Truly horrible American Idol ratings are HORRIBLE. The numbers for last night’s finale are down SHARPLY from last year. Not only that, Big Bang Theory, kicked their asses. And for the first time, the big reveal did not hit the 20 million mark. A frigging BBT RERUN was basically nipping at Idols heels at 8:30 pm.
Ratings were down 47% 44% in the demo compared to last year.
The good news: Ratings will likely be adjusted UP this afternoon. The actual reveal of the winner occurred AFTER 10 pm in an overrun. ETA: The numbers were adjusted up to 3.6 and 14.30 viewers
On FOX the finale of American Idol earned a 3.4, up from last week’s 2.8, but down sharply from the 6.4 last year’s finale earned. In total viewers, this marks the first year that American Idol‘s finale did not hit the 20 million mark. For those interested, in the half hour that the American Idol finale went up against The Big Bang Theory, it only earned a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating.
