possible followup to promote the charity. If you listen to the you tube of Prayer of the children you will see that Archie explains one of the great benifits of his opportunities was that his charities have been supported………………Off to say the Serenity Prayer….

  19. There’s a difference between doing charitable works on the sly, which I know both Davids do, and doing charitable works that raise awareness and funds. And a difference between doing something quietly for an individual or a small group of people and doing something for a multitude of people.

There are lots and lots of instances where the only reason we know about things that David A. has done is because the recipients tweet or blog about it or post a picture or a thank you. David never says a word. He does many, many things very quietly. Knowing the type of person Cook is, I’m sure this is the case for him also (I just don’t follow him as closely). And I’m sure there are tons of celebrities that do this, but this is an Idol blog. lol

Conversely, if what you are trying to do is raise awareness or raise a lot money to help a LOT of people then you have to tell someone about it. lol

  20. Not being cynical here, and I think it is great what Archie and Cook are doing, but there are hundreds of celebrities (including other idols) that are involved with charitable work and prefer to keep their involvement more low key and under the radar.

Tess, unless you closely follow hundreds of celebrity boards, I don’t see how you can know this. I think a lot of celebrities try to promote their charities in order to get more donations for them. That’s how they use their fame for a good purpose. Furthermore, short of refusing to appear on the show, I’m not sure how Cook could keep his appearance on Extreme Makeover “low key” . And I’m glad he mentions his Race for Hope participation, because that’s how he managed to raise over $100,000 for the event (which was a sizable fraction of all the money raised, from what i can recall). Saying that the Davids are great guys, certainly doesn’t translate into “The Davids are better than all idols”, so I’m really not following your comment.

  21. I am so proud of The Davids. I <3 The Davids. I do have a soft spot for Season 7, so it's great to hear news on Jason, Brooke, and MJohns here.

And good for Kellie to be going on her 4th USO tour. That's awesome.

  22. Tess, unless you closely follow hundreds of celebrity boards, I don’t see how you can know this.

Thank you, May. I think that was my point. I don’t know what every Idol contestant has done (nor do I actually care). I just have to think that if you’re a fan of said Idol you will know exactly what s/he did. I never concern myself with who did how much for what charity. I’m delighted that they understand their fortune and are willing to give back.

  23. I’m proud of the Davids for their charitable efforts. I think it’s great when any celebrity uses their celebrity to support a greater good. I just notice more, I suppose, when it is someone I follow.

I think David A. tweeted about his Central American trip at least in part to explain his absence to fans. He tweets nearly every day and blogs quite often, and believe me, whenever he’s even a bit late with either, it gets talked about. I’m sure he knows this. Thus, the tweet. And then he had to hear from fans anyway, saying how they were worried about the dangers and/or would miss his tweets, etc. Oh well. Hope the trip is wildly successful and I’m also sort of hoping the internet connections are awful. He deserves the time away from those pressures.

  24. KathyH, I, too, thought it was his way of letting his fans know that we may or may not get tweets from him because he was going out of the country and isn’t sure what service he will have. I think the mention of “doing some charity work” is the prevent his fans from driving ourselves crazy trying to figure out why he is there? Is it business? Will he be performing? Writing? Or did something happen family related?.

Ps: Mj, has anyone else mentioned about picking up some kind of radio signals or advertising on your site? My computer keeps freezing and then start playing a bunch of ads it seems at the same time and I have to log off.

  25. i am so proud to be a fan of david archuleta….he really cares about his fans…by giving us info of his whereabouts and other activities makes us more close to him and we love him so much for that…if you only read his tweet carefully,he is only telling his fans abt his trip to central america and the reason why he is going there..and not bragging abt the charity work he will be doing……….that’s one of the reasons why i am a devoted fan….because david has a big heart…..so genuine, jmho!

i don’t know much abt other idols but i’m sure they have their own ways of communicating with their fans.

kudos to david archuleta…can’t wait to read his memoir this may…”chords of strenght” available on pre-order on amazon.com

  26. “”I will have to say, however, that if you are an Idol contestant, every time you fart or cough, will be noted.””

