The MTV European Music Awards take place in Milan Italy this year, at 9 pm CET, and will probably be live streaming somewhere. (This is tricky. Europe reverts back to standard time on Sunday. The time difference will be 5 hours for those living in the Eastern time zone, instead of the usual 6. FYI for X Factor UK fans!)
If you are busy during the afternoon, MTV will be airing the awards at 8 PM here in the states. And to entice fans into watching an awards show that has already aired elsewhere, a group of newbie artists, including Tori Kelly, have been nominated for a socially voted award, to be announced during the US broadcast. From the press release:
New York, NY (October 20, 2015) — MTV today announced via Twitter that Tori Kelly, Troye Sivan, Halsey, Travis Scott and Kygo are nominated for the 2015 MTV EMAs “Artist on the Rise” socially voted category. The “Artist on the Rise” will be determined by the nominee who has the most cumulative favorites and retweets on MTV’s specific, official tweet for each artist. Fans can find these tweets, and check in on which artist is in the lead @MTV or artistontherise.mtv.com. Voting is open through October 25 and 12:00 p.m. CET.
The winner will be announced during the U.S. telecast, airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, October 25 from Milan’s Mediolanum Forum, by Jillian Rose Reed of “Awkward” and Gregg Sulkin of “Faking It” who will be on-site in Milan as special U.S. correspondents. The “Artist on the Rise” category is sponsored by FDA.
Hosted by Ed Sheeran and co-host Ruby Rose, voting for all other award categories is open on mtvema.com through October 24 at 11:59pm CET.
Speaking of Tori Kelly, she’s set to duet with pop opera singer, Andrea Bocelli, so that ought to be something! Fifth Harmony are set to present an award.
Also set to perform are Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran & Rudimental, Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo, twenty one pilots, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Jess Glynne and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
