The biennial golf tournament, The Ryder Cup, kicked off at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in
Chaska, Minnesota Thursday night with help from two current reality star winners. First, The Voice 10 winner, Alisan Porter performed the National Anthem to begin the opening ceremonies. And after a tribute to the late boxer, Muhammad Ali, Trent Harmon, the current and final American Idol, performed the R. Kelly song “The World’s Greatest” from the film Ali.
In case you didn’t know, The Ryder Cup is a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States. The competition is contested every two years with the venue alternating between courses in the United States and Europe. This year, the US has the honor of hosting the event.
The Golf Channel aired the opening ceremony, which I could kick myself for not knowing! But there is some low quality video of Trent performance, and if I manage to find Alisan’s anthem, I’ll update the post.
Trent performs “The World’s Greatest” before the Ryder Cup competition:
Extremely honored to have been a part of the @rydercup Best luck to all of the players, but especially #TEAMUSA ! ???

Earlier in the week, Trent performed at a Ryder Cup pre-function:
