After Sawyer won The Voice in 2015, he released the album  A Good Storm on major label Republic Records. But the young singer was dissatisfied  with the experience.

“I’m not really happy with how A Good Storm’ turned out,” he told the CantonRep.com in a recent interview. “I’m not with the label anymore and that’s one of the reasons. I felt they were trying to push me too much towards a pop direction and putting me with artists I didn’t work well with. It was all very rushed. I don’t feel (the album) conveyed who I am as an artist very well. But also, I was very new to studio work as well, so I can also blame myself.”

As far as the new album is concerned, Sawyer took on songwriting and production duties of the 11 track album, which “combines country, rock, folk and blues to create a unique sound.”

In addition to releasing new music, Sawyer and his band have been touring constantly, including dates at the Folk Alliance International Festival in Montreal and at SXSW in Austin. Check out Sawyer’s tour schedule HERE.