Well I gotta say there are some idol that every time “cough” go to a spa make sure we all know it. (Just saying) lol

So amazing the good the idols do for people in need.

    Keep “Paying It Froward” idols!

    Just amazing! :)

  27. lol ercheers what Idols frequent spas? I’ve already mentioned that I don’t follow all of them, so please reveal.

  28. OMG ercheers, I’m so not touching that one. I’m only saying I’m delighted that you could provide it.

  29. and since we’re mentioning charitable activities
“David Cook & NFL’s Tony Gonzalez Shadow Buddies ready 2give2 special children & YOU can help! http://bit.ly/5dokgp ”

Speaking of Shadow Buddies, did you see this photo. It’s David (looking downright handsome), his brother and … I’m assuming one of these guys is Tony Gonzalez at a Shadow Buddies X-mas party:

    http://twitpic.com/xkvh4

  30. My point is idols do all kinds of things that people take notice of. The one thing that they do that is totally selfless is charity work. It always for the good of others and benefits someone in great need.

  31. O and I remember David A talking about using hotel shampoo and conditioner. So does that count?

Ercheers… if that’s Archie’s discrete way of saying that he was at the hotel spa getting his hair done, then it definitely counts! LOL

  32. ha ha ha

    May

I think the hotel shower is the closest David is gonna get to a spa.
*Takes note that hotel shampoo is free. lol

  33. I’m laughing at the notion that there could even be an issue with the contents of this blog. MJ posted what the Idols are up to, and the fans are simply saying how proud they are. David A’s fans (like me) are proud of him for doing charity work, Cook’s fans are proud of him for doing Home Edition, and I’m sure Jason’s fans are happy about his marriage. Seems perfectly normal to me.

  34. archie17

    I agree with you A100%

Giving to others is number 1 priority for David A.

Even when he tours he is always doing firesides and one time I heard he visited a nursing home. He never tells anyone. People in attendance are so amazed they place it in their family blogs. No one will ever know everything that David gives of his self.

I hope his trip is a safe one and he achieves all that he hopes while he is there. :)

  35. David was genuinely sharing from his heart with his fans in that link what its meant to him and how important it is for anyone to get involved in charities, to help make a difference in the lives of others. Such a great message, and as fans of David Archuleta we truly are inspired by him & incredibly proud of the good person he is! God bless David and everyone whether celebrity or every day citizens, who are reaching out to others!

  36. Just a little typo in the post. Jason is going on tour with Matt Hires, not Hines. And yay! for this!

  37. ercheer and mhel : another tidbit re: the nursing home visit was that a fan happened to be there and shot a video of David A singing which many of us saw intially but then we got word that Ray(tour manager) called the nursing home and asked that whoever posted it take it down because it was meant to be private and something that David wanted to do just for the residents. This latest post was more recent by a daughter of a resident. I believe the visit was when he was in town to do the BYU show.Ah! to have David A. come sing christmas carols with you………………………………….not that I want to be in a nursing home ha’!!!!

  38. oh thanks so much ercheers and heidijoy for the tidbits…just missing david a. so much!!!!the world really needs people like him……..he is one of a kind…….just saying!!!

    thanks mj for posting!

  39. Speaking of Shadow Buddies, did you see this photo. It’s David (looking downright handsome), his brother and … I’m assuming one of these guys is Tony Gonzalez at a Shadow Buddies X-mas party:

The hunka hunka on the left is Tony Gonzalez.

  40. mhel

Well my mom says we might go to see David at the Jordan thing. Not the really expensive stuff but maybe the picnic. She’s gonna try to get tickets.

    Crosses fingers :)

  41. Sorry guys…don’t mean to interrupt you but can I just say how excited I am that Adam will be doing 2 songs on Oprah!!

    Thanks for the update MJ!!

  42. Thats fantastic that Adam gets to sing 2 songs!! What will the 2nd song be? Its hard to say though.

  43. omg ercheers, that would be great…hope you get your tix and let us know how it went….so cool!!!!

    i just love david archuleta!!!!

have you pre-ordered chords of strenght yet????i’m so excited on his new book!!!!can’t really wait to read on what he has to say on his memoir! cheers!!!

  44. that is awesome that adam is singing 2 songs! is it confirmed that hes on the same show with susan boyle? bc with 2 songs it sounds like it could just be him on the episode, but who nos!

  45. I asked my mom to get it for my birthday. It’s next month. I think someone said it is gonna have a lot of pic’s in it so I really want it. lol

  46. yeah its pretty interesting/ AWESOME that Adam is gonna get to sing 2 songs. I wonder what the second song will be. Hopefully neither song will be cut once they air them. I dont even know if it’s been confirmed that he and susan will be in the same show. They have only really been advertising Adam’s via Oprah’s twitter accounts. They may just be taping them the same day but airing them separately.

I heard from people that wanted to attend Adam and Susan’s tapings that they were told that Adam’s taping was filled up but that they could go to Susan’s which tells me that they are being filmed separately on the same day. I’m not exactly sure how other Oprah shows are done with multiple guests though.

    anyways cant wait for it!!!

  47. Speaking of twitter, did you all notice that David A. now has more than 300,000 twitter followers and Adam Lambart will too within the next few hours? It is cool to look at http://twitterholic.com/ where they list everyone and how many followers they have. David and Adam and a couple other Idols are in the the top 400 of all twitter accounts in terms of followers and it is very, very interesting to see who is above them or not above them.

  48. hey mj- or anyone else- do you know what is that “namm festival” Longineau’s tweeting about?
He says they’ll be out there for a few days, hanging around and performing…??
Does he mean himself and another band, or himself with Adam’s band?
So maybe there’s another Adam performance to look out for?? Don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up (especially my own- especially after him not singing Aftermath), but it’s a possibility, no?
    Sounds interesting, anyway….

  49. The namm festival is something like a musician festival… I know Monte, Lisa, Tommy and LG will be there but NOT Adam. So there won’t be any performances by Adam at namm.

  50. Thanks for the info, Saga!

How do you know all this, BTW??

LG and Monte have been twittering about this festival for a while, inviting their fans to come.

  51. Right…. oh well, could have been nice if he were performing, but mustn’t get too greedy :-)
If I were around the area, I’d still want to go, though, because i love festivals! So much fun!

  52. Would love to see the Heroes Stars and Idols show. Good for Kellie on doing another USO tour. I’m with her on leaving the heels at home. :)

Don’t understand why Adam’s on Oprah but I guess I’m not feeling the love for him either. I have a feeling that a lot of Oprah’s target audience will not be happy about it after his AMC performance but I guess controversy sells.

  53. Oprah invited Adam to come again to perform on her show before the AMA’s, so I guess it’s not about the controversy, just sayin…

Seriously, just because you don’t like him, you’d have to be blind not to notice he’s very popular, at least with the media, and this was waaay before the AMAs…

  54. I just had a thought. All the talk about the return of Idol Gives Back gave me the notion that maybe Archie’s trip to Central America is part of this year’s IGB charity drive. I realize that he isn’t being managed by 19M so they have no vested interest in promoting Archie, but neither was Elliott Yamin, yet American Idol flew him all the way to Africa to be an ambassador for IGB. Wouldn’t it be so cool if this were true?

ETA: Oh look! Brooke White ran into David at the airport…

realbrookewhite: http://twitpic.com/xml9d – Well look who I ran into on the airplane… my good pal @davidarchie

  55. Possible location for David A in Central America – Guatemala

@enishi39: so, i just found out that on the 12th @DavidArchie will be at our fireside meeting…lol…just thought you should know lol ;)

Its not that for from Honduras. Maybe he’s doing some work for the Lisa Lopes Foundation again. Angels For A Cause is about halfway to its goal of what it wanted to raise for the medical center.
